[h3]Who are WDC?[/h3]
WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation are the leading global charity dedicated to the protection of whales and dolphins.
Their expert-led teams in the UK, Europe, the Americas, and Australasia work across the whole spectrum of threats, from climate breakdown to accidental entanglements in fishing gear, pollution, captivity and hunting and whaling. They bring together, and work hand-in-hand with, businesses, philanthropists, scientists, NGOs, governments and grassroots communities to find solutions to the problems faced by whales and dolphins.
Their mission is to reverse the global decline of whale and dolphin populations by creating safe seas for these majestic beings. And their vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.

[h3]What is ghost gear?[/h3]
Ghost gear is fishing gear that has been lost or abandoned at sea. It’s a deadly menace to whales, dolphins and other marine life.
When a whale or dolphin gets tangled in it, it can kill them in the most horrific way, by preventing them from getting to the surface to breathe. Or they can carry it for days, weeks or even months suffering a slow and painful death as it cuts into their skin, restricts their movement and hampers their ability to hunt and feed.
But it’s difficult and expensive for fishers and other ocean users to dispose of gear they find at sea, or even to responsibly get rid of their own gear at the end of its life.
Did you know that about 1/3 of marine litter found in European seas is discarded fishing gear? That's estimated to be over 11,000 tonnes entering the sea each year!
It is a massive problem and so WDC are working on some innovative solutions.

Spirit Of The North 2 | What's Coming?

We just wanted to check in to let you know working hard behind the scenes.

There’s a lot currently in progress, and while not everything is ready to show just yet, we wanted to give you a quick peek behind the curtain.


[h3]Backup Saves[/h3]
One of the bigger features we’re focused on right now is backup saves - this will let players roll back their save file in case something goes wrong (power outages, etc.). It’s been a common request, and we're making good progress on it!

[h3]Soundtrack[/h3]
The official stand-alone soundtrack is also coming together beautifully. It’s still a few weeks out, but it’s getting close, and we think it’ll be definitely worth the wait!

[h3]Fixes[/h3]
We’ve been working through many of environmental fixes: we're patching between 5 to 50 issues a day! That includes miss aligned meshes, collision bugs, holes in map, etc. Thank you for reporting these when you find them!

We’re also adding key binds for specific menu tabs, like pressing “M” to open the map directly. This was one of the most requested features, and we’re happy to be implementing it.

There is a bug that disable reflections when the player uses Low Settings. It honestly looks horrendous and was not intended. If you've been playing and everything has a strange white glossiness to it, this is why. We've fixed it and it is queued for the next update. This will make LOW quality look like a 100x better in many situations.

Hotfix #2 | Week 2 Update

[h2]Greetings Guardians! 🦊 [/h2]

We’re excited to share that Hotfix #1.3, CL 12895, now live on PC, with the console update arriving in just a few days! This patch brings a host of important fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and community-requested changes. Let’s dive in:


[h3]🔧List of fixes[/h3]
Collection Removed At End Of Game. Fixed issue that caused players to lose their collection(Relics and Keys) after finishing game if they died before reaching a Statue of Eona.
Save Game Repair. We implemented a script that audits and repairs your save file that runs automatically when you select a save game to play. Currently this includes fixes for those who's Relics and Keys were deleted at the end of their game. The game will re-add them when you relaunch your save game. This script also attempts to re-add your Raven companion if you have a Glide Rune but no Raven.
Landscape and Cliff meshing around Misthaven Northern gate. Waterfall and pond added to prevent players from accessing Highlands with a torch.
Jump Gate in North Misthaven now uses standing stone for activation(requires spirit form).
Stag Temple now traps player inside to force them to use Spirit Form. Many players were obtaining Spirit Form and just leaving.
Progress Lost issue #1. The Ram Encounter would continue to block autosave if the player abandoned it. This lead to player losing progress if they continued to play for a long time and then dying.
Progress Lost issues #2. Some puzzle involving hiding wisps and cutscenes would not stop blocking autosaves. This lead to player losing progress if they continued to play for a long time and then dying.
Removed rogue lever in front of Bear Guardian Temple.
Various fixes to Fox Island behavior and appearance when returning after end of game. ie Killbox under wooden bridge will not be present. Also plugged hole leading to portion of cave that is intended to be inaccessible.
Lighting changes for Lumen on Xbox Series S
Mosswood Foliage Cleanup.
Added ext triggers for some Stormvale structures.
Internet Time Events now uses our own website. This should fix the issue of events like the Light Weaver not being blocked in countries like Russia. We will continue to test and work on this and thank you for you ongoing patience.
Added Bear Roar SFX to end encounter.
Added missing lava SFX
Misc fixes for environment holes and and misaligned meshes.

