2024.14.3 Update Release

2024.14.3 continues to bring more of the features and improvements targeted ahead of LTS 2026.

Note that this release does add or change quite a few important bits of functionality, so please do read the full release notes carefully (linked below).

As just a few of the changes:

* Reddit target has been added
* Preferences can now import existing values from any other GM installs you may have
* Vsync now defaults to ON for all new projects
* Lots of new functionality for Prefabs
* Variable Definitions now more-accurately validate the values you are typing, to stop build fails and coding mistakes causing in-game bugs (and now if a compile error is caused by a Variable Definition, the window will open when you double-click the error in the bottom dock)

For all the info, please see the 2024.14.3 release notes: https://releases.gamemaker.io/release-notes/2024/14_3

2024.14.2 Update Release (IDE 213/RT 256)

A small, but very important release to bring fixes for the top issues reported to us since the original .2 release last week: plugin safe mode, HTML5 builds, Vsync, dot notation in GML Visual, and gamepads.

For all the info on these 6 fixes, please see the full release notes: https://releases.gamemaker.io/release-notes/2024/14_2

* Prefabs have had a little UI styling change and now you're also able to customise your prefabs and override more of their values (plus view your customised prefabs in a new area within Quick Access)
* Windows in-game has had a variety of timing/windowing/FPS fixes to stop input lag and avoid FPS issues seen in previous releases
* Variable Definitions now allows you to add "friendly names" onto each of your variables, which can help you remember and others better understand what they do

  • Logins have changed to a more reliable newer system, and the UI for this has had a refresh also
  • GameMaker is now better at informing you/us when there has been a crash or it has gone unstable (so you may see more requests to send us a crash report)
  • GameMaker is also now better at catching a number of coding mistakes in your projects (so you may see more Code Error dialogs when testing your game).

2024.14.0 Release

2024.14 is the last major release before our new LTS release next year. 2024.14 is all planned out in terms of the remaining features to be added, but as we prepare ourselves for that forthcoming LTS, there will be more 2024.14 updates as the remaining issues intended for the LTS are fixed, as well as to catch any important bugs (not Feature Requests) that are reported as a result of these .14 releases.

Therefore, we encourage you to please report any bugs with these releases as soon as possible, so we can fix any issues before the final .14 release and LTS 2026.

This is an extremely large release and contains over 1,100 changes/fixes, so we can’t possibly list everything, but for all of the important info and links to the setup guides, etc., please see the 2024.14 release notes:

https://releases.gamemaker.io/release-notes/2024/14

And if the issue you wanted to know about is not covered on that page, see the Milestone Page link at the top of the release notes to view the full list of all public issues.
