Game Pass's most exciting new addition in March is a farming sim with mechs

It's a new month, which means a new set of games arriving on Microsoft's Game Pass subscription service. The arrivals begin today with stompy, old school shooter Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, and will continue before the advent of spring with the mechs-and-plants craft 'em up Lightyear Frontier and telekinetic adventure Control Ultimate Edition, among others.

Steam Next Fest Wrap up

As the dust has settled on the digital frontier after an incredible Steam Next Fest that showcased a spread of demo delights as wide as a prairie sunset, we would like to take a minute to chat and reflect on the past three weeks since we unveiled our demo to you folks.
A massive thank you!
First of all, we just gotta take a minute to say the biggest and heartiest thank you to all y'all who've been playin' our demo! The love and support we've received have been sweeter than an apple pie, and we're more grateful than a farmer in a rainstorm.

What really warmed our hearts was the down-home connections we made with y'all. To see so many exofarmers all over the world share screenshots of their creations, videos of them playing the demo (or breaking it, for that matter) and jumping into our Discord to chat with us has surpassed our wildest dreams.

So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you! This journey wouldn't be half as sweet without each and every one of you folks.
Some good ol’ stats
To round up the Steam Next fest shindig, we’ve gathered up some highlights that'd make any exofarmer tip their hat.
Fixin' to Smooth Out the Wrinkles
Your feedback on the Lightyear Frontier demo is like the wind in our sails – pushin' us forward and guiding us towards the best version of Lightyear Frontier. Some of you had a hankerin' for some fixins, and we heard y'all loud and clear. Here are some fixes and improvements headin' your way post-launch.

  • Crafting from storage
Being able to craft using resources from storage is currently one of our most requested features since the demo launched. We want players to be able to do some kind of storage management but avoid being too much in the menus.
  • Rebindable controls
Several players requested to be able to rebind the game's controls to suit their playstyle. Having rebindable controls will make the game more accessible to more players and allow them to tailor the game to their needs.
  • Quick switch seed ammo
One of the most common issues reported in the Steam demo feedback was that many players did not understand how to switch their ammo, especially in the Seed Shooter, which negatively impacted their gameplay.
  • Some constructs facing the wrong way
Several Constructs are not facing forward right now, and this caused problems for many players. In the case of the Oil Presser, several players had trouble finding their Oils because the Oil Presser is facing backwards
Wranglin' It All In
The trail ain't gone cold, folks. The demo is still available if you haven’t had a chance to play yet. Also, make sure you pop into our Discord for some fun activities comin soon and as always, keep an eye on the Steam prairie for future updates comin your way. With all this momentum, we absolutely can't wait to show y'all what we've been cookin' up for launch!

Lightyear Frontier makes mechs cozy with its low-stress approach to alien planet environmentalism

I'd made up my mind about loving the alien planet cozy mech homesteading game Lightyear Frontier as soon as I saw its first trailer. After playing the demo in this week's Steam Next Fest, and talking to Frame Break's CEO Joakim Kopriva Hedström, I've not changed my mind. But it turns out that it isn't the weeks-stealing farm sim obsession I'd expected. Instead, I found a well-oiled and approachable open world to-do list that may appeal to job simulator players much as to my usual farmcrafting friends...
