Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles News

Hey, Oracles!

Gamescom 2022 is now live and attendees in Cologne will have the incredible opportunity to play Astrea live at the event! But we didn't want players at home to be left in the dark, so we've set a brand, new version of the Astrea Demo live, featuring Cellarius the Tide Hammer! In order to unlock Cellarius, you'll need to beat the demo once with Moonie!

Whereas Moonie specializes in converting corrupt dice, enhancing small amounts of purification, and turning hex dice to her advantage, Cellarius specializes in empowering his purification, accepting corruption for big hits of purification, and having enemies unleash purification when they're defeated. An altogether more aggressive, powerful character, Cellarius is sure to show you the kind of power you can bring to bear when you're willing to accept corruption to fuel your attacks!

If you've never played the demo before, here's what's on offer: Play through a short run of battles and one boss, collecting dice, star blessings, and sentinels along the way, to see what Astrea is all about! While runs in the base game will be longer, with more battles and bosses to overcome, this should give you a good understanding of what the Astrea experience will be like!

Slay the Spire really is too good. Not only did it create a boom of me-too roguelike deckbuilders over the last five years, it also set such a high bar that few of the games releasing in its shadow can hope to measure up. I don't think I'm the only person who sees card games now and releases a little involuntary sigh. There are so many, and even the good ones are starting to feel a bit too similar...

Hey, oracles!

It's your ol' pal, Buddy, Community Manager for Akupara Games and I'm hosting a special in-development livestream of the Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles alpha on Friday April 22nd at 1PM Eastern/10AM Pacific Time! A game like Astrea really benefits from lots of playtesting so I thought to myself: "Why not bring the community in on that?" I'll be hanging out for about two or three hours and definitely running at least one giveaway for another Akupara game, so stop by our Twitch channel and give us a follow.

Last time I ran an in-development stream, we beat the game with an exceptionally powerful Moonie build and this time I wanna try my hand at a little shark punching action. Cellarius, a big beefy hammerhead shark with an anchor for a weapon, has a number of different mechanics compared to Moonie, so I'm going to have to switch up my tactics and strategies if I want to win.

I'll also do my best to answer any and all questions that pop up during the stream, which is good for you and bad for my ability to focus on not getting corrupted. So, I promise to show you exciting gameplay, most of which will end in me losing my runs.

Because we're featured in the very cool, very awesome MIX Showcase at GDC, we thought it'd be a good time to put a little Astrea out there in the world. For a treat.

Today, the demo for Astrea: Six-sided Oracles is now live! While runs in the base game will be longer, with more battles and bosses to overcome, this is the best way we could put something polished into your hands now.

I'm Buddy, Community Manager for Akupara Games and I'm hosting a special in-development livestream of the Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles alpha on Friday January 28th at 11AM Pacific Time! A game like Astrea really benefits from lots of playtesting so I thought to myself: "Why not bring the community in on that?"

I'll be hanging out for about two or three hours and definitely running at least one giveaway for another Akupara game, so stop by our Twitch channel and give us a follow. I'm planning to feature Astrea (and our other in-development titles!) a lot over 2022 so it's definitely the inside track for our games. On Friday, you'll see plenty of unedited gameplay footage, get a sense for all the bells and whistles that haven't been announced yet, and get an inside look into the different builds, tactics and strategies available to players as they make their way through the game.
