Chronicles of Rodovia #3 - Heroes: Warrior and Berserker โš”๏ธ

Greetings, your Grace! ๐Ÿ‘‘

Welcome to the Chronicles of Rodovia - a series designed to prepare you for ascension to the throne! ๐Ÿ“– Thanks to the following entries, you will learn how to manage your kingdom and your subjects, make crucial, even fateful decisions, and safeguard your reign from premature demise. In each subsequent post, we will take a closer look at a different gameplay element and explain the basic mechanics that govern the world of Crown of Greed, so be sure to follow them carefully.

And now... let us tell you more about the two first hero archetypes - Warrior and Berserker โœŠ
The heroes await your orders... if you are generous enough

As you probably already know, in Crown of Greed you will have the opportunity to utilize a rather unique, indirect commanding system. If you, as a King, want to bend someone to your will (in this case the proud heroes) you must first offer them something in return. Fortunately, adventurers aren't too picky in this area and will always settle for a purse full of shiny coins ๐Ÿ’ฐ

(Work in Progress)

For those who joined us only today - you can learn more about the general commanding system in the Chronicles of Rodovia Part #1 ยป

But before we spend our hard-earned gold from our royal treasury, we must first decide which heroes best suit our needs. We must remember, that each hero class is quite different and is best for different types of tasks. Having that in mind, today we will take a closer look at two of them: Warrior and Berserker โš”๏ธ Let's see how their extraordinary skills and bravery can benefit our kingdom!
Warrior - the defender of the realm ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Although warriors are one of the most common hero classes in the world of Rodovia, it does not mean that they are ordinary or trivial. Warriors are typically regarded as the elite unit of an army, embodying qualities of strength, honor and loyalty โœŠ Their presence on the battlefield can boost the morale of your troops, as Warriors are often ready to sacrifice their lives to defend their kingdom and rulers.

(Work in Progress)

Heroes of this class are famous for their exceptional defensive skills. They are able to take powerful hits and blows that would simply crush most other fighters ๐Ÿ˜ต Their equipment consists of heavy armor, a sword and a shield, which increase their strength and resilience even further. With the experience and wealth gained from the missions you assign them, Warriors, like all other hero classes, will evolve and improve. You can see an example of such a development path in the illustration above - the more battle-hardened and wealthier your fighters are, the better equipped and trained they become. Remember to take good care of your best Warriors - losing them can be really painful!

It should come as no surprise that the Warriors prefer defensive missions. They are known as good team players and are always happy to support other heroes, but they perform rather poorly in quests that require map exploration and long journeys. Keep this in mind when you decide to ask them for their help.

Consider Warriors as valiant protectors of your domains, unafraid to position themselves at the forefront and absorb the first enemy strike. They will be a perfect choice for both melee combat and in clashes with ranged units ๐Ÿน which they will reach under the protection of their shields and heavy armor. Whenever you feel that your kingdom is in danger, you can confidently trust these fearless, extremely brave heroes.
Berserker - the destructive force for hire ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿช“

These fierce fighters are often the last sight of their enemies. Their hallmarks are huge two-handed axes, capable of piercing even the hardest armor or knocking down an enemy many times larger than the Berserker himself ๐Ÿ’€ From their earliest years, they have been trained in the art of combat and survival, thanks to which their skills have become legendary... and highly desired by rulers who want to have them in their service.

(Work in Progress)

Berserkers possess unparalleled physical strength, which stands as their greatest advantage. Every muscle in their body is trained to perfection, and their every instinct is subordinated to survival and fighting. That's why they prefer to fight in close quarters - only then can they make full use of their gigantic, fabled axes ๐Ÿ’ช

Unlike Warriors, Berserkers will happily welcome news of a new attack-based mission. For a right price (and you must know that these brave fighters are known for their love of coins) they will march to the distant corners of your kingdom and wreak havoc among your enemies. You, as their leader, can be sure that they will do their best to maintain their glorious reputation. But between greed, fame and courage, there is also another feature often mentioned among their traits...

(Work in Progress)

Berserkers possess a deep-seated hatred towards green-skins ๐Ÿคฌ and when they spot one, they will do everything in their power to chop them with their powerful axes. Green-skins are the natural enemies of this proud people, and they share a centuries-long history of feuds, wars and insults. Woe to anyone who stands in the way of the enraged Berserker.

Their only weakness seems to be the dark magic that brings the undead hordes back to life. This is the only type of opponent they are not happy to face.

