Palworld News

Palworld is OUT NOW today!!!

Palworld starts early access today, January 19th (Friday) 00:00 PST.

Palworld started with a small team of four people.
With Craftopia, we realized the potential that survival crafting games had, but as we continued development, we realized new possibilities.

How much fun would it be if you went on an adventure, lived, and built a base with Pals, who had their own quirks and personalities?

With this in mind, we have worked hard to develop this game for the past three years.

Developers who sympathized with Palworld gathered one after another, and the scale of the game grew far beyond what we ever imagined.

Palworld starts from here.

We have removed the critical bugs and the quality is now high enough for everyone to enjoy, but we will continue to implement important elements for Palworld.
- PvP/Arena
- Major building system updates
- Raid Boss to fight that guild members must gather and cooperate to defeat
- Trading Pals with players in other world

We are confident that if we continue to update Palworld properly, it will become the best game ever.
We will continue to do our best to update the game in order to bring it one step closer to becoming a great game.

We look forward to your continued support !!!

Palworld is more than just 'Pokemon with guns', but not much more

Since Palworld was first shown off, plenty of folk described the game as ‘Pokemon with guns’, and that’s not exactly a stretch. One look at the Tokyo Game Show trailer for the game and you’ll quite clearly see Pal designs (those are the creatures you’ll be collecting) that are akin to fan-favourite Pokemon, albeit wielding AK’s and other weaponry.

Taking inspiration from other developers, especially those behind one of the most prolific monster-collecting games globally, is fine. But that’s only one of my qualms with Palworld. Developer PocketPair claims 'it has taken no inspiration from Pokemon whatsoever', instead citing Ark, Minecraft, Rimworld, Rust, Grand Theft Auto, and Dragon Quest in an interview with The Gamer about the topic. But the game also features typography and music that you could’ve told me was from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and I might’ve believed you. Many of these Pals look explicitly like pre-existing Pokemon.

So, there’s no reference to Zelda or Pokemon having been an inspiration, despite a lot of nods to the contrary. And the sad part is, I believe this all goes a lot deeper, with some folk on Twitter claiming Pocketpair have copied Fakemon designs for Palworld’s Pals, too.

Palworld could be a delight if it wasn't so invested in being awful

I was morally obligated to keep an eye on Palworld. I've been playing Pokémon on and off for four fifths of my time on this Earth. I'm a card-carrying Dwarf Fortress weirdo, which Palworld's lead dev has cited as his favorite game. Ignoring Palworld would've been a dereliction of professional duty. Now that I've spent a dozen hours with it, emerging this week into early access, I can comfortably say that duty might've been fine to leave derelict...

Finding Pal Fluids is an important step in building up your base in Palworld. This material will let you construct a Hotspring where your Pals can relax after a tiring day of manual toil, which is vital in maintaining their sanity. If Pal sanity starts to slip, they'll start acting grumpy, or straight up refuse to work anymore...

How to unlock mounts in Palworld

Getting yourself a Palworld mount is one of the quickest ways to move around the map at speed, exploring new regions, and finding undiscovered Pals to catch. There are multiple mounts to collect in the game, and as they grant you their combat skills while you're in the saddle, it's more than viable to ride your Pal into a fight...
