👽❓We Found Mysterious Message❓🛸

[p]Sorry, guys, this is not a normal update, but we just received a mysterious letter.[/p]
[p]We spotted a lonely scroll floating among the islands of Driftland. By pure luck, it landed right on the edge of one of them.[/p]
[p]Our hunch tells us that it's written in the Driftland dwarven alphabet, even if the message itself seems to have been originally written in English 🤔[/p]

[p]Does this message hint at changes coming to the world of First Dwarf?[/p]

The mech has a name! Meet MEG Runebreaker ⚙️

[h2]Hey, everyone,[/h2]

A huge thank you for all the votes and name ideas you shared for our mech. We didn’t expect such a tight race, but the results were almost perfectly split across Steam Community and Reddit. Half of you voted for MEG and half for Runebreaker... Zero chance to pick just one without breaking hearts in the comments.

So we did what any respectable dwarven engineering team would do. We combined both winning ideas into one name:



MEG is the class of this machine, short for:

[h3]Mechanized[/h3] [h3]Excavation[/h3] [h3]Gear[/h3]

It fits perfectly with its role in exploration, construction and all the defense and combat you’ve relied on it for.

Runebreaker is the nickname Tru gives this specific MEG. It just felt right. And since Tru spends the most time inside the cockpit, we decided his opinion carries some serious weight here.

We love the result, and we hope you do too. It feels unique, lore-friendly, and very First Dwarf. And honestly, seeing the whole community so involved in naming our chunky metal friend made our week.

This month, we’re not stopping at a named mech. We have not one but TWO updates coming your way.

A major update packed with new features. Settlers will start performing new jobs inside their colonies, new buildings are coming, you’ll meet a new story character, and there is more we can’t wait to show you.

Turns out our mech never got a name 😅 Help us fix that! ⚙️

[p]For the longest time, our dwarf pilot Tru and his dragon companion Ragna had their names proudly set in stone. But their mana-powered mech? For us, he was always just... the mech. 😅[/p]

[p]After dozens of updates and countless adventures, we thought it might finally be time to give our sturdy metal friend a proper name. And since he’s been part of your journeys just as much as ours - we’d love your help choosing it![/p]

[p]We’ve narrowed it down to two ideas:[/p]

[p]Ever since the beginning of First Dwarf, our mech has been a constant presence - building, fighting, exploring, and saving colonies across the floating islands. To us, he’s always simply been “the mech” - a trusted companion you don’t really think of by name. But lately we felt it’s time he finally got one.[/p]

[p]So we’re turning to you, our community, to help make it official.[/p]

[p]M.dverg mk.I sounds like something straight out of a dwarven workshop - practical, compact, and full of engineering pride.
Runebreaker mk.I, on the other hand, feels more ancient and mythic - a rune-forged construct designed to channel mana and push back the Taint.[/p]

[p]The blueprint below should look familiar - you’ve seen this mech in action across countless islands, taking hits so your colonies could thrive. Now it’s time to give him a name worthy of all those battles fought (and repaired parts replaced 😅).[/p]

Update #31: Cute & Deadly

[p]In this update, we’ve made several optimization improvements; the game should now perform more smoothly and stably. We've also fixed multiple crash issues. In the next few updates, we’ll continue working on further optimizations![/p]
[p]As an expansion to the previous update, we've improved Sursas; now you can tame them! You can build a lair for them, and they’ll produce peat. On top of that, a tamed Sursa will protect its surroundings, helping you defend your base! :)[/p]

[p]We’ve also added mushrooms that grow in caves and, in the near future, will become an essential part of your settlers’ diet. But that’s not all, mysterious stone trees can now be found underground too![/p]

UPDATE #30: Wildlife Awakens

[h3]Hello fellow adventurers![/h3][p][/p][p]We always wanted to make a fully working ecosystem, that’s why this update is very important to us. We are introducing wildlife AI to two "new" animals, Sursa and Brown Striped Fluffgig. They inhabit Canyon and Alltree islands.[/p][p][/p][p]Sursas are bear-like animals with hard beaks. If you come close to them, they will try to scare you off with roaring. But if you disturb them more, they will protect themselves.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Fluffgigs are the opposite of that, they are literally fur balls :D They developed interesting defense mechanisms.
