Railroader 2024.3.0 Released!

Railroader 2024.3.0 brings new engines & customers, plus revamped coal & water consumption, updated vegetation, performance improvements, a new Engine Roster window to keep tabs on your power, and a whole lot more!

  • Atlantic Locomotive Works is now offering three new steam locomotives: T-22, A-23, and F-71!
  • C-55 and old wooden caboose models updated! Old wooden caboose is now colorable.
  • Revamped tree/grass/plant rendering! River and roadbed edges are more natural now, too.
  • Added customers at Nantahala, Hewitt, and Wesser.
  • Revamped water and coal consumption: usage is significantly lower and is governed by reverser and throttle position. Tractive effort is not affected. (RR-367)
  • Added Engine Roster window (open with `R`) to ease switching between power.
  • Performance enhancements relating to car movement.
  • AI now warns when handbrakes are on or brake line is open when starting movement. (RR-297)
  • Compass display at top of screen is now much more accurate and tracks directly with camera rotation.
  • Added percentage graphic to tooltips for equipment loads and fuel loaders.
  • Added time to console messages.
  • Added Shift-Click on engine in map view to select.
  • Added "Add from train" button to Switch List.
  • Added `/repair` command to repair selected train (host, sandbox only).
  • Updated car tag colors to be more evenly distributed across the railroad.
  • Adjusted default Post Exposure & Contrast, customizable in the Preferences window.
  • Fixed Ela trestle abutments. (RR-318)
  • Fixed overhead camera snapping to directly above car. (RR-348)
  • Fixed AI reading 25mph speed limit near Bryson East and Whittier Wye. (RR-350)
  • Fixed AI not keeping current speed when enabling road mode while moving in reverse.
  • Fixed car tag overlay rendering behind water sometimes. (RR-353)
  • Fixed higher tree density causing trees to appear in places they shouldn't be.
  • Fixed engines consuming coal when there's no water and vice-versa. (RR-361)
  • Fixed mines loading too many cars when waiting/sleeping.
  • Fixed signal lenses appearing impossibly dark in fog.
  • Made water hatches more lenient in positioning below water columns and towers. (RR-257)

Railroader 2024.2.5

  • Customers now receive a more appropriate number of empties for interchange services beyond the daily one.
  • Changed Graham County Pulpwood to a high volume pulpwood source, similar to Connelly and Walker. This means it now loads incrementally rather than with interchange service. This is a temporary measure; we plan to revise the Graham County interchange in the future.
  • Fixed jumping singleplayer player (or multiplayer host) to spawn when loading a game saved while ridiing on equipment. (RR-342)
  • Fixed Robinson Gap and Alarka mines not filling as many cars as they should while waiting or sleeping. (RR-345)
  • Fixed Bryson Freight Hours track FR1 appearing multiple times in locations panel. (RR-164)
  • Trainmaster and up can now use the `/fill` and `/setload` commands in sandbox.

Railroader 2024.2.4

  • Limited manual car mover (Shift-R) to 3mph and 5m away. (RR-339)
  • Fixed cases where low throttle setting could result in no fuel/water consumption. (RR-186)
  • Fixed AI engineer failing to release independent brakes in MU configuration. (RR-341)
  • Added workaround for sandbox games failing to properly restore map feature selections due to having been opened in company mode in the past. (RR-340)

  • Added milestone upgrade water columns at Alarka Jct and Almond.
  • Added lights at East Whittier.
  • Independent brake is now linked across engines when MU is enabled. Main reservoirs are also linked.
  • Fixed interchange served at top of hour, not at exact scheduled time. (RR-336)
  • Fixed animations not playing on newly purchased milestone elements. (RR-317 cont'd)
  • Fixed client unable to join when the equipment they had been riding has been deleted. (RR-337)
  • Fixed AI not proceeding once stop signal changes to approach at interlockings where the next signal is > 2km away. (RR-338)

Railroader 2024.2.2 is now available!

  • Re-graded Alarka Jct through Cochran tunnel.
  • Railroader will now prompt to re-place trains with invalid locations (such as from map changes) when loading a game.
  • Reverted headlight control scheme to original: Front Full - Front Dim - Off - Rear Dim - Rear Full.
  • AI will now call approach, stop, and restricting signals at interlockings. This can be disabled in company settings.
  • Interchanges: Removed limit on per-service number of cuts. Changed capacity limit to 70%.
  • Additional interchange service can now be scheduled for those of you with particularly busy railroads. Automatic return visits for full interchanges use the same system. The service interval is 2:30. You can schedule interchange service in the Locations panel, as well as see when the next service will be.
  • Re-added "Limit to 60fps" option to Vsync dropdown (Graphics Preferences).
  • Fixed signals showing incorrect aspects for clients after purchase. (RR-325)
  • Fixed coal loaders not operating immediately after purchase. (RR-315)
  • Improved diesel "quill" when signaling for crossings. (RR-317)
  • Manual car move (Shift-R) is much stronger now.
