Demo Update!

Firstly, we wanted to say thank you so much for checking out Mythmatch and playiing the demo. I can't believe that over 8,000 people have downloaded the demo!

But without further ado, here are the changes we've made in the most recent build.

  • Follow Camera smoothed to prevent motion sickness
  • Speed setting for minigame accessibility
  • Throw preview changed to dotted box
  • Tips added to the pause menu
  • Drop tables for Demeter's Garden no longer always spawn the best item
  • Arrow key support added for movement and UI
  • Crafting will auto selected based on current tasks

And here's some more details about of some of the changes.

We change the throw preview from a light ghosted version that nobody ever noticed to a simple dotted line. Now you can always see where the item will end up, including if it'll get given to a character for a quest or thrown into a crafting table. This should also help to make it clear that you don't need a space in front of you to drop something. You can just throw and Artemis will move out of the way.

It was annoying to have to go to the crafting table to select a recipe, especially when you only had one recipe unlocked. But we wanted it to work for the wider game too. So now the recipes will look at all your tasks to see if they need anything crafted and will automatically select the most important thing as the recipe. Don't worry, though, you can always manually change it to something else.

We also made two additions to the pause menu. First up, we added a few tips on the left side. It'll be probably be it's own tab in the final game that'll build up over time, but we just wanted to have a few reminders for new players in the demo.

And in addition, one of the most common requests we got was an accessibility feature for the speed of the minigames. So while the minigames are supposed to be a good balance of challenging and frustrating, this will allow players to help find the right balance for them.

If you have any feedback from your experiences with the demo, here's where you can let us know.

Mythmatch will be livestreamed on July 11 at 2PM PST (10PM BST)

Mythmatch is part of the IGF Celebration Days event! As part of this, Moo, one of the developers of Knights and Bikes, will be streaming the demo of Mythmatch and hopefully will remember to speak a bit about the development process.

It'll be his first time ever streaming, so definitely give some tips or questions in chat (and be patient please).
