[p]Ahead of Play vs Devs on Friday afternoon, we are releasing our latest update for Speedball.[/p][p]With a fresh new look, and a host of new changes and features, it's time to get stuck back into the arena and become Speedball champion once again.[/p][p]Here are a few highlights of what's new:[/p][h2]Invite a friend[/h2][p]Starting in this update, you can now invite a Steam friend to play against in Speedball.[/p][p]Choose from a selection of pre-made teams, select your arena and you're ready to go![/p][h2]Custom game rules[/h2][p]If you want to have a longer match with a friend or vs the CPU. You can now customise the match![/p][p]Boost the time to a lengthy 15 minutes, or increase the damage taking to a whopping 400%, and play the most brutal game of Speedball yet![/p][p][/p][p][/p][h2]New Arenas[/h2][p]We have so many new arenas in this update, filling out the league mode roster with each team having their own arena with unique styles.[/p][h2]Team Traits[/h2][p]Teams in League mode and quickplay now have a trait to assist them in home arena games. Is there a team you have yet to try? Maybe give Rage 2000 a season with their increased damage on tackles![/p][p][/p][h3]Full additions and changes:[/h3]

  • [p]These arenas now have a "Brutal" version, with all the hazards still included, for maximum injury opportunities![/p]
• [p]Added Speedball Stadium[/p]
  • [p]This new arena layout some dedicated fans may recognise from Speedball 2.[/p]
• [p]Added the Practice Stadium[/p]
  • [p]This arena is Speedball at it's simplest, just two teams, two goals and a ball![/p]

[p] The next update for Speedball is right around the corner, it's jam packed full of visual changes, new content and more! To make sure our players get the most of every part of this update, we are hosting a Play vs Developers event on our Discord.[/p][p] [/p][p]Play the game between 3pm and 5pm BST next Friday (12th of September) and you will be queuing up against our dedicated developers. With a variety of skill level in the team you will be sure to have some fearsome matches in the arenas, Some come, test your mettle against the developers and show us your skills![/p][p][/p][p]There is not long to wait for our next content update in Speedball. Here are a few new features and improvements coming in the next update.[/p][p] [/p][h3]New Arenas and Dangers[/h3][p]A taste of dirt, and a little bit more, that's all we can say for now...[/p][p][/p][h3]Online VS and Quickplay[/h3][p]Have you been wanting to play against a friend or change up the rules of the game?[/p][p]You can now invite your friends with Speedball to play with you online via Steam! Choose your teams, the arena you want to play in and then customise the rules of the game to your liking to see who is the true Speedball champion of your friend group!
[/p][h3]Menu and Style update[/h3][p]We've added a new layer of visual polish to our menus! The main menu now brings you straight into the world of Speedball![/p][p][/p][p]There is plenty more coming with the update including changes to league mode, AI and difficulty tweaks to help you find the level of brutality you're looking for in the arena![/p][p] [/p][h2]Feedback focus[/h2][p]After the next update, we will be looking at our community for your valuable input. Not only will we be keeping a keen eye on both the Steam forums and our Discord feedback space, but we will also be releasing a survey to get your feelings and thoughts on the latest gameplay changes and additions. In Speedball’s League Mode, 10 teams compete over a season to be crowned champions. To take your team of rookies to the top, you will need to grow a squad of up to 18 all-stars, and manage who you play, bench or rest for each game. Effectively rotating your players throughout the season will be key to managing the fatigue of your players and preventing injuries.

Pick your best team using each player’s set of unique stats (including shot power, speed, durability etc) and traits (such as pyromaniac, rioter, star shooter and pitcher). You will need to draft in new players throughout the season to bolster your ranks and replace your losses – remember, there are no-holds barred in the arena!

Since Speedball released in October 2024 into Early Access, we have:

• Introduced 6 new arenas
  
• Added many new game changing chaotic arena hazards
  
• Celebrated the Festive Free-For-All
  
• Brought in new customisable armours and styles
  
• Increased the speed of the game thanks to community feedback
  

With regular updates we have brought more flavour, colour and danger every month and with thanks to our community, we are building on all the feedback you have provided to plan the future of Speedball.
As such, the next update is going to be a big one.

[h2]What's coming?[/h2]
Coming soon to an arena near you, we will be bringing you a brand new, much requested game mode!

In this mode you will pick your team and work your way through the Speedball League to crown yourself the Ultimate Speedball Champions!

With variable difficulty, you will see how far can go when you take it up to the hardest challenge.
As the dangers become greater in the Speedball arena, your players will become battered, bruised and will need replacing! You will recruit new players with a variety of traits to give your team the edge in this brutal blood sport.

We’re still smelting all the balls we need and constructing our most exhilarating arena yet. But once the players are warmed up, and the paint is dry, we can’t wait to share this next milestone of an update with our players!
