Bramble: The Mountain King News

Bramble: The Mountain King has folkloric monsters and hedgehog mounts

Bramble: The Mountain King is an action-adventure game inspired by grim Nordic folktales, where the bosses you'll encounter may have some horrible backstory which explains why they now drown people for funsies. It's also seemingly a game where you're a wee smout and can ride on the back of a friendly hedgehog. There's a new trailer which covers both of these elements below.

Publisher Announcement: Dimfrost Studio & Merge Games

Hey everyone!

It’s been a hard one to keep quiet about but we are so excited to announce that we are partnering with the incredibly talented team at Dimfrost Studio to publish Bramble: The Mountain King!

We’re so excited to take you on a journey through the beautiful yet deadly forests of Bramble and introduce you to the creatures inspired by Nordic folklore tales that call them home. Some may be quite friendly, but there are plenty with far more sinister motives…

Bramble: The Mountain King featured in the 7th GamesRadar Future Games Showcase with a special deep dive into the lore behind one of the terrifying creatures you must contend with.

The Nacken had an innocuous beginning in life, a simple man who loved to play the violin, but as with all good dark fairy-tale stories, things took a sinister turn and the world was left with the fearsome Nacken, living in a lake luring people to their death with its enchanting music.

Find out more in Bramble: Origins – The Näcken.

Creatures of the Forest - Part II

Dark forest, full of life.
Many things hide inside.

Many creatures big and small,
Call this place their own home.

Hello everyone,

Some time ago we showed you a few of the inhabitants living in the Bramble forest. Some of them are friendly, while others are a deadly threat. However, all of them are inspired by Nordic folklore. Today, we want to share with you a few concept pieces which show the residents of the Bramble world.

Bramble Fairy, at first glance, they look like sweet little fairies. But do not be fooled by their beauty since they are quite wicked.

Bramble Moose, at a first glance, this creature that looks like a moose, but when you take a closer look you can tell that his hooves are quite different. Don’t worry though, as he mostly minds his own business and strolls around deep in the forests.

Myling, the spirit of an unbaptized child, usually drowned by their own mothers.

We hope that you liked our concept pieces and the stories behind them. We are working hard on the game, and we’ll be sharing with you more news on Bramble in the next year. In the meantime though, tell us what you think about those pieces? What about the game itself? We want to hear from you, so type away below.

And if you haven't done so already, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as we share more little bits of info on the game there too. So join us there!

Until next time,

Dimfrost Team
