EA.1.0.2 Info and Patch Notes

Greetings scientists!

The first Forever Skies patch is here! Below we have spotlighted some of the highlights of the update and also the full patch notes!
NEW LOCATION: HIGH POINT
A new Wind Farm variant can now be found in Forever Skies, called High Point. This new variant contains not one, but TWO new tech items for players to discover and research. Both of which have been highly requested. You will need to reach a very high altitude to gain access to the entirety of this location.
NEW TECH: DOCKING PLANK
The first piece of tech you will find here is the blueprints for the Docking Plank. A useful tool for landing in hard-to-reach areas, and especially useful for players with large Airships who can no longer land their floating behemoths in the traditional manner.

Extend the catwalk to the desired length, and adjust the position as high or as low as you need. This new item makes landing at locations much easier.

But there is more to find here…

As well as all of the usual loot you would expect to find at Wind Farms, there is one more item to find here. And it’s the answer to one of the most highly requested additions since we launched into Early Access…
NEW TECH: RECYCLER
It exists! And it's coming to the First Ascent update. Got any old Small Storage Boxes or Glass Bottles you want to recycle back into raw materials? Well, now you can with the handy Recycler. Just place the item you want to recycle in the box and after a short moment, the basic materials will be presented to the player on a 360-degree rotation device.

This machine wouldn’t have been possible without your feedback, so let us know what you think of the design!
CHANGES TO INVENTORY:
To put it simply, we’re increasing inventory size by 25%. Some items will now stack that didn’t before, like battery types. And total stack quantities are also being increased too. More details below:

Extractable item stacks have increased from 50 to 100
Picked-up item stacks have increased from 20 to 25
Rare pick-up items have increased from 5 to 10
But that's not all…
We’ve also increased the number of slots for the Small Storage Boxes & Hanging Shelves.
Finally, we've reduced the cost of fabricating certain Pickup items like Machine Parts & Plastic Scraps!
NEW COLOURS FOR THE PAINT TOOL:
This one is pretty self-explanatory, more colours are coming. We have also fixed the spawn rate of Petit Astre plants. Meaning crafting Cartridges will be easier.
NEW TECH UPGRADE: ADVANCED AUTO-EXTRACTOR
The final new item we’re showcasing is the Upgraded Auto-Extractor. Thanks to your feedback about the basic model, we decided to create an advanced model, that included some of the features that you guys requested.

Players now have more control over the tool:

- The ability to filter what extractable resources are collected
- Assign up to 4 containers (or none at all) for one specific resource
- The ability to save power by turning off the Extractor when it's not needed

To get this upgraded model on board your airship, you will need to find and secure the blueprints for it first! Have fun, scientists.

Forever Skies Test Branch Now Open | Test Upcoming Patch Content
Hello Scientists.
Some exciting news!
We are opening a special Forever Skies Test Branch that will give players access to the upcoming patch before it is added to the main game.
We have been getting quite a few requests from players about the possibility to test and feedback updates as for many of you, this is the part of Early Access that you enjoy the most – seeing how things change, develop, and having a say in how things shape up.

The test branch is designed to gather feedback, identify potential issues, and make necessary improvements before the official release. So please do consider taking part only if you believe you will have time to test and submit feedback.

(New Docking Plank Device)
Open to All Owners of the Game + Share and Discuss Freely
The Test Branch will work for anyone who owns a copy of Forever Skies. You are also all welcome to share and talk about anything you encounter on the Test Branch freely. No NDAs are required.
No Content is Set in Stone
Any content encountered in the Test Branch is still subject to change after testing.
Existing Saves Won’t be Affected but use an Imported Save To Play the Test Branch
Your existing saves, progress, and any custom settings you’ve set in from the main game won’t be carried over to the Test Branch. Your pc will see this as if you are installing and playing the game for the first time ever. Likewise, by playing on the Test Branch, your main saves should not be affected at all.

This also means any progress on the test branch will not be carried over to the main game once the update is live. The test branch is designed to allow you to explore and test new features without impacting your current progress.

Players can opt to play the test branch starting a fresh save, however, if you want to test new content with your existing progress, airship, etc (and we suggest you do) you will need to make a copy of your main game save and import it into the test branch. Instructions on how to do it can be found below.
How To Access the Test Branch
• Open the Steam application on your PC and locate Forever Skies in your games library
  • Right click - PROPERTIES- BETAS
  • Put in the password: BlimpWorkshop
  • From the dropdown menu select the beta branch tilted: beta_flight
  • Press the blue “Opt into beta_flight…” button
  • In your Games Library click on Forever Skies [beta_flight]
  • Install the Test Branch
How To Create and Load Existing Saves into the Test Branch
Your existing saves for the main game are stored in a different folder compared to your saves on the test branch. If you want to continue and test the game using your existing progress, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Locate your save files on your PC. By default they should be stored in the following file path:
    C:\Users\\AppData\Local\ProjectZeppelin\Saved\SaveGames\
  • Select the save file that you want to test your progress on, right-click, copy.
  • Located your Test Branch save file folder. By default they should be stored in the following file path:
    C:\Users\\AppData\Local\ProjectZeppelin\Saved_BetaFlight\SaveGames\
  • Paste your copied save file into this location
  • As a precaution make a 2nd copy of your save file and paste it somewhere on your desktop or in a safe folder. This way you can ensure you have a clean, backup save just in case.

After you have done the above, you can start the Forever Skies Test Branch from Steam and your save will be present when you select “CONTINUE”

(New Recycler Device)
Where to Submit Bugs
All bugs or issues that you encounter while playing should be submitted via the FEEDBACK TOOL that you can find in-game when pausing the game. Subsequently, you can find the tool under this link too:
https://www.farfromhomegames.com/en/playtests
(New Auto Extractor Device)

We are immensely excited about working even more closely with our dedicated community to ensure that our updates and content align with your expectations. Thank you for your unwavering support and enthusiasm for Forever Skies and for wanting to help us shape the game together.

Below is the patch notes to give you a better idea of what to look out for.

Next Patch Planned for First Half of July: Fixes, Balance Tweaks and New Content
Hello Scientists
After about a week since our Early Access launch, we’ve been hard at work on our first patch which will bring a collection of fixes, improvements, and also some new content. We have been scouring feedback from our community and have pinpointed some tweaks and content requests that can be added relatively quickly, so instead of holding them for our larger planned content updates, we decided to add them into this upcoming patch.

We don’t want to give away the whole list right now as there is still a chance some things can be added or pushed to a later update if testing proves the need. However, we are excited to highlight one particular addition, especially for all those who have created some absolute beast-sized airships that have become a little more difficult to “park”.
We will be adding a Docking Plank Device:
Now you can safely float your hulking behemoth airship over to the sides of a tower, roll out your metal “red carpet” and walk over with full grace and dignity compared to what some of you are doing now.

Our goal is to have this patch developed, tested, and shipped by mid-July.

You can expect a variety of changes, including balance tweaks, quality-of-life upgrades for tools, additional accessibility options, full controller support, and, of course, a few new devices and items to enhance your airship to name just a few.

See you in the skies.
