In-depth 1.42.5 Patch Notes (More detailed, may contain spoilers)

More detailed patch notes for our recent update:

MAIN GAME

BUG FIXES
- Sniper and pistols shooting through walls to press buttons
- Death pit in Factory to Living Quarters passage was not long enough
- Lab worm monster stuck when spawning in

Softlock
- Opening map when entering climb challenges made the game stuck resulting in player having to wait out the timer
- Players could get stuck inside a door in a room in smokestack forest when respawning
- Coming up from bottom of lab without spirella defeated caused player to be stuck in skull blocks (indirectly fixed by fixing shooting through wall bug)
- Living Quarters arena: you can softlock the game if enemies are defeated by being knocked off
- Certain block in lab caused player to get stuck
- Famine fight: player can respawn into wall

UI
- Final screen now counts Titania head as a piece
- Enemy HP damage display could show as enemy having 0 HP
- Blacksmith frame was added

Dialogue
- Lake dialogue for Nell calling for help appears even when Nell hadn't been spoken to in factory roof resulting in Nell not appearing at the top of the cliff
- Seer was talking when the cat should
- Meow added to climb challenge

Sprite
- Ichor refinery lamp sprites updated to use correct sprites
- Fish tile sprites in lab were not displaying correctly

Music/Sound
- Waiting too long in Eli and Nell fight room caused music to play again
- Quieter teleport ambient
- Arena music was not playing
- Victory sound was not playing when a climb challenge was completed
- Sound added to tree in forest entrance

Crashes
- Killing shotgun enemies in frame it spawns crashed the game

BALANCING Level Design
- Entrance to the lab is harder to get into
- Maya's first boss room has a thinner floor so players can see the boss before they enter the room
- Certain lab rooms no longer have the big worm chasing you to make obtaining items easier
- Juni's Challenge has some rooms adjusted as room transitions can be a bit forgiving. We didn't want part of the player "mess ups" to be because they accidentally dropped below the room and activated the room transition

Enemies/Bosses
- "Slow spikes" that Famine and other enemies shoot slow the player less when player is grappling
- "Slow spikes" move 5% slower
- Famine has a little less HP

Weapons
- Rocket Launcher buff: Rockets have pre-nerf knockback when players have heavy ammo trinket equipped
- Decrease power in final gun upgrade

LEVEL EDITOR Bug Fixes
- One hit kill trinket was not working
- Trinket descriptions were incorrect

Features
- Image thumbnails can now be uploaded
- Some sounds added

After hearing your feedback and bug reports, we have rolled out an update which fixes other crash/softlock bugs that were affecting the playability of the game. We've also made some balance and QoL changes to the game as listed below.

[h3]Crash/Soft-lock Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed crash bug that occurred when killing a certain enemy while it spawned in
  • Fixed soft-lock bug that occurred when player enters a certain location from a certain route that caused the player to get stuck in a wall
  • Fixed soft-lock bug where knocking off enemies in a certain arena caused the player to get soft-locked
  • Fixed bug where players would get stuck within doors and blocks

[h3]Miscellaneous Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed lingering bug where certain weapons could shoot through walls and press buttons
  • Fixed bug where opening the map during a certain climb challenge made the game stuck
  • Fixed dialogue issues with certain characters
  • Fixed music/audio bugs in certain locations
  • Fixed issues with certain weapons and locations
  • Fixed the Fae of Glass trinket issue and corrected its description in the Level Editor
  • Fixed UI bug in the map menu
  • Fixed bug with a certain death pit

[h3]QoL Updates/Changes[/h3]
  • Adjusted the layout of several entrances/rooms
  • Adjusted balance of several enemy mechanics
  • Adjusted balance of certain weapons and weapon upgrades
  • Adjusted a certain boss' HP
  • Adjusted layout of a certain climb challenge
  • Updated several sprites
  • Adjusted volume of several sound effects
  • Added a new frame design to a certain NPC
  • Added several new sound effects

Patch Notes for Crash/Freeze/Save Data bugs and QoL Changes

Thank you all for playing Rusted Moss!
After hearing your feedback and bug reports, we have rolled out an update that fixes a lot of the crashes/freezes, and audio issues that were affecting the playability of the game.

[h3]Crash/Freeze/Save Data Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed crash/freeze bug in the Mountainside area.
  • Fixed crash bug when a certain boss gets defeated and falls off the edge.
  • Fixed crash bug that occurred when you fall in a spike trap with a certain trinket equipped during a Climbing Challenge.
  • Fixed crash bug that occurred when money or grenades fall into pits in certain rooms.
  • Fixed crash bug in the Level Editor where playing a custom level would sometimes crash the game.
  • Fixed a bug that caused save files to become corrupted and unplayable.
  • Fixed save issues that occurred when saving at Giant Chimney.


[h3]Miscellaneous Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed audio issues for boss fights including: boss themes would replay after defeating certain bosses and boss themes would not start playing during a fight.
  • Fixed several audio issues including: memory audio leak, lack of or muted sound effects, and incorrect music being played.
  • Fixed a bug where you could jump and hook onto moss or enemies through a floor/ceiling that would sometimes cause crashes.
  • Fixed an bug that got players stuck in walls if they charge jumped through a room.
  • Fixed an exploit where the pistol and sniper rifle could pierce through walls and activate switches.


[h3]QoL Updates[/h3]
  • Added the ability to press Esc key to return to previous menus
  • Added more resolutions (4x, 5x, 6x)
  • Adjusted volume of bat wing sounds
  • Adjusted volume of jump sounds
  • Added cat sprite on top of a Climbing Challenge.
  • Adjusted a certain boss' HP
  • Adjusted properties of a certain trinket
  • Adjusted knockback of a certain weapon
  • Adjusted the tutorial area's level design
  • Added screenshake at the end of a certain boss fight
  • Adjusted enemy spawns in certain locations
  • Added a gate in a certain area

Rusted Moss Coming to Steam on April 12! Artbook & OST Available too!



We finally have a release date!
April 12 is the day that Rusted Moss will be available on Steam.

While we initially planned to release the game sooner, the extra time allowed the development team to further polish and perfect all aspects of the game. We're confident that as a result, we're able to bring you an even more unforgettable experience full of amazing grappling and shooting action.

Furthermore, we'll also be releasing an artbook and original soundtrack to complement the game. For those of you looking to dive deeper into the world of Rusted Moss, definitely look out for the bundle with all 3 items included!
