SMALL UPDATE: AVAILABLE FOR MAC / WE'RE WORKING ON VIVE

The Mac version of DESOLATIUM: PROLOGUE is already available! So Mac people can already enjoy the game.

About Vive, we are working on it, but it is taking us time because the version of the graphics engine we use (Unreal Engine) is giving us problems. Still, we hope to have it ready asap!

Thanks for your patience.

DESOLATIUM: PROLOGUE improved version available NOW!

Hello cultists!

A few months ago we came up with the idea of making a shorter game, while we keep developing DESOLATIUM, in order to make the wait more bearable. And this is how DESOLATIUM: PROLOGUE was born.

It was at first published on Steam for our backers to try it and thanks to their feedback, we developed a new and improved version.

WHAT’S NEW?

 • Better Sound
 • Improved quality of videos
 • Redesigned notes and dialoges
 • Steam Achievements!

This new version of DESOLATIUM: PROLOGUE is available for everyone!

We would love to read your opinions, in order to keep moving forward and to give you the best possible experience with the final game, DESOLATIUM.

If you still haven’t played, get ready to experience this prologue! If you already have, you can leave your review, that helps us a lot! But remember that, for now, Cthulhu is on our side 🐙

Discover some of the references to LOVECRAFT and other horror classics!

There is just one week left to Desolatium: Prologue release (June 4), so we thought about giving you some clues about the game.
As you know, Desolatium is based on Lovecraft Mythos and therefore, it’s full of references to the lovecraftian universe, but also to other horror classics.
In Desolatium: Prologue you not only have to be aware of everything that happens, but of everything that you see. Every single thing is there for a reason, so if you want to discover some references that you may missed or keep them in mind before playing, stay here and keep reading.

 • The first reference to the Lovecraft universe is Ulthar, a village in The Dreamlands of Earth created by him (H. P. Lovecraft). The cobbled streets of Ulthar seem to be some of the most pleasant in the mythos, and so are in the game, right? Also, have you heard those meows?

 • You may see a silver key. Does it sound familiar to you? It is an ancient artifact, the use of which unlocks gates of space and time and allows access to remote times and places of the universe. It was last in the possession of Randolph Carter, who used it to travel through the Ultimate Gate. Why is it on the game?

 • There is also a painting of a Ghoul, signed by R. U. Pickman. He is a recurring character in H. P. Lovecraft’s stories, a painter whose paintings are based on a terrifying theme plagued by monsters.

Let’s go now to the cemetery. You may spend some time looking for clues and finding names on the graves. These are some:

 • “Sutter Cane, your books took you to the top and then became your downfall. You will always live in its pages and beyond” – The mad writter from the lovecraftian movie "In the Mouth of Madness."

 • "Carol Anne Freeling. Always happy, always playing. You can finally go towards the light” - Carol Anne is the little girl from "Poltergeist."

 • Jack Torrance. Husband and father. Overlook will always remember you." - Jack is the “beloved” father of the movie "The Shining."

 • “Abdul Alhazred. The mad sorcerer. It sounds sinister." He is a recurring character in the works of H.P. Lovecraft. He is frequently cited as the author of the fabled “Necronomicon”, the original title of which was "Kitab Al-Azif", a text about arcane knowledge and ritual magic, the knowledge of which can lead to madness or even death.

These are only some of the references, but there are many more. Will you be able to find all of them?

If you want another post with the rest of the references, we will do it soon! Tell us your favourite one through our social media:

Desolatium: Prologue will be available on Steam, Itchio, Gamejolt and VivePort, soon on Oculus.

See you in Ulthar!
