Battle Train News

We have NEWS!!!

We are incredibly thrilled to finally be able to let you in on the latest Battle Train News!

While we initially set out to self-publish Battle Train, our goal is to make the best game possible. We've had many opportunities cross our paths, and one such opportunity felt too good to pass up. That said, we're proud to announce that we’re now working with Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. to bring Battle Train to more folks in a couple of exciting ways.

You’ve probably heard of Bandai Namco Entertainment. They’ve been around about as long as our entire industry and are known as the publishers behind everything from PAC-MAN™ to Elden Ring™ to Katamari Damacy™ (AKA, the silliest game with the best game soundtrack ever made).

Look, we know Battle Train is good. Our friends and family know Battle Train is good. But getting word to the general gaming community has been an uphill battle for us, so having Bandai Namco Entertainment on board to help increase our visibility is awesome… but while marketing is crucial, this news is about more than just marketing.

With Bandai Namco Entertainment’s support, we were able to extend development and add more to the game, polish the heck out of it, and really make this game sing. We’re really pleased with the results. We’ve added extra cards, extra trains, extra trinkets, and extra time making sure Battle Train is an amazing gaming experience.

ALSO, we’re not just releasing on PC!!! We’ll be bringing the ludicrous action of Battle Train to the Nintendo Switch™ as well! Surprise!!!

Now, for those of you who have been waiting to get your hands on the game, we also have a release date to announce! Battle Train will be available for purchase on June 18th.

SUGOI Showcase!!

Battle Train is delighted to announce our participation in the SUGOI Showcase on March 27th!

The showcase is spotlighting games that live up to their name – ridiculously awesome. Games that show new angles on beloved genres, go off the rails and break the rules a bit, or are just so odd that they leave a mark. Battle Train is gonna fit right in.

They'll be streaming live on YouTube as they kick off the Steam Event, and you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cud7vqpdEoA

‘Tis the season 🌲

As we come to the end of 2024, we here at Terrible Posture just want to reach out and offer best wishes to our whole community. You guys are truly the gift that keeps on giving, and we wouldn’t be here, making games, if it wasn’t for you.

We hope you have a warm and festive holiday season, and that the New Year brings you plenty of joy and excitement.

And trains, of course.

A Very TPG Thanksgiving

For those of us in the US, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. While every year has its ups and downs, here are some of the things we here at Terrible Posture are grateful for:

  • Our Kickstarter was backed at 213%. That’s not too shabby, and we’re grateful to everyone who believed in the game enough to support us there.
  • Battle Train was also included in several top demo lists that came out during Steam Next Fest. In a field that had over 3,000 demos to try we’re grateful to have stood out among the crowd.
  • We’re grateful for the continued feedback from players who really seem to love the game. Your enthusiasm is awesome, and we appreciate it so much.

If you haven’t played the SUPER DEMO yet, it’s still available here on Steam! If you give it a try, let us know what you think.

For everyone waiting on the full game, the release date is still expected to be in early 2025, so stay tuned!

Thank you all for being a part of the Terrible Posture Community.

Turn Based Carnival: Mori Carta

Battle Train is part of the Turn Based Carnival going on right now here on Steam. One of the other games you'll find there is Mori Carta, which is a unique take on a deck-based card game.

From the Dev:
Mori Carta is the first "Handless" deckbuilding roguelike. Each of over 1000 cards represents a dynamic decision. Learning how to build and play 5 archetypes against over 185 uniquely challenging enemies will brutally test your skills. Join powerful companions into your strategy after first aiding them in their poetic and epic journeys.

Try our free discoverably deep demo on Steam!

When I tried it out, I was honestly intrigued by how the encounters work. Your own deck contains cards that represent the situation you're dealing with and the skills you bring to bear, and each card has an option to be played to the left or right, with different energy costs and different impacts based on where you play the card. For instance, for an ability card, you could play it to the left to expend some energy and deal damage, or you can play it to the right and gain energy while upgrading the card, so that when the card gets shuffled back into your deck it will be more powerful. Each encounter becomes a puzzle on how best to manage the deck you have, choosing which cards to expend energy for, which cards to upgrade, and where you can afford to accept the negative consequences for a card.

Fans of table top card games will find the mechanic easy to grasp and fun to play. If you give it a try, let us know what you think!