-Triggers that are only intended to trigger once now only trigger once(Broke on Hotfix 1.0). This applies to the cutscene where the fox goes across the bridge.

-Floating objects

-Jump target tag fixes

-Filled all the roof holes in Mosswood vaults (If player returned with Air jump or Lift Glide they coul escape).

-Landscape, meshing and misc environment bug fixes in various areas from Discord bug reports from players. (Thank you!)

Hotfix #1

Thank you so much for all the support and kindness you've shown our small team in the first week of our game's launch - we're overwhelmed with the amount of support! You've been incredibly helpful by sharing the bugs and issues you've encountered.

There are still issues to address and it's likely others will pop up, the five of us are quickly looking to address what we can by importance and volume and we've been hard at work implementing a number of fixes to issues you, our community highlighted. These include;

[h3]Gameplay changes & fixes[/h3]
  • We've added a Wisp after the glide cavern, to help guide the player towards Mosswood
  • In the Sunfire passage, the door that requires pressure plates, now requires rope pulls to open it, allowing players to backtrack if they want
  • The Raven logic has been updated. Now, Thought the Raven will return to you even if you choose not to follow her directions
  • Murals now ignite regardless of Thought being with you or not. Now murals will always be lit, so you don't miss then on the change Thought has gone on her own little adventure..
  • Tweaks to the Sunfire passage to make the area more consistent and streamlined
  • The Guardian Intro Cutscenes now only play once per gameplay session
  • Added an additional condition for Thought joining you, fixing for players who managed to miss her
  • Dropped Items now disappear after 3 minutes instead of 2
  • The Raccoon Cleanup Crew will hold items for a full 10 seconds before taking it (instead of 5), giving the player more time to react
  • Bite damage is no longer prevented by equipping the Thorn Walker Rune
  • Wisp form can no longer be used to bypass the Sea Monster, AKA Gerald
  • Wisp form can no longer be used to prevent damage to fox body
  • Fixes to Ashlands Snake Shrine puzzle making it more consistent



[h3]Environment changes & fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed trap holes in Stormvale Tower that players can fall down and get stuck inside
  • Ashland Racoon Grotto collision bug fixes
  • Fox Island foliage bug fixes
  • Raven Temple trap holes collision fixes
  • Sign posts added before and after glide cavern to help guide player
  • Tree trunk collisions updated, so foxes are no longer stuck in trees..
  • Stormvale cliff meshing around Ram Temple updated to keep players from climbing up to the top before returning the Relics
  • We've added numerous blockers for player graves in dungeons, so that the graves will no longer spawn at the bottom of inaccessible pits and instead, close to the last spot they fell from
  • Performance Issues near player home mirrors fixed
  • Forest Tower collision fixes
  • Blockers added to Misthaven to keep players from leaving before cleansing Memory



[h3]Audio[/h3]
  • Re-exported Major Guardian cutscenes in better quality
  • Added a new sound effects to 'evil' associated puzzles
  • Fix for Final guardian pre-fight music not triggering
  • Fix for Fox vocalizations not playing in corrupted zones
  • Further memory optimization, more music now streams
  • Added Tribe layer of audio to Raven Temple and Seer’s Crypt
  • Added SFX to burning trees in Ashland
  • Added Vista music changes
  • Added Puzzle Complete sound effects to all Biomes
  • Guardian 3&4 Cutscene audio now plays correctly on multiple encounter attempts
  • Glacier music now plays correctly
  • Glacier sound effects tweaks
  • Added Glide sound effects
  • Whimper SFXs tweaked
  • Added Outro for final guardian Encounter
  • Added SFX to a phase of the final guardian Encounter


[h3]Console Specific[/h3]
*Console fixes will go live in the next 10 working days.
Global Illumination issues have been addressed, resolving excessive darkness in underground areas. Lighting quality in these areas is now comparable to the PC version
Fixed camera jitter. Camera movement over uneven surfaces/collisions now matches PC behaviour
