First Game Update - Bug Fixes!

Hi everyone -

First off, I’m so grateful and excited to welcome so many new players to Summoners Fate. I’m overjoyed by the positive reviews you’ve written already, and I hope to do my best to win over the couple negative ones by addressing your concerns as quickly as possible. Your feedback is invaluable in supporting us take the game to the next level, so please keep this up. Truly, thank you!

I also appreciate your bug reports and giving me the chance to fix these for you. I’ve personally read everyone’s feedback, and I’m planning another game update for Monday with some new content and QoL fixes you’ve recommended. For today, I wanted to address the most urgent issues.

[h2]Here’s the changes:[/h2]

  • Fixed bug where the game threw exception during battles where the player or AI used knockback abilities (most commonly occurred with Battle Mage or when using Gust of Wind). This was a tricky bug to solve, but was responsible for the majority of the reported issues so far. Effectively, what happened was the AI was measuring the trajectory of the knockback differently than player (the player space has awareness of the entire world grid, while the AI only knows about the current battlefield) and that little bit of difference made the math round differently, and so the AI would think it’s characters had been pushed to a different space than the player. We call this a "desync error" because each player sees a different game state.
  • Fixed bug where the AI would throw an exception for attempting to simulate summoning creatures after the player had died during its turn (another "desync error").
  • Fixed bug that threw exception "Error: Target id cannot be 0" when either opening the map or moving your character while entering or exiting a shop.


Our next most pressing issue is to resolve the "Game Won’t Run on M1 Macs" - and we have a dedicated support thread for it with progress updates and workaround solutions here.

Introducing Summoners Fate - Tabletop Inspired Roguelike!


Greetings Steam players!

In our Next Fest debut of Summoners Fate, we're bringing the tabletop fantasy world to life with an epic fusion of turn-based tactics and strategic deckbuilding.


Are you ready to hurl squirrels at the Liche King? I mean, how else does one defeat a life stealing undead overlord?

[h2]Summoners Fate Demo[/h2]
We're kicking things off with a killer demo, new and improved for the Next Fest. Here's what to expect:
  • Claim the staff of squirrel hurling, rain firey death upon menacing goblins, and rescue a cosmic tortoise (and that's just the tutorial).
  • Play the first chapter of adventure mode with the Druid where you must dungeon crawl into the chambers of the dreaded Liche King and face his heinous undead horde.
  • Unlock the Battle Mage and return to the dungeons in advanced and hardcore modes with all new tactics and cards to try.
  • NEW for Next Fest on June 13: Demo our progression system and check out all of the 300+ cards and 84 achievements you can unlock in the full game. You'll be able to unlock cards associated with the two playable characters in the demo and your progress will carry over into the full game (available June 20th, right after Next Fest ends).
  • NEW for Next Fest on June 13: Customize your Summoner's starting deck with cards you've unlocked from previous runs.
  • NEW for Next Fest on June 13: Demo Battle mode. Choose from either the Squirrel Hurlers or Hard Knocks All-star teams (once you've unlocked them) and even customize your own deck from the cards and characters you've unlocked through adventures and battle against the AI's teams in gratifying 5-7 minute battles.

[h2]Developer Live Stream Let's Play + Q&A[/h2]
Throughout the Next Fest, we'll also be broadcasting footage of the Early Access build so you can get a peak at the exciting content in store for you at the end of the week when our game launches on June 20th.

We'll also be hosting 2 Live Q&A sessions during our scheduled broadcast times via the chat channel, which you can access here.

The first will start Tuesday 6AM PT / 2PM BST and run 4 hours until 10AM PT / 6PM BST.