Chronicles of Rodovia #2 - Biomes of your Kingdom ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

Greetings, your Grace! ๐Ÿ‘‘

Welcome to the Chronicles of Rodovia - a series designed to prepare you for ascension to the throne! ๐Ÿ“– Thanks to the following entries, you will learn how to manage your kingdom and your subjects, make crucial, even fateful decisions, and safeguard your reign from premature demise. In each subsequent post, we will take a closer look at a different gameplay element and explain the basic mechanics that govern the world of Crown of Greed, so be sure to follow them carefully.

And now... let us tell you more about the lands surrounding your kingdom! ๐Ÿงญ
Varied biomes are waiting to be discovered

One of the first things you will do as the rightful ruler of Rodovia will be to survey all the areas around your castle. After all, wise rulers need to be well-informed about the domains within their empire's reach... especially when they can be so diverse and full of secrets. That's why today we will send our scouts to distant borders and with their help we will discover what is hidden in each biome we encounter ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿฆด Off we go!

Work in Progress
Forests and meadows ๐ŸŒณ

Probably the most common areas you will have to manage. You can easily find them both around your castle and in more distant areas of the given map. Even though this environment seems quite friendly and calm, don't let it dull your vigilance! ๐ŸŒฟ Among the plains of this biome, you may meet many deadly enemies, such as wolves and other dangerous wildlife lurking in the deep, mossy caves. Some of the travelers claim to have encountered werewolves, though verifying the authenticity of these stories poses a challenge.
Deathlands ๐Ÿ’€

The cursed lands of the undead can make even the greatest heroes shiver. Whitened, barren land, twisted, tormented trees, and abandoned strongholds are just some of their horrors. The dark magic that haunts this biome prevents its deceased inhabitants from resting in peace, turning them into ruthless undead warriors โ˜ ๏ธ If you spot forgotten towers, ruined castles, or other terrifying structures, you can almost be sure that they are swarming with undead archers, warriors, or other strange, deadly dangerous units.

Work in Progress
Swamps ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

The swamps are as difficult to traverse as they are dangerous. Far too many daredevils and heroes met their end there, and now their bones are whitening in the mud and puddles ๐Ÿฆด While sending your men into this treacherous biome, beware of the Devils Den. These dark and menacing caverns are home to gigantic, dreadful Devils. Only those with exceptional bravery and expertise would even contemplate facing this huge creature wielding a murderous weapon the size of a grown man. And this is merely the beginning... who can say what other secrets lurk within the murky swamplands?
Death Marches ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

While at first glance similar to the Swamps mentioned above, Death Marches actually have their own unique features. The first and most important of them is that while traveling through these depressing areas, you are likely to encounter undead hordes โš”๏ธ These lifeless warriors are just waiting to slaughter every living creature and incorporate its bones into their ghastly army. Very few adventurers manage to cross them safely, which is why our knowledge about them is still quite limited.
Icelands โ„๏ธ

A gust of wind carrying ice crystals and swirling snow is the perfect environment for an ambush. This is a common tactic among white werewolves ๐Ÿบ who thrive in this frosty environment. It's said that with one powerful sweep of their clawed paw, they can strip a warrior of their armor and bring a sudden end to their adventurous career. Their blood, at least the part that has not been drunk, is clearly visible on the white snow... Let's hope that the heroes under your command who will traverse the Ice Lands will have better luck.

Chronicles of Rodovia #1 - Indirect Heroes Command System ๐Ÿ“œ

Greetings, your Grace! ๐Ÿ‘‘

Welcome to the Chronicles of Rodovia - a series designed to prepare you for ascension to the throne! ๐Ÿ“– Thanks to the following entries, you will learn how to manage your kingdom and your subjects, make crucial, even fateful decisions, and safeguard your reign from premature demise. In each subsequent post, we will take a closer look at a different gameplay element and explain the basic mechanics that govern the world of Crown of Greed, so be sure to follow them carefully, aight?

And now... your adventure is about to begin. It's time to get straight to the point!

Work in Progress
Crown of Greed and its most important feature

If you are already familiar with the Crown of Greed project, you probably know that it is... quite different from most of the games of its genre. We are sure you will agree that the vast majority of strategy games are based on selecting specific units and giving them direct commands ๐Ÿ‘‰ such as repairing your structures, attacking, building or collecting resources.

