1.0.1.0 Public Beta Branch

Next to all the hotfixes we supplied during our first week after our 1.0 launch we have been working tirelessly on the next major milestone for Striving for Light. It has been a crazy week for us! Thank you for your massive support
Update 1.0.1.0 is progressing quite well and we decided to open up the public beta branch on steam so that you can help us battle test and enjoy the new features already ahead of time.

We have heard your feedback, so we are happy to announce performance improvements, also lootdrops will not fall onto traps anymore, less traps, and some balancing changes to very broken builds and much more!

To select the public beta go to steam library -> Striving for Light -> Properties -> Betas -> public-beta
Make sure to backup your saves, just in case: %appdata%/Godot/app_userdata/StrivingForLight

We want to give you the possibility to try out the changes and give us your valuable feedback to further shape 1.0.1.0.

[h3]New Features:[/h3]
  • Loot and Trap collisions: Loot will not be able to drop onto traps anymore and moves away from the traps to allow hassle free pickups.


[h3]Performance Improvements[/h3]
  • Performance Improvements for Tooltips: The entire tooltip system was rewritten to support lazy tooltip loading. Tooltips will now only be loaded when hovering reducing skilltree/pathfinder and all other UI loading times.
  • Performance Improvements for Translations: All translations are now cached to further reduce loading times on skilltree/ pathfinder and UI elements.
  • Performance Improvements for all AoE Effects: The effect system got upgraded for improved performance spawning dozens of effects at once.
  • Engine Upgrade: Engine was upgraded for improved performance on instantiating/ removing objects during gameplay


[h3]Major Changes and Improvements[/h3]
  • Softcore Mode Rename: Softcore Mode was renamed to Normal Mode to not trigger false expectations.
  • Glaring Light is now displayed with proper perspective
  • Decreased map loot chest item drop force to make items slide less
  • Projectile Range stat has been added to the stats window.


[h3]Balancing[/h3]
  • Less Traps: Overall less traps are spawned. The amount of maximum traps that can spawn per map has also been reduced. The trap scaling is now as well much flatter.
  • Heleja Specialisation - Blink: now grants +2 additional dodge (was 1), decreases your dodge regeneration by -25%
  • Range Attack Replacers: Swirl and Revert shot now have a capped distance increase
  • Increased Projectile Range: Increased Projectile range is now capped at the double initial projectile range
  • Dodge Regeneration: Increases Dodge Regeneration +7 % (was +10%)
  • Dodge Regeneration Legacy Nodes: Increases Dodge Regeneration +5% (was 15%)
  • Slightly higher enemy HP scaling during very late endgame
  • Slightly more map mods spawn on high tier maps

Hotfix 1.0.0.8f

Hotfix 1.0.0.8f fixes some crashes related to rapid firing controller inputs within the skilltree.

[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a crash on rapid firing controller input when switching between input types on the skilltree
  • Fixed a crash on rapid firing controller input when using controller to spend character specialisation points
  • Fixed lost focus after refunding character specialisations with controller input

Update 1.0.0.8

Update 1.0.0.8 is bringing general improvements to the game performance, a crashfix, drop rate balancing, as well as major improvements to the game tutorials that should prevent confusion and help new players to better understand the game's systems.

[h3]New Features[/h3]
  • New Weapon Stash Tutorial: A new weapon stash tutorial has been added highlighting how that you can switch to stash the first time picking up a weapon. Also a new weapon swap tutorial for the stash has been added that highlights the ability to swap your equipped with the stashed weapon.
  • New Deactivated Skill Flag: When deactivating a skill node a new deactivated flag will now be added above the skill description to make it easier for players to understand when a skill is activated and when it is deactivated.


[h3]Major Changes and Improvements[/h3]
  • Minimap Rework: The minimap system has been rewritten for overall improved performance and for improved robustness. Rare cases especially on very fast inputs could cause the minimap fog update to crash the game. This should now be solved by the new minimap rework.
  • Improved Skillshard Tutorials: Skill shard tutorials now only appear then you actually collected on of the skill shards (Shard of Conjunction, Shard of Change, Shard of Refund) and they now also do not appear all at once to not overwealm players with a wall of text. We understand that this might that these tutorials have caused confusion, especially if they have been poping up but you did not even have one of these shards to complete them.
  • Revert Shot now reverts projectile attack directly slightly earlier so that scattering projectiles are able to hit the target they have scattered on.
  • Improved abandon run description to make it clear that abandoning your run will make your current character vanish but keeping your meta progression.
  • General performance improvements for attackdirection handling (v.1.0.0.8e)


[h3]Balancing[/h3]
  • Increased drop rate for Shard Of Augmentation


[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a crash when firing very fast inputs mostly from controllers that could crash the game due to too frequent minimap updates. This is now fixed with the minimap reword and also leads to improved overall game performance.
  • Fixed wrong button controller enter skilltree button indicator on ground tutorial
  • Fixed not being able to pick up trinkets near descent defense tower
  • Fixed a crash when selecting a map and entering a map in lighning fast clicking speed
  • Fixed a potential crash when opening the skilltree with plenty of AoE skills active
  • Fixed scaling issue on view seasonal challenges UI (v.1.0.0.8d)
  • Fixed wrong english localisations (v.1.0.0.8d)
  • Fixed leaderboard lists scrolling to the bottom when clicking onto the scroll container (v.1.0.0.8d)
  • Fixed deactivated flag displayed on all unskilled skillnodes (v.1.0.0.8e)

Update 1.0.0.7

Update 1.0.0.7 brings performance improvements to gatekeeper map boss fights as well as visual improvements to the shield gained visual effect on softcore game mode.

[h3]Major Changes and Improvements[/h3]
  • Performance Improvements to all Map Boss Fights: Endboss arena condition checks and logic has been rewritten for improved performance.
  • Leaderboard database now supports very large skilltree > player level 400. This might be a bit beyond the initial range of game design you can now continue blasting :D


[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]
  • Fixed swaped french and spanish translations on the game difficulty settings menu
  • Fixed event details not being able to be opened
  • Fixed a small border gap in the main menu screen

Hotfix 1.0.0.6b-c

Hotfix 1.0.0.6b is bringing another fix to the boss shield bug that occured when on very high player levels >300 with a very huge boss HP pool rendering the bosses invincible.

  • Fixed error in fetching rift leaderboard data
