Q: Where will I be able to play it?
A: Town of Zoz is planning to launch on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.


Q: What is Town of Zoz?
A: Town of Zoz is a narrative driven action RPG set in a modern fantasy world inspired by Latin American culture. Step into the shoes of Ito, a young shaman chef adventurer, who returns to his family’s farm and restaurant in the village of Zoz. Once he arrives home, Ito and his spirit guide Zee uncover ancient secrets and the nightmares that plague the townsfolk.


Q: What are the inspirations behind Town of Zoz?
A: Town of Zoz is broadly inspired by Anime from the 90s such as Dragon Ball as well as SNES/PS2 RPGs such as Secret of Mana and the Dragon Quest series. It’s also roughly inspired by the artistry and history of several Indigenous Latin American cultures.


Q: How do you describe what Town of Zoz plays like?
A: It plays similar to an old-school action adventure RPG. Think of it as one of our game inspirations Secret of Mana mixed with the storied Rune Factory series. Take advantage of Ito’s magical machete to battle enemies and team up with various companions, each who have unique abilities.


Q: The food in Town of Zoz looks delicious! What benefits do they have in the game?
A: Ito will prepare meals using ingredients gathered from fighting enemies and farming, and those meals will power him up to take on more challenging combat. Additionally, giving villagers their favorite meals will help strengthen Ito's bonds with them.


Q: How did Zoz’s art style come to be?
A: We wanted something that was reminiscent of older, more expressive anime styles of the 90s. Akira Toriyama’s older works were always so interesting with his shape exploration. We wanted to channel a bit of that along with a retro-ish game style.


Q: What is the story of Town of Zoz?
A: Our story begins with Ito, training with his spirit friend, Zee. A letter arrives from Ito's parents, asking him to return home and help with the family farm and restaurant. Ito reluctantly complies.


However, what begins with helping on the family farm and running errands in town leads Ito to stumble upon the "curse" of the Town of Zoz and a nightmarish reflection of it. As he unravels the town's mysteries, he will fight and defeat manifestations of the townspeople's trauma, the Nightmare Demons.