In the case of our game, however, the situation is totally different. Instead of having direct control over units, players participate in the life of their kingdom as if they were a part of it, rather than an all-powerful, controlling entity. And so, you can't simply select your units, oh no. What you will get is an array of management features and options, that MAY ๐Ÿ‘€ bend the independent inhabitants of the Land of Rodovia to your will.... or not!
Heroes are waiting to be hired

The player's heroes live their own lives, making choices depending on the archetype. Some of them, for example, eagerly anticipate the upcoming battles, showing a greater inclination toward assignments focused on dismantling enemy units โš”๏ธ Meanwhile, those with a curiosity about the world and a traveler's spirit are more likely to choose reconnaissance missions. Remember, that in order to manage your heroes well, you must first get to know them and understand their strengths.

Work in Progress

Which heroes decide to visit your city is based on your choices. Will you offer them access to a forge and thus better items? To an inn, where they can rest? Or to a marketplace where they can buy a variety of useful goods? How you direct the development of your kingdom will define which heroes will offer you their services... and how they will develop. This is important because both you and the heroes want them to be as powerful as possible - a real win-win situation! The death of such an experienced, well-equipped hero is a great loss! ๐Ÿ’€
Your first Contracts

Once you get to know your heroes and plan their path of development, it's time to send them for their first quests! You can assign them such quests using so called Contracts. While there are numerous varied missions and orders you can offer to your daring adventurers, we'll take exploring the undead-infested ruins as an example.

When you locate an undead lair, you can assign one of the available heroes to go there and... do what heroes do ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿฆด To persuade the hero to cooperate, you must create a Contract and then offer the adventurer appropriate remuneration. Fortunately, they exhibit a strong desire for gold. With this in mind, flag your target and then set a fee that you are willing to pay to the hero who will take up the challenge (naturally, the higher the reward, the greater the chance that a more powerful hero will take on the task). While completing missions, adventurers gain experience points and gold. They can then spend it in your city, which keeps cash in constant circulation!

Work in Progress
Support your heroes

When a hero goes on a mission, you don't have to stay idle and just wait for the outcome. As a powerful ruler, you can support them, for example, with powerful spells. Moreover, if one of them has become your favorite and has served your kingdom well, in some cases you will even be able to bring them back to life if they fall in a fierce battle ๐Ÿค•

The decisions you make, and wise quest planning, are crucial for your heroes to be effective and more and more powerful. You have to remember, that the Berserker archetype is much better at missions that involve attacking, while the Paladin archetype prefers defending your city from harm. The Rogue will be perfect for eliminating important, but less durable targets, and the Hunter will gladly scout the surroundings of your castle. We are sure you get the idea!

Welcome to the Crown of Greed - the unique RTS game with indirect control

Greetings, your Grace! ๐Ÿ‘‘

While the king's leadership and management skills play a key role in the kingdom's prosperity, its survival remains threatened without the assistance of its Heroes. Unfortunately, as many rulers have found out the hard way, these Heroes, despite their glorious qualities, can also prove to be... rather capricious or driven by lust for gold!

Will you be able to bend your subjects to your will and oversee their actions? Will you ensure the well-being and safety of the realm? And finally, will you be able to reach an agreement with the mighty, independent Heroes?

Welcome to โ€œCrown of Greedโ€ - an unusual RTS game featuring unparalleled and distinctive management and command systems! However, let us start from the very beginningโ€ฆ
Free will and a deep AI system as the gameplay driving force ๐Ÿง

Your tale takes shape in the magical, Slavic-inspired realm of Rodovia, currently tormented by the enigmatic, incredibly intelligent and hellishly sinister dragon. Harnessing the power of dark magic that embraced the nearby barrows, forests, and long-forgotten tombs, life was breathed anew into a myriad of horrifying creatures. Naturally, no ruler can permit their land to be plagued by legions of undead, werewolves, vampires, or giant spiders, and the responsibility to shield your people from inevitable doom falls upon youโ€ฆ and Heroes of the realm.

And so, letโ€™s start with one of the most unique features of the โ€œCrown of Greedโ€ project. Other games of this genre allow you to simply select specific units and issue commands with a few clicks of your mouse. And what if... NPCs had their own free will and extensive AI systems? What if you can't order them to do something, but you have to convince or even bribe them to do it?

