Treasure and Tools

Treasure Maps
These are rare rewards from books, quests, or mountain treasure chests. Treasure maps can be viewed from your inventory. They each show an image of somewhere around the village with an X on it. If you find the place the map shows you, then you can interact with it to get a reward.

These rewards can be gems, crafting supplies, and other items well worth your time to find.

Tools
Tools are always accessible from the action bar at the bottom of your screen instead of in your inventory. My goal was to make it so you can’t “forget” your tools and can use them at any time.

You can also upgrade your tools by talking to Lady Valeska. Upgrading tools can increase the area of effect for your watering can, scythe, and hoe, allow you to gather resources deeper in the dungeon for your axe and pickaxe, and allow you to gather rare fish with your fishing pole. If you upgrade your scythe enough, you’ll be able to use it to harvest crops which makes harvesting much faster.

Tool upgrades while expensive, are well worth the investment.

New Title and Major Demo Update!
New Title
Pine Lily Village will now be called Seeds of Calamity! This is still the game you’ve always known but the story has been much improved so the title has changed to reflect that.
Major Demo Update
Of course, with the new story comes a demo update! There is a new opening cutscene and more fleshed out villager backstories (and a ton of bug fixes). Because of how many changes I’ve made, unfortunately you will not be able to use an old save

(sorry about that!)
What’s going on?!
So, you might be thinking: “These changes are great and all but what gives? You announce a publisher partnership and then next thing I know you’re changing the title of the game! Seems sus.”

I assure you, all of the changes to the game have been designed and executed by me. I had actually been considering changing the story of the game before I even met with a publisher and longtime followers will know that I’ve changed the story of the game a few times already. I’ve always loved the characters of the game but struggled with the world building.
So that’s what I’ve changed!
Seeds of Calamity is a JRPG inspired world full of heroes and magic. During a great war between nations, an all-powerful beast called the Great Calamity was summoned. It caused so much devastation, that the two waring nations agreed to a peace treaty. That was 20 years ago and now you are tasked with helping rebuild from that war.

You’ll send supplies back to the main city from your farm to help with the reconstruction efforts. Along the way, you’ll complete quests for the villagers, defeat dangerous creatures in the dungeon, and all other farming sim activities you’ve come to know and love.

I hope you enjoy the new and improved demo. As always, if you have any feedback for the game, feel free to post on the Steam forum or fill out the survey from the main menu of the demo. I read every post and really appreciate it. 😊

Finally, Seeds of Calamity will be participating in the Cozy Quest festival between November 14-17th. So if you’re looking for other great cozy games, stay tuned for tomorrow!

Here be Dragons (Slimes)

You will encounter many dangerous enemies while making your way to defeat the boss of each mountain level. There are three levels in total and each level has different enemies you can encounter. I wanted to showcase a few of them today.

Horned Slimes

Health: 60pts
Description: The most common enemy found in the first level. Doesn’t normally hit too hard but after charging up for a turn, they strike with a powerful horn attack.

Dire Bat

Health: 30pts
Description: While low on health, these enemies pack a punch. They hit harder than Horned Slimes and can inflict the Weakness status effect which lowers your attack power for a few turns. Best to defeat them quickly.

Exciting News!

I’m here to announce that I have partnered with the publisher Pretty Soon! They will be helping me with marketing, QA, and localization, all things I struggle to do on my own.

Don't worry, we agreed that I will keep full creative control of Pine Lily Village. With their help, I’ll be able to focus my energy towards making the game itself. 😊

You can check them out here: Pretty Soon
