Colored Blocks, Fog/Sky Color and other level editor tweaks

There's been several smaller patches to add various quality of life features bug fixes to the Level Editor over the last few days, some of the most notable changes include:

  • Ability to change Fog and Sky color of the level
  • New Colored Block object can be placed, it's just a basic cube that you can change the color of. Useful for decoration or thematic levels.
  • Area Selection, by holding Left Alt (default keybind) and holding Left Click (default keybind) you will be able to draw a rectangle on screen and select all objects within it.
  • Improved help menu, more info is provided
  • Steam Workshop redirects will now open through the Steam Overlay browser instead of opening the desktop browser.
  • Q and E (default keybinds) will rotate the selected object 90 degrees
  • Goal no longer moves up and down since this could cause weird offsets sometimes
  • Undo/Redo will now change your object selection to the changed objects
  • Compress files when saving, almost halving level file size
  • Text fields will now auto select the text when focused

And many more bug fixes and stability improvements!

Online Multiplayer, Speedrun splits and more

If you thought the Level Editor update & Steam Workshop update would be the biggest one for a while you thought wrong! This is another large update that lets you play Stickit online together with your friends in a seamless manner!

The multiplayer is opt-it, so you can leave/join servers whenever you want without having to leave a level or lose any progress. Furthermore you can play custom Steam Workshop levels together with your friends as well!

And if you wonder how your friends are actually able to make the climb, you can toggle the Spectator Mode by pressing K (default keybind) and see the game through their eyes!

You're also able to communicate with your friends through an in-game chat, which will additionally notify everyone in the server when someone in it completes a run! Maybe some friendly competition is in order!

There's also a dedicated speedrunning community for Stickit, so this patch also adds Speedrun Splits for the main level. In addition, the level editor now also lets you place and define speedrun splits for your own custom levels!

There's also tons of smaller bugfixes and quality of life being introduced in this patch, too many to mention, so hop on in-game and get a feel for this fresh new version of the game!

Level Editor and Steam Workshop integration

Hello everyone!

It's been an interesting few weeks since launch, the first few dedicated players are finally reaching their they way to the top and beating the game. Although whilst there are those who really liked the difficulty of the map, there's also been a lot of people who enjoy the core sticking mechanic of the game, but are offput by the immense difficulty of the map the game was released with.

But since it's very hard for me personally to create new levels to suit each type of player, I figured I'd let players create what they want instead! With that short introduction said, let me present the biggest update Stickit has ever seen!

In-game Level Editor
An in-game Level Editor has been added to the game, it can be used to both play and create custom levels. Whilst not quite as complex as the tools used to develop the main level of the game, it provides a good starting point for those wanting to explore new kinds of levels for Stickit!

Steam Workshop integration
Creating your own levels isn't any fun if you have no one to share them with, so this update also integrates and enables the Steam Workshop. The level editor allows you to easily upload your levels for the world to see through the click of a button. And by browsing the new Steam Workshop page for Stickit you will also be able to "Subscribe" and download levels made by others!

You can find the Stickit Steam Workshop here!

And here's a Steam Guide on how you can upload levels to the Steam Workshop!

Local Best Times
Your local client will store your local best time to complete each user created level, including the main level and levels you create by yourself. Download levels from other users and see what best time you're able to achieve and share them with the creator and other users on the Steam Workshop page or the Steam Forums.

Ledge Climbing, Killzone nerf and other tweaks - Community Feedback

This patch contains a few quality of life changes and tweaks based on community feedback. If you have any ideas or suggestions for the game then please head over to the Steam Community Hub for Stickit and post them there!

  • Ledge Climbing - If you stick near enough to a ledge you will be able Jump normally, allowing you to climb up the edge if you stuck just below it.
  • Killzone (red zone) nerf - The time it takes to exit the "disabled" state that the player enters when hitting a Killzone has been reduced. Furthermore the time it takes for the mid-air dash recharge to start after hitting a Killzone has been reduced.
  • Dynamic FOV Setting - The Dynamic FOV changes that occur based on the player's speed can now be reduced or turned off entirely in the options menu.
  • Link to the subreddit /r/stickit in Mainmenu - The community created a subreddit to share skips and strategies, so I added a convenient link in the Mainmenu for other people to find it!
