BigA$$ Update is live!

Hey folks, the time is now! Thanks for your patience, we’re thrilled to share with you the new update. It’s big and significant - as its name suggests. Many of the issues we dealt with were crucial in the context of the entire game and took us a considerable amount of time.

Additionally, we’ve added new content, including language versions and a whole new island with a purchasable mansion!

We hope that your experience will be better and more satisfying. As always, share your feedback!

[h2]Patch Notes[/h2]

Bugfixes:
  • Fixed a crash related to the audio cache system that occurred while traveling the map, especially long distances on boats. Optimized and improved environment audio systems for fewer issues, improved RAM usage and CPU performance
  • Fixed a crash (fatal error) that could sometimes occur during crafting, especially after updates and/or installing mods
  • Fixed issues related to Luca and coke lab quest, fixed issue with blocked lab finding task. The fix is retroactive
  • Fixed an issue where you could not obtain door or window upgrades remotely via the furniture mode, added the ability to do that
  • Added a temporary fix for the interaction with the priest where he could be locked in some circumstances
  • Blocked the ability to drop drug items (blunts, cookies etc.) to dealers. This was not intended, dealers with special clients assigned will produce the items themselves from the provided dope
  • Fixed a bug with the displayed cost prediction for waste removal in the hideout management screen
  • Fixed a bug where the “Dresser” could not be stored or moved
  • Fixed a bug where it was possible to buy a crowbar from Tom the Tech infinitely
  • Fixed a bug where a placed door lock on a door appears in the wrong place
  • Fixed a bug where some boats have the incorrect tank size in the description
  • Fixed a bug where it was impossible to sell some necklace
  • Fixed a dealer spot where the dealer is standing partly under the ground
Game improvements:
  • Improved parkour and parkour animation for the player character, introduced new smoother and more natural feel and added some technical improvements
  • Reduced the amounts of items that are needed to be gathered in the endgame shipping container quest
  • Reduced fall damage for both player HP as well as for shoes and clothing, reduced the increase of fall damage due to inventory weight
  • Introduced new 3D models for special equipment (boss' desk, distributor desk, DIY table, Lab Tech station, Chemistry station)
  • Improved lighting (visually as well as performance-wise) for all hideout custom light sources (lamps etc.)
  • Added a visual indicator for enemy aggro level on the player HUD
  • Improved issues with the enviro sense, added more objects to the detection
  • Added regular inventory slots to the wardrobes so you can also use them as item storage
  • Improvements to NPC population and life in a couple of endgame and late game locations
  • Added markers of routes of ferry on the map
New content:
  • New drug (psychedelic shrooms) as well as a new drug form (hashish)
  • New purchasable private island with a villa on it as luxurious content
  • Many new furniture items and decorations available in furniture shops
  • New language versions (Czech, Slovak, Romanian, Hungarian)
Note: While troubleshooting crashes, we noticed that crashes for people with 13th and 14th gen Intel may be caused by a factory problem with these processors (read more here). This problem can be solved with a BIOS update. Still, we keep investigating any problems you report. If you are reporting a crash, remember to add information about your PC specs, the circumstances when the crash occurred, and the place in the game where it happened.

“A lot more content and improvements are in the works, but did not make it into this update, as we wanted these improvements to land faster so you don't have to wait. The next update will feature many additional QoL improvements, fixes and new features and content that is currently still worked on. Have fun and stay tuned!”

New Update releases on Friday, September 6

Hello everyone,

New update will be released on Friday, September 6.

Due to the importance of this update, we decided to allow for more testing time to make sure all the implemented fixes and new features are working as intended. We want to release the best possible product and not sacrifice the quality of the patch you are all waiting for. Join us on Friday to play the improved game!

The update will address crashes, save file backup and quest issues, include optimization-related changes, improve parkour, add new language versions (Czech, Slovak, Romanian, Hungarian, Korean) as well as add more improvements and fixes and new content.

Below you can see the preview of the improved parkour animation, which you will see in the update.



We assure you that the Byterunners Team are 100% focused on working on the new update and when this one is released, more updates will follow.

PAX ending, new update in 2 days!

So, PAX West is ending. What a time it has been! A lot of y’all visited our booth at the event in Seattle and we just might have some photo evidence of that. Take a look!

And now that PAX’s excitement is dying down, we’re barging in full force into the next update (coming Sept 4). What’s gonna be in it? Let’s recap:

  • Many bugfixes based on players’ feedback;
  • New drugs introduced: shrooms and hashish;
  • Added indicator when opponents are catching aggro on a player;
  • Improvements to the first-person and third-person parkour animations and camera movements;
  • Reduced the number of items required to be delivered to the container;
  • Added new models of special furniture (DIY table, Boss desks, etc.);
  • New private island for purchase.

Q&A / Status Update

Hi all!

For today, we planned to show you the replies to the questions you asked for the new Q&A session. However, seeing your reactions and suggestions, we decided to not bother Rafal and the team with Q&A before the new update. They will remain 100% focused on improving the DDS2 experience, and only after the update launches, we’ll ask for a couple of hours of their time to answer your questions. We think this approach is better for the game - so ultimately it's better for every player.

However! This means that you still have time to ask new questions. Publish them in the comments to this Steam post, and we’ll relay them to Rafal when the time is right.
