Update 0.56.0 - FREE Weapon Camo System (50+ Skins) & New Map

Hey Soldiers!

We’re finally dropping the first big update for Mini Royale! This one adds a full FREE camo system for your weapons. You’ll earn points just by playing, and you can trade those in for skins. For the higher skill players, you can enable a Challenger Mode to get bonus points in return for less damage output.

We also brought back an older version of the map, reworked and tuned up. Some of you might recognize it — shoutout to the OGs who remember the early days. For now both maps will be in the map pool.

Full Patch Notes:
  • Added Camo System and first 5 levels for EACH weapon. Once you have every weapon of a level, you an unlock the baton for that level. You need points to redeem each weapon level and the way you can gather is different for each weapon (kills, damage, headshots, 100m+ kills). The challenger mode will allow skilled players to progress the camo weapon more quickly - but only if they perform really well with a lower damage output.
  • Added Leaderboard: Highest Challenger Kills in a single game
  • Added an updated version of a older Mini Royale Map
  • Small fixes regarding Bots and the navigation has been improved
  • Updated EOS SDK for bug fixes & better performance
  • Minor Performance Optimizations
  • Added tourney delete function

  • Fixed Quest: Make a kill in the first 60 seconds of the match

Update 0.55.0 - Casual Updates & dynamic Zone Times

Why did we introduce casual lobbies?
From the ingame data to feedback directly from you: It is clear most new players don't want play with high skilled players in their first match. So we needed a solution for that. There are other options - sure. But with a "small" playerbase (we are still so happy about ~25k daily active player in the last couple days) something like SBMM is not feasible. Casual lobbies were intended as a short time replacement only for new players.

What happened?
Casual lobbies - no matter the exact reason - were MUCH more queued than expected. This did what we tried to prevent - splitting the playerbase. That was NOT our intention - we just tried to allow new players to get warm with the game until they go into normal lobbies.

What are we changing to fix it?
Ranked is getting disabled for now because its just not played enough right now (a reintroduction with proper ranks and rewards will be come when the playerbase is more stable). We will change how casual lobbies are selected for new players: A new settings will have three modes [Automatic, Casual, Normal]. It will default to automatic and lead to the following behavior: Players from level 1-5 will get into casual games and players above will get into normal queues. You can edit this setting to override whatever you want to play. In the midterm we will add more metadata for our systems in order to get proper indicators for such decisions.

We will be able to tweak queue settings live based on the queue times and act accordingly.
We are also working on the fixing all the bugs that appeared. Hopefully we will have the update ready tomorrow. We’re not a AAA studio with hundreds of devs. We’re a small team building this game with you, not just for you. We truly appreciate your passion – even when it’s critical – and we’re doing our best to respond fast and transparently.

In addition we also added dynamic zone times so that if there are some matches with less players the action is more condensed.

Update 0.54.0 #2

Hey Soldiers!

As you may know we started testing Casual Lobbies today (meaning Lobbies have a mix of Players and Bots)
The main reason that we implemented these was to give new Players a less frustrating and more welcoming experience.
Previously new players were put in the same Lobby as super experienced players which often lead to new players quitting the game before giving it a "proper chance".

The reason we added a Level Cap to the Casual Lobbies was to prevent this case, but as you may experienced that lead to long queue times for Players that didn't have the option to queue into Casual Lobbies.

Some people mentioned that we should rather have SBMM System to reduce the mentioned problem, but even that would leave lots of players with a bad experience.

So, the idea was to have Bots in the Casual Lobbies, so everyone has a chance to experience the Game, make eliminations and learn the game mechanics.
And even though there are bots in the Lobby, players will still face each other off in the final circles in real encounters.

We will definitely have to test out a lot to find a good balance. ⚖️

For now, we will remove the Level Cap from Casual Lobbies, so even if new players get queued with really experienced Players, they can still get eliminations, loot and have fun 🔓
Thank you for all the valuable feedback and hopefully we will find a balanced way of Matchmaking in the future! ♥️
