Hello travelers!

Greetings, Snowy Prospectors!

WOW it's a fortieth devlog for Alaska Gold Fever!
I hope you had fun reading them ;) (i had fun preparing them, believe me)

So today's episode will be a bit special: i will show you some miscellaneous stuff that didn't catch up for previous devlogs. So be ready for a Quick Growing Tree, dancing cowboys, Fire That Lit My Soul and a Stone® (yes, a stone).

40 Alaska devlogs! Wooohoooo!



A clip from a testing ground for a lighting in the night. You can see an bonfire here. Also it was used for some animations tests thus this funny thing happen. This is all available animations in one big loop and speed up to 400%. Look like dancing, eh?

Fire That Lit My Soul




Yesss, so about bonfire and fire: i want to show the trick about fire in games.
You can see that this one is literally 2D sprite. But fear nothing! It will look good in 3D game ;)



Magic? Fire magic!

So HOW it is in 3D? Can you notice something in this GIF?
There is a trick. Like many tricks in Unity engine to do this but we are using this one (see below)

i think a words are unnecessary. A pic shows it all ;)
Simple but effective! So are making a game (and movies) - use simple tricks to maximize look and appearance ;)

Quick Growing Tree




As title says :D
It's just a Quick Growing Tree. I wish we had those in real world, we won't ever have an enviromental problems ;/
leafes are made separately . Why? Because sometimes you need an "empty" tree in game world. And because it's easier to make a lot of different leafes later and put them on the same tree - it will look different.

Did you know that stones can grown? Yes, really it's true! Pour them with water and wait! (dont do it at home)

Welcome to a thirty-nineth DevLog for Alaska Gold Fever!


Hello travelers!

Greetings, Snowy Prospectors!

Howdy there, daring gold seekers! Gather 'round for the frostiest update from the frigid lands of the Klondike in this installment of the Alaska Gold Fever devlog. Grab your thermal pickaxes, dust off those snow-covered nuggets ( 😉 ), and let's plunge into the icy realm of ART!



White Island of Snow!


Welcome to the island! This island is on the big lake near a village in Alaska.
To get there you must use a boat. Why just not swim? Well TECHNICALLY you CAN but swimming in cold water will dry your temperature meter and you will quickly go numb and fall into icy oblivion. Don't try it at home, kids! So let's find a ferry man and for a bit of fare he take you to the center of lake.



Frozen Rocks and Golden Blender Magic


Prospecting for gold in the Klondike involves more than just shiny nuggets; it's also about conquering the frostbitten terrain. Let's unveil the frosty magic behind the scenes!
Island is not finished, i wanted to show you a bit WIP befeore it will make it to the game. So it's naturally "white" but not from the snow :D just from "textures" (or a lack of them).
But even now it has a atmospheric climate, don't it?



Venture deeper into Island of Snow, and you'll encounter the enchanting Snowfolks – a tribe of mischievous snowmen with carrot noses and coal eyes... Just kidding! What if our Alaska had those kind of monsters hidden in snow? Hope we never know... Okay but island HAVE some mysterious inhabitants. But you will learn them by yourself! Quests are waiting for brave cowboys! (and GOLDboys)

Welcome to a thirty-eight DevLog for Alaska Gold Fever!


Hello travelers!

Howdy, adventurous gold seekers!
We've got some electrifying updates from the Klondike in this edition of the Alaska Gold Fever devlog. So, grab your pickaxes, polish those nuggets ( 😉 ), and let's dive into the world of ART! (and technical stuff)


Powering Up!


Those villages need some electricy!
And a prospectors need some lines for their work! How to do that in Unity? Its not just a single "line asset" that you can use. We need a specialized tool to make those cables!



It's called WireBuilder and it's veeeery usefull in that kind of situations.
First you gonna make a approximated lenght of your line.



With WireBuilder, crafting cables is a breeze. Simply place the start and end points, adjust the curves to your liking, and voila! You've got cables snaking through your scene like the veins of the Klondike. It's so intuitive; even a bear could do it (well, almost).



Once your cables are in place, say hello to the electrifying age of cable creation !
No more wrestling with spaghetti-like confusion; successfully using this tool lets you effortlessly design and manage cables, lines etc in your game.

Rocks, Gold, and Blender - The 3D Prospector's Toolkit


Prospecting for gold in the Klondike isn't just about shiny nuggets; it's about the rugged terrain too. So, let's see some magic behind this!



Seems simple, right? Just some rocks in cavern (so rocks in...rocks...?)
I will show you how this looks like from BTS - look at this graph:



Sculpting, texturing and and meshing even simple rocks can be harder than you think! You must posses a decent wisdom about what are you doing. 3D artists are trained well in those things but they must learn a lot :D

Your rocks are now ready to be scattered across the Alaska, waiting for prospectors to uncover their secrets!

Hello travelers!

We're back with more tales from the frosty frontiers of Alaska Gold Fever! Hold on to your pickaxes, because dynamite is making its grand entrance into the gold mines!

Gold Mines - A Miner's Playground

Prepare to be amazed as we've revamped the interiors of the gold mines to be more interactive than ever. It's not just about swinging your pickaxe anymore. Navigate through perilous tunnels, solve puzzles to uncover hidden chambers, and watch out for unexpected twists and turns!



Dynamite - Unleash the Boom!


Ever had that feeling when you're mining and just wish you could speed things up a bit? Well, wish granted! Say hello to my little friend! - dynamite!
Just plant it and... BOOM! New path is unlocked. Don't worry it wont destroy the gold mine but we had this idea in the beggining. It will be just too hard on players ;)
Dynamite - Useful in a lot of situations and rememeber- it's not about destruction; it's about efficiency, right?



Each rock rendered separately


We will rock you!
Mining isn't just about swinging your pickaxe blindly anymore.
With our latest game build, we've introduced rock mechanics that add layers of strategy to your prospecting adventures - different rocks now have distinct characteristics.
What does is mean?
Some are tougher to crack, others might crumble easily, but you cant just "click left mouse button" to destroy everything (well with dynamite you can). We created the mining gameplay-loop that you must focus on each pickaxe swing! It's not just about hitting rocks; it's about understanding them :D



Prospect Smart, Not Hard


So, say goodbye to mindless tapping! Each swing of your pickaxe now matters.
Analyze the rocks in your path, and choose your strikes wisely.
Utilize different techniques for various types of rocks – from gentle taps to mighty swings – to reveal the glittering secrets within. Remember, the real gold might be just a chip away ! (yes, it is)


Never look how first person game looks like in other perspectives :D

Prospecting wouldn't be half as thrilling without the glittering allure of gold, and we've made sure there's plenty to go around. So, gear up, grab your pickaxe, and get ready to chase that elusive yellow treasure. Look how amny i collected! (too bad it is just in game...)
