Steam Deck News + Small Update!

Steam Deck is Playable!
[p]THE SPIRIT LIFT has already been played on Steam Deck by us and many of you! But now we have been reviewed by Steam and labeled "Playable"![/p][p][/p][p]Here's the two issues they flagged:[/p]
  • [p] With on-screen arrows on, the game mentions "WASD" controls. Instead of these keyboard controls, you can use the left stick of your Steam Deck or touch the arrows on your screen.[/p]
  • [p] "Some in-game text is small and may be difficult to read"... this is true and we have it in our backlog to fix these issues! In the meantime, one of our players suggested setting the resolution in the game options to a higher resolution. See if it works for you![/p]
[p]After our planned work on controller support, we will return to Steam Deck verification to get that green check![/p][p][/p]
BUILD UPDATE: 5658
[p]Here's the new patch notes:[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug in “Doing Research” event that caused it to always show the evidence file as not yet collected[/p]
  • [p]Updating Dorian’s Cufflinks Gear to apply to all shops encountered and not just the first one[/p]
  • [p]Updating Dorian’s Vest to only apply to purchases in the shop, and increased to +3 max health[/p]
  • [p]Renaming evidence title from “Masked” to “Local Legend”[/p]
  • [p]Moving the story event checkmark for finale flags to be in front of the key icon to match evidence[/p]
  • [p]Removed period from the end of certain run log messages for consistency (ex: “Healed X for skipping card upgrade”)[/p]
  • [p]Updating dialogue and wording in certain Story Events including fixing character replies that were out of order[/p]

A Clue to Unlocking All Cards
[p]We can see that some of you are playing for MORE THAN 50 HOURS?! One of us, one of us...

Therefore, we suspect that you are hunting out every card in the game for that achievement. But there's one in particular that's hard to find as it's hidden behind a puzzle from one of our trailers: [/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]If that puzzle is too puzzling, then perhaps this trivia will help!

How many runs does it take to unlock Garnet?
How many children did Ambrose Vexington have?
How many attacks does a Tripod do?

This sequence will lead you to an important date. To earn your daily bread, you'll need to find out what to do with it!

And as for last week's trivia, the answer is... the number of teenagers caught up in THE SPIRIT LIFT! Unlike the above questions, though, this answer has nothing to do with the puzzle.[/p]

  • [p]Fixed a bug where Oliver’s finale challenge wouldn’t mark itself as complete at the right time[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where Purify wouldn’t block incoming trauma from Rubber Boppie on the same turn that it cast a buff [/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug where Scoops would jump to the back if the freezers were killed in the same enemy turn with Curse [/p]
  • [p]Fixed Curse and Regen to not affect Scoops when he is away from the battle (in the back) [/p]
  • [p]Removed the small X on the Shop UI - Updates to several card descriptions for consistency [/p]
  • [p]Updated wording on Memory Loss trauma card to indicate that it can choose itself to discard [/p]

Launch Questions Answered!
[p][/p][p]We've gotten some great questions that we'd like to answer here, a little FAQ if you'll indulge us:[/p][p][/p][p]Is the game playable on Steam Deck?[/p][p]Yes! Many of our playtesters play the game on Steam Deck with touch controls. It also plays great on touch devices through Steam Link, so you can play on your phone or tablet!

We are still working on Steam Deck verification, thanks for your patience.

Is there controller support?
Not yet! We love playing deckbuilders with controllers, so this is on the roadmap. However, with so many menus we wanted to make sure we took the time to make it the smoothest and best experience possible. We will keep you updated on this!

Is the game appropriate for all ages?[/p][p]Depends, but we have had playtesters as young as six playing the game (with some reading assistance from an adult!) There is no gore, only cartoon violence, and minimal references to drugs and alcohol from our teenage characters. Younger players might ask you what a slap bracelet is, though.
