Much-loved board game Dune: Imperium has a digital version now, and it's getting rave responses

Back in 2020 Dune: Imperium surprised people as a compelling, interesting, and downright tough strategy board game that adapted the world of Frank Herbert's Dune novels to the board game format. It has since risen into the top 10 all-time board games on industry bellwether BoardGameGeek...

The Golden Path – Dune: Imperium Digital Roadmap

With tomorrow’s release of Dune: Imperium Digital, we’re looking ahead towards visions of the future. Here’s some of what we’re working on in the coming months:

Rise of Ix

In 2022, Rise of Ix, the fist expansion for Dune: Imperium, won both the Golden Geek Award and Dice Tower Award for Best Board Game Expansion. With new leaders, new cards, fearsome dreadnoughts in the skies above and the technological innovations of the planet Ix reshaping the conflict on Arrakis below, Rise of Ix tests your strategic abilities like never before.

Development on Rise of Ix is already well underway, and we’re anticipating its arrival this summer.

Player Profiles & Ranked Play

We’ve heard from players with a mentat-like capacity for tracking and analyzing their games. So we’re developing player Profiles to help show how you stack up against the competition, and better track your progress as a whole.

We’re also working towards implementing Ranked play options, as well as a karma system to improve match quality for casual games by prioritizing pairing players who finish games rather than quitting.

Together, these systems will give you more control over how you play Dune: Imperium Digital, and more ways to see your growth as a player.

Events & Organized Play

After two successful test events during Early Access, the core structure of the in-game events system is in a pretty good place, but there’s a lot more in store. We’re working towards expanded offerings that include new event structures and logic, qualifier & invitational events, prizes, and a broader structure of organized, competitive play.

There are a lot of moving pieces to putting together a satisfying, competitive experience, and we’re listening to players and learning from both on- and off-line events from around the world to help figure out what the road ahead here will look like.

We’ll continue to offer one-off events as the systems take shape, and will have more announcements about the future of competitive play in the coming months.

So there’s lots more in the works for Dune: Imperium Digital! For now, though, we’re looking forward to tomorrow’s release and welcoming new players into our growing community.

Thank you so much to those of you who have been with us from the beginning – you help us keep the spice flowing.
