Discounts, Reconnection and Save States: Here's what we're thinking about

[p]Welcome to another week with Gambrinous! We hope you had a great weekend. Spooky season is just around the corner and we're excited to see what the future brings... [/p][p]Here’s what’s on our minds / happening for us right now:[/p][h3]We’re on sale![/h3][p]You can get Eyes of Hellfire for 20% off during the Autumn Sale on Steam right now! Remember that because we use the Friend’s Pass system, only one player needs to buy the game and the other four can play for free. [/p][p]Full game ownership includes meta character progression, additional card unlocks, and customisation. These are unavailable when playing using the Friend’s Pass.[/p][h3]Save States[/h3][p]Our Save States feature went live last Friday, and it’s very encouraging to see all of your reactions to them. You can read about how exactly they work in our bumper post here and remember they're still a work in progress![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]We will continue polishing this new feature too, as we keep working through Early Access.[/p][h3]Reminder: Rejoining![/h3][p]If something happens mid-game, like a bug/issue, you can leave and rejoin using the same lobby code you entered when starting the game. [/p][p]But note, while you can join a game during the gathering, you will not be able to proceed until the Gathering is finished and the players have started a new turn. [/p][p]That being said we're SO GRATEFUL for those who have been reporting bugs will all of your logs and details in our company discord. It's been really helpful for us and we appreciate your patience. Introducing: Eyes of Hellfire Save States

[p]KLAXON! The update that so many of you have been waiting for is here. We’ve been working hard striking off tasks on our Roadmap, and we’re thrilled to announce that save states are here. Whoo hoo![/p][p]We really appreciate that organising play sessions and sitting down for a few hours takes time and effort, and sometimes you just want to take a break from it.[/p][p]So don’t forget to update your builds to 0.1.2025.9.26 and enjoy our new save state system.[/p][h3]Here’s how save states work:[/h3][p]Note: they are only available for the host/owner of the game.[/p][p]The below scenario select screen is what you see when you click: Play > Create Lobby. We now show a list of available scenarios. You must select the scenario you would like to play. See below - the 'load game' will be grayed out.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Once you have chosen your scenario, hit 'select' and will be taken to the lobby screen where you can gather your players as normal.[/p]
  • [p]When you play Eyes of Hellfire, you use ‘turns’ in-game. When everyone ends their turn, you go to The Gathering, a space where, irrespective of where you are in the Hellfire Club, you can chat.[/p]
  • [p]Once the Gathering is complete, you go into a new turn. This is where the game is saved. It saves the LAST TURN. So, if you decide to leave at this point, you should be able to resume from that point.[/p]
  • [p] You are now able to quit the game and load up a save state (if you want!).[/p]
[p][/p]
  • [p]You will see a list for the latest state to choose from by clicking 'Load Game' (see image above). There is one save slot per session (which is overridden each turn), but there can be multiple games/sessions to choose from.[/p]
[p]N.B. Since it saved your last turn, certain things that happen in the new turn won't necessarily happen if resuming from a session. Your hands of cards might be different, offers that came up in that new turn might not appear on starting, you may not experience corruptions, etc.[/p][p]Players are locked into their previous characters in the lobby and as of right now you can only play with players that you have previously played with (though you can start with fewer players - this is a work in progress!)[/p][p]We’re going to learn as we go too so let us know if you come across any major issues! We wanted to prioritise this for players because we know you’ve been asking for it.[/p][p]Let us know what you think! To steal or not to steal... Here's what we're thinking about this week

[h3]Hey, Early Access players![/h3][p]Welcome to another new week and thanks again for playing Eyes of Hellfire. It’s been great to see people stream the game and also share clips from their sessions. Speaking of, we loved this clip from Jesse Cox! [/p][p]If you have social clips to share with us, you can do so in our Discord![/p][p]This week we’re having a mull over many different things as usual, thanks to your brilliant feedback and reviews. [/p][p]While we can’t respond to everyone (we’re a small team after all!), we’re delighted to see them and we’re listening. Here’s what we’re thinking about right now.[/p][p]=======================[/p][h3]I choose you![/h3][p]We’re always intrigued to see who prefers certain characters over others. For me (Úna-Minh), I’m always drawn to healers in games, so I tend to gravitate to Patrick. Though so is my colleague Gary (Eyes of Hellfire Composer) and whenever we’re playtesting, we fight over who gets him first! [/p][p]For others, they tend to prefer Fionn for their abilities when alone in sections, which can make them super powerful in fights towards the endgame.[/p][p]Who do you play as? Let us know! And also, if there are types of characters you’d love to see, we’d be curious to hear your ideas too.[/p][p]=======================[/p][h3]To steal or not to steal[/h3][p]Speaking of character choices, we’d also love to find out if YOU are the stealer of your group. Everyone’s playstyle is different and for some folks on the Gambrinous team, they are serial stealers, cough Colm cough. [/p][p]Or perhaps you like to do things more stealthily and like to take that particular offer from the Host… hmmm. We’re keeping an eye on you…[/p][p]Or maybe you don't like to steal at all!
