Demo Challenges! Get a surprise reward

Dealers, enjoying the demo so far?

Good, because we have a challenge for ya! Two challenges, in fact.
Screenshot Contest
Fancy yourself a digital photographer? Well, now you have a chance to prove it!

We have three categories you can post screenshots for:
 • Nature Shot;
 • Meme;
 • Dealer’s Life.

Get playing, run around and document your game! Join our Discord server, and in the 『📸』demo-screenshots channel post your screenshots with the name of the category. You can post however many you want!
Longest Gameplay Contest
Pretty self explanatory, ain’t it? When the demo time is over, send us screenshots of your playtime as shown in Steam to the 『🎤』demo-general channel. Remember to start your message with “Longest Gameplay Contest” so we can find you!

The one person with the longest gameplay will be rewarded!

We will look at submissions up until the demo is taken down, and will announce the winners on Jan 8.

So, what are the rewards? It’s a secret for now 👀

Get playin’, Dealers!

DevLog: What in the name of crime…? + DEMO IS OUT

Dealers, before we get to the devlog… The DEMO is OUT!!!

Or will be, in less than an hour, at 3 PM CET.

Time to play your hearts out! The demo is free and now available to everyone starting today. BUT, you can only play until January 2, so don’t waste time!

There’s also a challenge here, too! Find one of the statues of the Holy Mary and win the full game! There are 10 statues of Holy Mary hidden throughout the demo map – the first person to find each one will get a key to the full version of the game, when it is released. So, if you are the first person to find a Mary in the tree, you get a key. The next person will have to find a different Mary to get a key.
(P.S. The Community Challenge has ended)

Join our Discord server and in the #main-ghetto chat post a message “I found a Mary!” with a screenshot. First come first served!

PS. There is no Mary in the tree. But there are around.

Should you have any problems, here is a Demo Guide courtesy of Pizza InTheHood. Thanks, man!

And now on to the world of crime!

So, as in-game dealers, we’re criminals. We know that. But what else can we do besides dealing drugs? Well, we can try our hand at burglary. Depending on where we want to break into (someone’s home, warehouse or car), you’ll need a lockpick or a crowbar, which you can buy in a shop.

During break-ins, you can find many valuable items you can use… but there is a catch – breaking into someone’s property costs you your reputation. So the question is, is it worth it?

BREAKING NEWS: we decidedly do not endorse breaking into your neighbours’ houses. Or cars. Or anywhere, for that matter.

However, you’re not the only criminal in the game. While exploring and walking around Isla Sombra, you will meet thugs whose singular purpose is to rob you of your hard-earned living. If you see them, you can try sneaking around them but if they see you, your only option for avoiding the confrontation is to run as fast as you can.

If you’re not fast enough and they catch up to you, you have two options. You can either beg their mercy, which costs you your reputation (again), or you can just give them your money without a fight.

Of course, there is a way to hide your money from the thugs. Read more in the devlog about clothes!

So. You ready for some FUN?

DevLog: Gather your party and venture forth! Or something to that effect

So what about that coop?

As you’ve undoubtedly heard (and if you didn’t, where the hell have you been hiding?!), DDS2 has a cooperation mode that allows you to play in 2- or 3-person groups.

If you tick the “allow joining” box while starting your session, players can join at any time during your game. While playing together, you can share tasks and responsibilities, and you can also officially assign clients to each player. If you can afford to buy a boat or a car, you can all travel together around the map. Or you can say “I take this part, you take that one” and make quick work of all the quests!

While we’re sure you’re gonna use Discord or something similar while playing, there is also a chat in-game that allows you to communicate with your friends in the session. Gotta make sure the dope gets delivered, right?

Ah, and remember that handy space we talked about in the previous devlog? Well, it’s a shared space for all the players in a session that can be accessed by everyone at the same time. No more waiting for your mate to finish browsing through, just get that money out and go buy some clothes! Or something like that.

Honestly, we can't wait to see what you and your buddies will get yourself into in the game!

DevLog: How about the clothes?

Dealer, as a true businessperson, you need to make yourself presentable. So, what do you dress in, you ask? Well, let’s see!

First of all, you gotta customise your character! And yes, you can already do that in the demo. You can change your shoes, pants, tops, hats, backpacks and jewellery. And they’re not just a decoration: your clothes do impact your stats.

What stats get impacted by your great looks?
 • Agility – impacts your overall mobility and performance of parkour;
 • Visibility – impacts your visibility to others;
 • Comfort – impacts the duration of status effects, both positive and negative;
 • SWAG – helps in your negotiations and gaining more respect;
 • SUS – affects how suspicious you look.

Some items of clothing can also add more storage slots and quickslots. And some clothes also add secret slots, which are handy when you get accosted by bandits trying to steal your stuff. All the items stashed in the secret slots are less likely to be discovered and taken away from you.

To buy new clothes simply visit the clothes shop. To change, interact with a wardrobe in your hideout or with the changing room in the shop.

What look will you be going for?

DevLog: So what’s the hideout?

Dealers, time to look into one of the most important aspects of being a businessperson: your headquarters!

And in this case, hideouts.

You start your adventure with one hideout, your trusty bunker you wake up in. As you progress through the story, you unlock the option to buy more locations. Obviously, you’re not buying a pig in a poke – before deciding to spend your hard-earned money you can get inside the prospective hideout and take a good look around.

And take a good look around you should, as the place’s size and location is not the only thing that matters. Some hideouts will have running water which allows you to grow cannabis there without having to run to the nearest shop to buy some. Some hideouts will have phone cables you can use to set up a telephone and gain the ability to listen to recorded messages. It’s a very important decision you gotta make there!

As any good businessperson, you will want your headquarters to look their best. And be functional, duh. You can furnish your hideout however you like. If you invest in a bed, you can sleep in it to skip the time at night. And if you place the correct types of furniture, you can increase your handy space.

What is the handy space?
It’s a storage of a kind. But it gets better – handy space is available everywhere in your hideout. You don’t need to interact with a specific box to get things out. Just open your inventory when in the hideout and you can move things from the handy space and into your own inventory. Neat!

Another important feature of your hideout is substance storage. You can upgrade that storage to hold more varieties of substances by placing additional containers.

And there is also the very real-life matter of bills and waste! You make produce – you produce waste along with it. It’s gonna take the valuable space in your hideout so you will need to get rid of it. No littering and polluting the environment tho! We’re eco. Pay for the fee and professionals are gonna remove the trash for ya. And, of course, as you use water and electricity, you gonna pay your bills. If you don’t, you’re gonna lose your reputation very quick.

So, are you ready for furniture shopping?
