Space Trash Scavenger News

Thank you Next Fest!

Greetings Scavengers!

Steam Next Fest 2023 is winding up today, so we'll be taking down the demo of Space Trash Scavenger. I wanted to thank everyone who checked out the game or wishlisted it. It's been amazing to see so many people play it.

Also thanks to everyone who hit F1 and sent us your thoughts (or posted in the forums). Yes, I now have literally hundreds of items to go through - but this will be really useful. I saw tonnes of encouraging comments in there too - it keeps us motivated and focused, so thank you for those.

We'd love it if you drop by the discord server so you can stay up to date with the dev, or just hang out in general.

Sarah and I have been working on this for 2.5 years now, and the demo was a big milestone. Now we're ready to hunker down and get the game ready for wider release. There's more to come for this game!

Some of the things we'll be working on include more tech, more automation and drones, more proc gen interior locations, more enemies and more NPCs.

If you didn't already, please wishlist the game! Until then, see you around Scavenger!

Space Trash Scavenger Demo Is Here

Hi all,

We're really excited to release a demo of Space Trash Scavenger to you today as part of Steam Next Fest 2023.

Space Trash Scavenger is an open world, survival, crafting and base building game, set amongst the debris of a long forgotten war. Use your jetpack to procedural asteroid fields, derelict spaceships and abandoned outposts. Then come back to build and expand you Space Rig, process and recycle the trash, and manufacture products to sell on the stock market.

The game features procedural sectors you can visit and scavenge in turn. There are also characters and quests revealed as you progress. There are a few NPCs to find in the current demo. You can use conveyor pads and drones to automate your systems, although this is generally optional and depends how you like to play.

This is our first game after finishing Overcrowd: A Commute 'Em Up. We've been working on it 2.5 years now. Keep in mind the game isn't finished, so this is just a taster, an alpha demo, and you may rarely encounter bugs.

We'll be adding more outposts, more space wrecks to explore, more trash and more enemies as we continue the development. The demo can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on how fast you like to go, and whether you want do the optional goals.

Check out the full F.A.Q if you have any more questions:

And let us know what you think in the forum, drop by the discord, or by hit f1 at any time in game to file feedback. If you like what you see, please do wishlist the game. The demo will probably only be available this week, so we hope you get a chance to check it out!

Build 0.1988

Build 0.1988

-packing incubators (eg. algae tank/furnace) will drop any in their storage, rather than lose it
-tool tips have extra line so text not overlapping
-remove multiple wall packs. All blueprint recipes now only fabricate one item, (and atomise to one item) to aimplify and remove any resource number/tool tips confusion.
-updated wall and ceiling costs to be lower, and build time is now much lower (1 sec).
-attempt to fix unchildattractor nullreference crash. This may have caused packing process to fail.
