The Critter Cove Early Access Roadmap

Hey Critters!

We're launching into Early Access in less than 24 hours, so we thought now would be a great time to share with you all what we'll be working on during our Early Access period, along with some common questions about tomorrow.

We're going in with a strong plan and have two big updates already in the works that we can share the info for right away!
The Roadmap
Tomorrow... we launch! Here's a full list of the upcoming features you'll be able to enjoy from tomorrow, including over 300 bug fixes and QoL improvements from the demo:

After launch, we'll start work on our first major update, which will include an expansion to the world of Critter Cove that will increase its size by ANOTHER third, along with some more major questlines and adding the bakery and gym to the village.

Our second major update will include more ways to manage tourists, even more world locations and an expansion to the town including the salon, clinic and school. You'll be able to create your own Critters that will appear in the world, and we'll be adding seasonal events and birthdays for even more variety:

These plans are of course subject to change. We might move some stuff earlier, we may push some stuff back, and we'll certainly be adding and tweaking stuff based on YOUR feedback. But after a year of demos and playtests and working with our community, we're confident these next two HUGE updates will be exciting and meaningful.

Our early access launch is really just the start of our journey, so we'd love for you to join us tomorrow and be a part of it.
What languages will Critter Cove launch with?
Tomorrow we'll be launching the game in English, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, French and Russian. We're still working on a German and Spanish translation, which we'll be adding during Early Access. To avoid confusion, we've removed German and Spanish from our Steam page a few weeks back, but just a further notice that it may be a little while before those go in!
Carrying saves from the demo
Tomorrow you should be able to simply load the main game and play straight from your demo save without having to mess with any files. Due to how Steam works, this is something that is tricky to test before launch. If there are any problems that come up during launch, or any additional steps required, we'll post about them here, on Discord, and on the forums.

Once you've saved in the full game though, don't try to load that save in the demo! This could lead to your save corrupting. We recommend that you uninstall the demo after you've installed the main game and never look back.
Our future save plans
Our plan is to develop the game in a way where you won't have to restart the game at any point and can still pick up your save during each update. We cannot absolutely guarantee this of course, but we've successfully managed to make our demo compatible with the main game despite the main game having a huge amount of updates, so we're hoping we can continue that process throughout all of Early Access.
How to contact us
The best place to hang out for support and help with the game will be our Discord, but we'll also be keeping an eye on the Steam forums if you need help.

Critter Cove is Coming To Early Access September 10th

Critter Cove is launching in a weeks time!

The game has absolutely been a labor of love. We have tried to perfect everything about this archipelago and its quirky cast of characters, and we know that our loyal fans are growing ever more anxious to get out there and explore.

But this launch certainly isn’t the end of our journey together, so don’t be jumping out this bathtub-boat quite so fast!

Through numerous playtests and our demo, we have already received and incorporated so much invaluable feedback. Major features like friendship bracelets, which help you locate villagers, and accessibility options such as motion sickness tools wouldn’t be in the game without direct feedback from you guys!
How we’re approaching Early Access
For us, Early Access is the best of both worlds. Players get the chance to explore the world and give us feedback as they play. We’re already used to working with our community and we’ve launched a CHUNKY demo to explore -- go and play that if you haven’t yet, because saves will carry over to the full game!

During Early Access, we'll continue fine-tuning the experience while also bringing you brand new world areas, new characters and quests during the Early Access period. We've got a full road map that we're working towards and we'll be sharing that here just before launch!

On launch day you'll find new islands, outposts and underwater points of interest (including the much anticipated Sunken City) to explore, which will expand the game’s playable area several times over.

You'll also get the chance to truly upgrade your town, develop your farming expertise (both on land and underwater), explore new islands as well as the oceanic expanses in between, develop tourism into a thriving business, and discover and build hundreds of new crafting recipes.

In the Early Access launch, the Museum, Clothing Store, Bait Shop, Tavern and the Furniture Store await your upgrades, and several kiosk-style carts have been added for you to discover, craft and stock, much to the delight of your visiting tourists. And the most exciting news for our angling fans is the addition of fishing, via the fully decked out bait shop:

On the customization front, character creation has even more options, and there is now a way to change your character’s appearance if you decide you really DID want those dragon wings after all. There are new recipes, new plants and seeds, new critters to meet and new critter housing options. You can even get a wetsuit and fins to assist you in your deeper cold water diving expeditions!
What’s Next?
Before launch, we’ll be revealing our roadmap for Early Access which will include some details with regard to the next two big updates and how we’re going to expand the world even further, of course in terms of new islands, but also new biomes and new features that will unlock as you grow the town.

But like any good Early Access game, such plans are designed to be developed with our players in mind, so we encourage everyone to jump on Discord with us and join us on this adventure. See you on the island!

Demo Version 4: Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese Added!

Ahoy Critters!

We've made some small bug fixes to the demo and added some new languages!
New Languages: Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese
This in addition to the Chinese and Russian support already in the demo. We've done our best to test the new languages, but keep in mind this is still a demo and things might not be perfect! We'd love to hear your feedback / any bugs relating to other languages, either in the comments here or over on the forums!
Cloud Sync
Processing save files to prepare them for steam cloud sync. We will be turning on sync shortly. Sync will share and synchronize your saves between devices (laptop/desktop/steam deck). If you manually copied save files between devices you may end up with duplicate saves. Just delete the extra ones as needed. Open the game and then quit to allow the sync process to work fully.

It is recommend to allow steam to upload the data before going to another device to sync.

For Steam Deck it is recommend to quit fully out and reopen if you are in a suspend state. Reopen, then let the files get processed and then quit again to fully allow synchronization to work.

This is a one time process and will not be needed moving forward.
Bug fixes
Fixed a cooking bug where extra raw resources where being consumed when cooking multiple items.
