Dystopia Version 1.5.1 Released

We've already released another update, version 1.5.2! Check it out here.

Dystopia 1.5.1

The last 24 hours have been fantastic. Many old friends and players have come to visit, and an equal amount of new players have joined for the launch of Dystopia 1.5. This has meant more testing help, so we've squashed a lot of bugs!

If you see more, head to our Bug Tracker, tell us about them on our Discord Server and don't forget to Support continued development!

Changelog
Changes
  • Update to another new version of the Source Engine.
  • Added missing “dystopia” binary to Linux client
  • Added directional RTT shadows.

  • Linux Dedicated Server binaries now properly download from steamcmd.
  • Improved dynamic shadows.
  • Fixed ammo dispenser animation not playing.
  • Attempted to fix the "rolled view" spawn bug.
  • Fix jittery and stuttery movement by using better precision for player origin and angles.
  • Fixed up prediction for client and forced it for all non-cheaters.

  • Third party maps are not included. (We plan on working with authors to migrate these to the new Dystopia workshop.)

Linux Client and 1.5 Update Released!

UPDATE: We've released version 1.5.1 with fixes and features!

Dystopia 1.5.0

It’s been 3 years, 5 months and 22 days since a major update to Dystopia, and after some teasing (and subsequent delays,) we’re excited to bring you Version 1.5.0.

In addition to releasing our new games, Blade Symphony and Galacide, 1.5.0 was delayed due to the challenges of upgrading the engine. Source SDK Base, a required dependency, would cause Dystopia to break any time it was updated, so we’ve removed that dependency.

Dystopia 1.5.0 is a new baseline. In the last 8 months, we’ve migrated our massive infrastructure, created a new build system distributed across numerous cloud machines, that compile on multiple platforms and architectures. This will allow us to release updates at a faster pace.

To report bugs, please check out our Dystopia bug tracker on Github, and join other players in the official Puny Human Discord. The development of Dystopia 1.5 was paid for by our lovely Patrons. Thank you to everyone!

Changelog
Changes
  • Migrated Dystopia from Source SDK Base to HL2 version of Source Engine
  • Added Linux Client
  • Added anti-aliasing around all fonts in-game
  • Changed chat text font from standard HL2 font to SpaceOne font
  • Added Windowed (No Border) option
  • Fixed shells the gun used (no longer uses CSS:S shells)
Known Issues
  • Linux Dedicated Server binaries are not downloading using SteamCMD. (We're working with Valve on this. Get them here to host a server! Put the bin dir in the same dir as core and dystopia)
  • Source SDK Base still downloads. (We're working with Valve on this.)
  • Splash movie and intro movie do not play.
  • Third party maps are not included. (We plan on working with authors to migrate these to the new Dystopia workshop.)
  • Players sometimes have their views tilted when they spawn.
  • Voice comms aren't playing sounds.
  • Jittering for high-ping players.
