Forever Skies Gameplay Spotlight - Tech-Bay & Dynamic Weather System

In true survival game fashion, supplies are in constant need for the player and Forever Skies is no different in that respect. But as always, certain supplies are not so easy to find.

Introducing, The Tech-Bay.

Our aim with these locations was to create an area with vertical gameplay, where your airship would require tech upgrades in order to reach the summit of the structure. And trust us, you WILL want to reach the summit.

These locations are packed with different items. Such as materials for you to extract, food, lost tech to reverse engineer and even artifacts of the past to decorate your airship with!

When you see this location appear on your radar, or even if you spot it on the horizon, it's always worth paying a visit. Sounds too good to be true right?!

Well, there can be a few setbacks, these 300m+ derelict structures, built by the last of humanity to escape the toxic dust below, are not so easy to reach! You certainly won’t have access to them from the start of the game.

Due to the sheer height of the structure, the base airship you start the game with simply won’t be able to achieve the altitude needed to reach the summit! You will need to equip your airship with upgrades in order to do this. More about that at a later date…

Altitude isn’t the only factor to consider when trying to reach a Tech-bay location. Another issue you might face is the dynamic weather system!

In addition to verticality, the elements will also pose a significant challenge to you when trying to reach the summit of these locations.

Lightning can destroy parts of your ship, while strong winds can prevent you from travelling in a specific direction! These are a few issues you can face when traversing the world.

What do you think? Are you excited to explore the Tech-bay? What mysteries do you expect to find? Let us know!

Forever Skies Gameplay Spotlight - Transforming An Area Of Your Airship

Greetings everyone! It's been a lot of fun sharing some of the base building elements with you over the course of February. Your support and engagement with us throughout the month has been great and your feedback has been invaluable. As a thank you, we would like to give you one more glimpse at Forever Skies base building to round off the month.

Let's look at the step-by-step process of creating a room.

Below, you see an empty corner on our airship. It's pretty bland if we’re honest and could be utilised in a better way. Let's equip the build tool and start making a cosy bedroom!

Putting in a large glass room to replace the walls makes an instant difference, it also gives you a nice view. Then add in some partition walls to give it a more cosy feel.

Next, let's fabricate ourselves some basic furniture.

Once fabricated, you can place your furniture at any angle you desire. We think this gives it a more human quality and makes the space look lived in, rather than simply placing it at set 90 degree rotations. But of course, if you do prefer to live your life with straight lines and symmetry, then this option is also available to you too with quick snapping placements.

But no room is complete without trinkets, posters, plants and more! Some of these items can be found in the world whilst exploring. There’s nothing quite like finding a toy airship hanging from the ceiling of a derelict structure, looting it and then finding the perfect home for it onboard your ACTUAL airship. Hot damn, decorating bases is fun! :D

Once these small details are in place, your new space is complete!

And here we have the before and after shots of the same space.

What do you think? What other items would you like to be able to decorate your airship with in the game? We genuinely want to hear your ideas (they might even make it into Early Access!)

What would you like to see us cover next? Let us know in the comments! :)

Forever Skies Gameplay Spotlight - Airship Interior

“Storms getting worse, guess I'll head to the top deck, fabricate some food and just hang in the airship today.”

The airship you see in these GIFs was named “The Duster” by one of our producers. We’re not exactly sure why, but we just go with it...

We will be exploring this build and others further in the future.

In previous posts, we’ve shown you how to expand your airship base and how to create custom shaped rooms using the build tool. Today, we take a look at the next step, filling your rooms!

As we showed you before, you can create separate rooms with the build tool. You can then fill a room with a food fabricator, H20 purifiers and refrigerators to create yourself a kitchen.

Another room with a single bed, desk, posters, trinkets and houseplants to make a rather comfy bedroom. But it doesn’t stop there, don’t forget to build a lab, cockpit, storage room and more!

It's not just what you put in the rooms that will make it unique to you, it's also what colour you paint the walls, what decals you decide to put up. But more on those at a later date…

Ultimately, we want to give our players total creative freedom on the appearance of their airship base. We can’t wait to see what designs you come up with during Early Access and beyond!

Forever Skies Gameplay Spotlight

Greetings, this is the second post in our GIF series. This time we take a look at a different module of the build tool, glass corner rooms!

When creating the building system in Forever Skies, we wanted players to be able to use their creativity to make unique, out of the ordinary designs for every airship. To support this, we added the ability to create rooms with "custom shapes".

Check out the GIF below showing the build tool in action...

These modules are perfect for creating your own observation areas on your airship. Whether you want to observe a specific structure reaching out of the dust, or to get a full 360 degree view of your surroundings.

And talking of surroundings…

Here you get a little sneak peak of the world (or what's left of it) in Forever Skies. As you can see, this is early development footage and doesn’t represent the game's final quality. But you get a good view of the dust-shrouded landscape and also a first look at one of the locations you can explore. What could the lone scientist need in such derelict ruins?

Do you like what you see? Let us know! :)

Forever Skies Gameplay Spotlight - The Build Tool

Hi! Today we would like to start a series of posts showing Forever Skies gameplay in more detail. Let’s talk airship building!

As you may already know your main base of operation is your airship. At some stage, you will have to expand it and rebuild parts of it when responding to environmental damage.
You will need more space to add specialized parts of the airship for laboratory, workshop, kitchen and much more. Additionally Forever Skies will offer you many customization options. We simply want players to have their very own flying base! The Build Tool which you will use to expand your base is very versatile and offers plenty of options from the start. In time and based on your discoveries, it will allow you to add more schematics. Of course in order to use the build tool you will have to get specific resources, this will be discussed in the future.

Please check out the GIFs below showing the build tool in action:

The tool enables you to build entire rooms with just one press of a button (providing you have the necessary materials). Making base building simple and easy! Once the structures are in place, add walls, windows, doors and more to make rooms complete!

The GIFs shows you some of the basic functions of the build tool, but that's not all! The tool can be used to make entire glass rooms, create different levels with ladders between floors and many more functions. We can’t wait to show you more very soon!

Also look! Build tool concept art!
