Ortharion: The Last Battle, an Ortharion Project ++?

Hello Adventurer,

Here, it's Sylvain, and if Adrien remains the main actor in the development of Ortharion The last Battle, my place will not be taken lightly, because I will be assisting him in terms of the narrative part and for communication about the game.

If Ortharion Project is, Adrien will agree with me, a test which made it possible to see that he had the capacity to develop a video game from A to Z, he quickly wanted to start the project from scratch, to lay the foundations for a more immersive and consistent universe, while revamping the code.

We will not say that Ortharion Project is sloppy because after a main story of about ten hours, which led your character to level 25, it was possible to continue the adventure for a good fifty hours of additional play, in exceeding level 100 thanks to the random levels offered in the base camp in the form of the arena which offered trials and a dungeon which was customizable.

But the main story was quite basic and was supported by fedex quests which did not do justice to the richness of the gameplay offered.

It's why Ortharion: The Last Battle will be a game that will highlight the depth of the gameplay of Ortharion Project while increasing it further, and on the other hand, a story and a much more important lore.

Be aware: the game will be 10 times larger than the first opus with 16 maps of 1km by 1km instead of 8 of 0.5km by 0.5km. It will have many class combinations, more than 300 skills and will be as rich as the most recognized action-RPGs.

But what will really make Ortharion: The Last Battle shine will be its lore and stories. Because this time, the player will have choices of dialogues to make, and there will be consequences thereafter, and for the player, and for the NPCs who surround him, even for the whole kingdom in which he will travel.

You will have access to two main quests, faction quests, side quests, romances and missions in instanced levels.
So you realize that the game will gain in volume and will allow the player to take the future of his avatar - and the kingdom - into his own hands.

  • Identification scrolls are properly consumed, regardless of the situation.
Improvement :

  • The default zoom distance is set to maximum value instead of minimum when launching the game.

Balancing:

  • Increased monster lives by 15%.
  • Wolves move 20% faster.
  • Increased Poison Elemental bell impact area by 50% and reduced poison damage by 30%.

So you haven't heard from us for 4 months and for good reason, we were preparing this month of October which is going to be VERY dense! With the program, and described in detail later, the demo, the Kickstarter campaign and the progress of development.

What's in the demo?

Sylvain here. Recently, I told you about what you were going to do in the Ortharion: The Last Battle demo in terms of the story. But it's not just that. In addition to the action-RPG side with creatures present everywhere in nature that you will fight in real time, you will also have the possibility of trading with some NPCs, of collecting some fragments of Ortharion which is one of the main quests.
We can't tell you how long it will take you to finish this demo - a few hours at most - but in any case, it will be dense, but not representative of the final version which will include a lot more things.


Indeed this demo will have:

  • Few class combination possibilities.
  • Incomplete talent trees.
  • Unexplained runic words, even if fully functional.
  • No duality between the factions, in any case you will not see the impact of your choices on the length.
  • Longitudinal alignment with a lean towards one or the other of the factions
  • No management of the adventurers guild (the bulk of the game)
  • A crafting system that still requires work.
  • A single environment with a single indoor area.
  • The world is not in Open World (tests still to be done, but the performance and technology are already there).


In this demo, it will be possible to visit two ruined citadels and a cemetery, but be aware that the creatures inside will be adapted to your level, which will no longer be the case with the full version.
Yes, the demo allows you to take charge of your character and enjoy effective gameplay, but you will only touch the lore, love stories, rivalry and adventure. This demo is therefore adapted so that you have a small idea of ​​what to expect, while knowing that the full version which will be released in some time will be in early access and will evolve according to your comments! Future contributors. Because now let's talk about crownfunding. And I leave the floor to Adrien.

Why a kickstarter campaign?


In addition to the demo, a Kickstarter campaign will take place at the same time. Because you understand that by having increased the volume of the game and its narrative content, it requires a substantial budget to be able to provide more means to improve it.
Yes, there is very little dubbing or translation other than French and English professionally at the moment, but it's up to you to invest yourselves financially or voluntarily to help us and thus allow Ortharion: the Last Battle to become a major title.

What are the additions of the last 4 months?


The goal was to test all of the game mechanics, except the guild, to see if everything worked well and if there were any changes to be made, which they did.

In the main features I can talk about:

  • New level design and new scenery for the 1st terrain.
  • Added quest to help the player.
  • Added Ortharion Teleporters and Fragments to improve game pacing.
  • Aim assist and outline on selected objects.
  • The runic writing system, with the creation of runic letters and words, is completely finished.
  • Added material objects to reinforce or modify equipment (loosely on the same model as Path of Exile)
  • Ranking system
  • New attack animations and sounds based on equipped weapons.
  • Doors that open under certain conditions.
  • The spells on the equipment evolve according to the rarity.
  • Added a test to enter the Magic Academy.
  • Added about 30 skills, for a total of 300.
  • Already 68 spells for rare equipment and more.
  • Improved loading times and FPS with a streaming system (technology used to make the open world)
  • Improved quality of life.
  • Increased number of options available for graphics.
  • Identification system that requires intelligence (and skills).
  • Picking system that requires dexterity (and skills).
  • Weight system that depends on strength (and skill).
  • Improved the visuals of some skills.
  • Changed code structure to make new gear and quests added faster.
