Next Update Beta Test Starts 2 February!

[p]Howdy, Exofarmers!
[/p][p]Do you like trying out new things? Do you enjoy seeing weird bugs? Well have we got just the thing for you![/p][p]We will be holding a beta test for the next update, where you will be able to try out new features and content. This helps us squash bugs and fine-tune the experience![/p][p][/p]
What will be in the beta test?
[p][/p][p]This update is all about making your farmer life easier - from automating tasks to making building easier and improving performance.[/p]
  • [p]Automation - Automatically craft items in many Crafting Constructs using the new Automator. You can also fully automate water management using Pumps and Reservoirs - no Hose or Vacuum needed! [/p]
  • [p]Energy - Energize your production with the new Energy system. Build Generators and Solar Panels to give advanced crafting constructs a speed boost. Drones now work on Energy instead of Fuel! [/p]
  • [p]Perfomance improvements - Lots of optimization work all around, with FPS improvements of around 50-65% on average on late game save files! Up to 90% in some cases! [/p]
  • [p]Exofarmer Jetpack - Fly around your Home Area as the Exofarmer to make building and painting easier. You can also use it in the wilds for a height boost or to reduce fall damage![/p]
  • [p]Mech traversal improvements - The mech can now sprint cancel out of slides to maintain momentum after landings. Movement tech for skilled players, almost like that other mech game we can't legally specify! [/p]
[p]We will have more details on each of these when the beta starts. We'll also be updating the beta over time, so keep an eye out for more news![/p][p][/p]
When does the beta test start?
[p][/p][p]The beta test will be open from Monday 2 February and will run until the next update releases (to be announced!). [/p][p]The end of the beta test will transition into the release of the next update so you can keep right on playing. This includes converting your beta branch save files back to the main branch. [/p][p][/p]
How do I participate in the beta test?
[p][/p][p]The beta will be available via a branch here on Steam for anyone who owns Lightyear Frontier. [/p][p]When the beta opens, we will make another post with instructions on how to join![/p][p][/p]
Should I participate in the beta test?
[p]If the following applies to you: [/p]
  • [p]You like to try new things, including things that are not explained [/p]
  • [p]You're ready to see work-in-progress stuff, including unfinished models[/p]
  • [p]You enjoy experiencing weird glitches[/p]
  • [p]You want to help improve Lightyear Frontier and can give healthy and constructive feedback[/p]
  • [p]You looove finding and reporting bugs, ideally with clear steps on how to reproduce them[/p]
  • [p]You are not scared of crashes or lost progress
    [/p]
[p]Then you should join the beta! If not, you should stick to the main branch and wait until each update is done.[/p][p]You will be interacting with unfinished, work-in-progress features and content. You may encounter errors and bugs and the game may crash. [/p]
