All Quiet Roads - The Toronto Update (v5.00)

[p][/p][p]Welcome to Toronto! (v5.00)[/p][p]You’ve been asking for a new city, and today I am thrilled to welcome you to Toronto![/p][p]Whether you have been playing All Quiet Roads for years or are jumping in for the very first time, this is the perfect moment to play. With this update, the game now features nine distinct cities, stretching alphabetically from London all the way to Toronto.[/p][p]Every city in AQR requires a slightly different strategic approach, and Toronto is no exception. Here is what you can expect from the new map:[/p]
  • [p]Urban Sprawl: Buildings in Toronto are much more likely to spread out across the map before they eventually start stacking up in close proximity.[/p]
  • [p]Abundant Early Infrastructure: Because of the wide sprawl, you will have a lot of road tiles to play with in the early game to keep things connected.[/p]
  • [p]Favorable Conversions: The exchange rate in Toronto is incredibly fair. If you find yourself with a surplus of early roads, converting them into other necessary inventory is highly viable.[/p]
[p]I truly appreciate the players who have stuck around waiting for another update. I am incredibly passionate about AQR, and bringing this city to life has been a lot of fun.[/p][p]Jump in, build some routes, and let me know your feedback in the discussions![/p][p][/p]
[p]Minor Technical Changes in v5.00:[/p]
  • [p]Leaderboards: I've overhauled the backend leaderboard system to accommodate the new engine and scoring. For a detailed breakdown of how old vs. new leaderboards are being handled, check out this discussion thread.[/p]

Hello Friends

[p][/p][p]Hi everyone,[/p][p]I wanted to post a brief update after being quiet for a long time.[/p][p]A few years ago, shortly after All Quiet Roads launched, I stepped away from active development. I took a job in Big Tech and spent the last few years working on some genuinely fascinating problems, including putting AI onto avatars in the metaverse. I loved the work, learned a lot, and don’t regret that chapter at all.[/p][p]Recently, that role ended due to a change in company direction, and that’s okay. It has given me the space to return to my own work, including this game.[/p][p]First, an apology. I know I left All Quiet Roads without much communication, and that’s on me. Life moved fast, and the combination of time zones, deadlines, and a very demanding job made it hard to keep momentum here. Thank you to everyone who stuck around anyway.[/p][p]Here’s what to expect next:[/p]
  • [p]In the near term, I have an additional city for All Quiet Roads that was already well underway when I paused development. I plan to finish that work and release it. Expect an announcement about that sometime in the next couple of months.[/p]
  • [p]Longer term, once my feet are fully back on the ground, I’ll begin work on a new game. I’m still exploring ideas, so I don’t want to promise details yet. Just that something new is coming, and I’ll talk about it when it’s real.[/p]
[p]I appreciate everyone who has spent time with All Quiet Roads over the years. More soon.[/p]

A recent situation between the makers of Mini Metro and Mini Motorways has been resolved amicably.

Version 4.01

Changes for turn based mode beta. Consult AQR Discord server for details.

Version 4.00 - The Fourth Star Achievement

The new achievement signaling that you are a Champion of the city triggers at AQR 14229. If you already have that score on the leaderboard you might automatically be granted the achievement.

Some world cultures do not like the number four. Some do not like thirteen. Other numbers hold superstitions to other people. Those who do not like the number four will want to exit their games before achieving the AQR score of 14229.