Due to the optimal balance of authority and the significant independence exhibited by all NPCs, you'll experience the genuine role of a ruler facing real difficulties and engaging challenges. Once you begin one of the selected missions (enhanced with additional procedurally generated elements) and explore the possibilities offered by your main, most important building - the Castle - you will be ready to give your first commands.
Heroes and Contracts ๐Ÿ“œ

Heroes, an essential element in achieving goals, can be for example induced to perform their tasks through so called Contracts. However, it is not always as simple as it may seem at first glance. Only an appropriate amount of gold or resources can convince them that it is worth taking the risk of executing such a Contract and putting their lives on the line. Therefore, one of the key skills that you will have to master will be good recognition of their needs - only then will you be able to offer them a deal they will agree to and keep your treasury relatively intact. Make no mistake, Heroes hold a deep fondness for gold, and we will delve into how they make use of it down below.
Subjects and the Castle ๐Ÿฐ

However, powerful Heroes are not your only means of achieving your goals. Your loyal Subjects, who are also endowed with advanced AI, await your Orders. Such Orders are used to issue tasks to all the player's direct Subjects, who do not require Orders. And so, they will carry out the Orders you approve in the special settlement management system. Being more specific, you can decide on how to collect taxes, prioritize the repair of damaged buildings, guard certain areas by your troops, or issue many, many other commands.

As mentioned above, the center of your rule will be the Castle. The Castle panel can be used to manage your lands, construct new buildings, issue Orders and Contracts or conduct numerous research. Moreover, structures are categorized into those you can construct manually and those that are spontaneously erected by your subjects. Buildings that are built by your people, such as farms, bakeries, mills, and agricultural fields are the main sources of coin (via taxes) which then go to the treasury. The higher the tier of your Castle, the more new management options you will unlock!
The Magic System โšก

The most active manifestation of your will as a King is Magic. Using specially selected spells, you can influence the very fate of your realm. They can for example directly hurt or weaken your enemies, support Heroes during their missions, or even have a positive effect on the buildings under your control! The Magic system, if properly used, can change the course of events and save your dominion and Subjects from any harm.

The in-game world and its characteristics ๐Ÿง

With a grasp of the fundamental mechanics that make โ€œCrown of Greedโ€ unique among other games of this genre, itโ€™s time for a more lore-based, immersive look. As you already know, after starting a new single-player campaign, you are introduced to the current situation of the kingdom that you inherited as your father's only heir. Now the realm has fallen victim to the attack of the malicious and cunning dragon and his dark magic.

Using a dedicated campaign map, you will have to choose one of the available missions, each with its own regions and objectives. At this point, it is worth mentioning that each of them is characterized by high replayability through procedurally generated random elements and the option to increase the difficulty level, and thus unlock special badges or increase your high score.

After choosing a mission, your trusted advisor will familiarize you with its goals and tell you what problems plague the selected area. With only your Castle, a handful of subjects and a few basic buildings at your disposal, you will have to expand your settlement and complete the mission objectives. Moreover, some of the missions have their own unique conditions and limitations that force you to try new, different strategies and development directions.

Soon after, brave Heroes will appear at your gates, looking for an opportunity to gain fame and glory. How they spend the gold they earn from Contracts is entirely up to them... although as the king, you can influence their decisions. If you remain idle, they will probably drink away their money at a nearby inn or empty their pouches playing dice. On the other hand, there are ways to maximize their utility by providing them with an opportunity to evolve.

If you give your Heroes access to appropriate buildings or the means to grow, they will spend their coin on upgrading their equipment, training, or improving their combat abilities! But thereโ€™s more. Thanks to your Contracts, Heroes can explore nearby forests, hills and misty swamps in search of powerful artifacts and items that will further enhance their power. It would be a great loss to lose such a great Hero (which can happen quite often!), so remember to always properly estimate Contracts for their power level and capabilities.

Demonstrating proficiency in command, strategic orders, planning, and settlement development may empower you to safeguard the land and its people from impending destruction. Thanks to a beautifully recreated map and diverse missions, you will visit various corners of your kingdom, each with its own characteristics and problems.

We hope that in addition to the unique gameplay, the game will charm you with its attractive, dark graphics and intriguing score. That being said, we can't wait to witness your confrontation with horrifying monsters intent on wiping your empire from the face of the earth. We're eager to see how you handle the management of unpredictable Heroes, Subjects, and other free will endowed NPCs. And finally, we look forward to seeing how you will cope with expanding your cities and whether you can thwart the sinister plans of the deadly dangerous dragon.
Thank you, Rulers!
