Forever Skies Extended Trailer Unveiled!

Greetings everyone! Our extended gameplay trailer just dropped! You can find it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlSYf0M-1Lc

Trailer Breakdown

The new trailer follows our main protagonist; a lone scientist, desperately searching for answers in the aftermath of an ecological disaster in which civilization as we know it on Earth has been completely destroyed. Players must explore ruins above and below the toxic dust in this alien new world, collecting samples and hunting for viral pathogens to find a cure for what remains of humanity, both on foot and in a fully adaptable futuristic airship.

Our protagonist is a scientist on a mission. He’s equipped with an arsenal of tools, many of which you get a glimpse of in the new trailer.

So let's break down the trailer into more detail…

First off, we have the Hand Extractor. This tool gives you the ability to breakdown materials such as metal, glass, synthetic material and others down to a molecular level. These materials can then be repurposed and fabricated into useful items to help you survive or parts for your airship with the Build Tool.

We’ve shown many of the Build Tool functions in previous weeks. From creating entire rooms, walls, doors and more. In the trailer, the lone scientist uses it to materialise a ladder to reach a recently damaged part of their airship.

The dynamic weather in Forever Skies can be unpredictable and unforgivable. Lightning and other factors will damage parts of your airship, preventing it from functioning correctly.

Enter the Repair Tool! This handy piece of hardware can repair damage to your ship's hull and also your equipment using its nano-bot repair foam. It makes a brief appearance in the trailer after lightning damages one of your turbines.

Despite this set back, the journey into the derelict town was worth it, having managed to secure data on the location of a much needed virus strain sample.

The Scanner Tool is incredibly useful. You see it in the trailer being used to extract data from a pre-disaster terminal, but this isn’t the only use. It can also be used to help reverse engineer old technology, identify different types of materials and solve puzzles. It can also be used on organic material too, to give you nutritional information on food that you might find in the world or whether that body of water you just found is safe enough to drink!

A core mechanic of Forever Skies will be collecting virus samples, modifying them to create different pathogens with different effects. By scanning the terminal, the lone scientist discovers what kind of sample it is and its location…under the dust.

Getting under the dust isn’t as simple as lowering your airship's altitude. In fact, we would HIGHLY discourage you from doing that. The dust will cause a lot of damage to your airship's hull. Instead you will be required to locate a surface lift location which can be found dotted around the world, these will take you down to the perilous surface level.

After descending below the dust, you will discover a strange new world, the planet's surface that changed in our absence. Be prepared to face evolved fauna and flora while you explore the surface of what was once our planet.

Forever Skies Gameplay Spotlight - Tech-Bay & Dynamic Weather System

In true survival game fashion, supplies are in constant need for the player and Forever Skies is no different in that respect. But as always, certain supplies are not so easy to find.

Introducing, The Tech-Bay.

Our aim with these locations was to create an area with vertical gameplay, where your airship would require tech upgrades in order to reach the summit of the structure. And trust us, you WILL want to reach the summit.

These locations are packed with different items. Such as materials for you to extract, food, lost tech to reverse engineer and even artifacts of the past to decorate your airship with!

When you see this location appear on your radar, or even if you spot it on the horizon, it's always worth paying a visit. Sounds too good to be true right?!

Well, there can be a few setbacks, these 300m+ derelict structures, built by the last of humanity to escape the toxic dust below, are not so easy to reach! You certainly won’t have access to them from the start of the game.

Due to the sheer height of the structure, the base airship you start the game with simply won’t be able to achieve the altitude needed to reach the summit! You will need to equip your airship with upgrades in order to do this. More about that at a later date…

Altitude isn’t the only factor to consider when trying to reach a Tech-bay location. Another issue you might face is the dynamic weather system!

In addition to verticality, the elements will also pose a significant challenge to you when trying to reach the summit of these locations.

Lightning can destroy parts of your ship, while strong winds can prevent you from travelling in a specific direction! These are a few issues you can face when traversing the world.

What do you think? Are you excited to explore the Tech-bay? What mysteries do you expect to find? Let us know!
