v0.1.14 is live!

Hi everyone! Got a few more bug fixes for you all today, focusing again on softlocks and freezes. In particular, we’ve noticed some issues during certain parts of dialogue, and finishing up tea with lots of ingredients in it. Those should be all ironed out now, so please let us know in the bug reporter if they’re persisting!

We’ve also fixed a bug with Friendship Cutscenes, where some testing placeholders were left in by mistake. Make sure you talk to and make tea for your fellow residents to bring up your Friendship Points with them and get to know them even better in these cutscenes!

Full list of improvements and bug fixes below:

Launch Week Round-up and Update v0.1.13!

It’s now been just over a week since Pekoe’s Early Access Launch! Seeing all of your reactions, feedback, and even bug reports has been so incredible. In large part thanks to all of your support, this is now our seventh patch update since we first launched!

With most of the major bugs and progress blockers (hopefully!) taken care of, we’ll be gradually switching over to larger, less frequent updates. These will include more gameplay changes and improvements, and incorporate some of the less urgent but no less valuable feedback we’ve received from players like you. We plan to release our first major patch, Version 0.2, by the end of the month, if not sooner. We’ll also be releasing a more detailed roadmap of future updates soon!

This particular patch focuses on those progress-blocking and physics related bugs, as well as smoothing out the customer order experience, based on your feedback. We’ve also fixed a brand new Blooming Tea bug inadvertently caused by the previous patch.

For those of you who haven’t been following along with every patch, we’ve compiled some of the more significant bug fixes and improvements since our launch, and added them to the end of this update. Our launch discount will last until the end of the Steam Summer Sale on July 13th, so if you’ve been waiting for a smoother gameplay experience before taking a chance on our Early Access game, this may be the right time for you! We hope this past week demonstrates our dedication to Pekoe's continued development, and we’d love for you to join us in making Pekoe the best game it can possibly be.

Thanks again to everyone for working hard to help us address all of these issues as quickly as possible!
Improvements
• Customers will now appear while you are inside your house!
    • As a reminder, there is a chance of a new customer or resident request at the change of each hour. Previously, you would have to exit and re-enter your teahouse in order to see the newly arrived NPC, but now they will appear while you are already inside.
  • Additional prompts have been added, to remind players to try Solo Tea Making at least once to trigger a Solo Tea Making Tutorial
    • Not completing this tutorial may have been preventing customers from entering the shop
Bugs
• Bug reports now working on Mac OS
  • Fixed blooming tea flower spawning bug
  • Fixed bug where teaware often wouldn’t instantiate properly while using Infuser Baskets
  • Fixed bug where Mjorn would remain at Player’s House if Decorating Tutorial was interrupted, preventing other customers and cats from visiting. Decorating tutorial should now resume properly, even if loading from save file.
  • Cream loading properly
    • If you are restarting from a previous save file with this issue, speak to Mjorn one more time, then enter and exit the Decorating screen to properly end the tutorial

Bugs & Balance Updates!

Hi everyone, we’ve got a second patch update for you this week! This one focuses on some lingering game-lock bugs we’ve noticed, as well as some pesky lingering issues we’ve noticed when restarting from the Main Menu. We've also addressed a bunch of issues with the Infuser Baskets.

In non-bug-related news, we’ve heard a lot of feedback about the shop mechanics. While we unfortunately can’t address everything right away, we definitely want to make sure that everyone has the basics they need, so we’ve updated some of the Resident Shop inventories. Staples like Milk, Cream and Sweetener are now available at all resident shops, and what’s more, we’re going to make sure that at least one of these staples will be available every day! Make sure to progress to the next day so that your shop inventories refresh with the new system!

We really appreciate everyone who is taking the time to help us improve our game! In that vein, we’ve added some contact info fields to our bug reporter. This is to help us get all of the information we need to improve your play experience, and maybe even get you some quicker updates about when those fixes and improvements are done. Of course, we do want to stress that providing your contact info is 100% optional!

The full list of changes and bug fixes is included below:
Improvements
• Basic Milk and Sweetener ingredients made available in more shops
  • Shop inventory system adjusted to guarantee at least one milk or sugar in each shop every day
  • Updated Bug Reporter with option to provide contact info, for players who consent to being contacted with follow up questions, or notifications when the bug is fixed
  • Reduced amount of tea points award from Daily Cup Streak bonus, for balancing purposes
Bugs
• Fixed Infuser Basket issues (getting stuck on cup, not resetting correctly)
  • Fixed bug where game locks when entering shops, after restarting from main menu
  • Fixed bug where button selection cursors wouldn’t show properly in Journal Menu (Resident Panel and Recipe Panels)
  • Fixed bug where drinking tea would not work with a glass bowl
  • Fixed “empty bubble” on Taffy’s dialogue, during conversation about sleeping
  • Butter now properly generates from containers

Build v0.1.10 is here!

Hey everyone, thanks for being patient with us.

As some of you may have seen, we released Patch 0.1.09 yesterday, found that it affected save data, and took it down within an hour.

The good news is that the bug is fixed for this patch, and a new system is set up that should prevent this issue going forward. The bad news is that aspects of some saves will be affected, especially save files that have been used across multiple patches.

The biggest thing being affected is purchased items, especially the strawberry teaware set, any newer decor items, and ingredients. While we can get an approximate idea of which save files are missing items, we were not able to recover an exact record of what has been purchased.

To help make up for these lost items, all existing save files will be rewarded beans as compensation the first time they are loaded using the latest version of the game. Save files that are missing items will also receive an additional bonus per missing item.

This version also includes improvements and bug fixes that were originally released as part of Version 0.1.09
Improvements
• Updated Pambeh’s meows
  • Updated Credits
  • Increasing chances of having Friendship-Point Altering Dialogue with resident cats
  • Adjusted Bed & Breakfast shop hours to be open earlier
  • Updated Save system
Bugs
• Fixed bug where tea or water would render entirely in black
  • Fixed bug where players were locked into Inventory menu, if checked during certain parts of the game intro
  • Fixed bug in final line of Mjorn’s dialogue when starting the Decor tutorial, which caused game to stall at a blank dialogue box
  • Fixed bug where Decor tutorial could be triggered a second time when reaching Town Level 3
  • Fixed issue with lower-case scripting commands which was preventing progression in Intro
  • Dried fruit, butter, and other ingredients that use the Rounded Cube ingredient shape no longer causing errors
  • Almond, Cocoa, Hazelnut powder, and Chaga should be working properly
  • Fixing incorrect prompt for Whisk in Teaware Selection when using Blooming Tea
  • Fixed bug where dialogue stalls during Min’s intro, due to ellipses in line “...Oh…”
  • Glass bottles should now properly render liquid meshes (though some of them still need a material update)

Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we work through all of these bugs, and a special thank you to everyone who has submitted bug reports, they’ve been incredibly helpful!
