Community Update: Tabletop Fest & Minor Update Out Now!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to jump on here and let you know that the newest update is now live, and there's new cards and mechanics to play with. 🏴‍☠️ Check the patch notes here

Secondly, we're part of Digital Tabletop Fest 4: Roll of the Dice! This Steam festival showcases loads of awesome tabletop-themed games, including These Doomed Isles.



From now until March 11th, there's heaps of games to discover, as well as discounts and panels. Check out the event here.

[h3]Thanks for playing the prologue![/h3]

Finally, I'd like to let you know that we'll be saying farewell to the prologue next month. Thanks so much to everyone who has played, your feedback has been incredibly helpful with shaping our game. So much has changed and improved since the prologue went live and development time is focused on the next big update, so we're taking it down from Steam as we feel it doesn't really reflect the main game anymore.



More exciting additions are coming to These Doomed Isles very soon, and I can't wait to share more with you.

Patch 0.1.105

Hey, there's some big changes and fixes in this patch - which is why it's been a little longer than planned! Here are the changes:

[h2]New cards[/h2]
  1. Protection - for all Gods; prevent damage to friendly units in range until the start of your next turn
  2. Ley Lines - for Cernunnos; each card you play until the end of the turn generates a gravity card in your discard pile
  3. Re-arm - for Cernunnos and Plutus; Towers in range gain +1 damage per attack
  4. Weaponsmith - for Cernunnos and Plutus; Re-arm applies an additional +1 damage to the attack of each tower in its range for each Weaponsmith on your island

[h2]Balance changes[/h2]
  1. The Manoeuvres card has been removed from the game
  2. You can now click to select any Unit and click the ‘Reposition’ option to move them to any free tile on your island (have added a pop-up to the unit cards for anyone who doesn’t read the patch notes!)
  3. Hoplites now attack all enemies within a 5x5 range for 2 damage each (until buffed)
  4. Greek Warriors now attack all adjacent enemies for 5 damage each (until buffed)
  5. The rate at which you gain followers in Spring has been updated:
  6. At 90%+ you gain 1 new follower for every 2 followers
  7. At 75%+ you gain 1 for every 3 followers
  8. At 60%+ you gain 1 for every 4 followers
  9. At 45%+ you gain 1 for every 5 followers
  10. Lower than this you will not gain followers, and will begin to lose them if you have less than 25% happiness
  11. The number of followers that starve now increases each turn that they can’t be fed, so the first turn that you can’t feed them you will lose 1 follower, then 2, then 3, 4 etc. This resets as soon as you are able to feed them again
  12. Added ‘overcrowding’ as a mechanic - depending on the ascension level you will lose happiness per turn based on your number of followers, starting at ascension level 3
  13. You will no longer have to defeat a boss at the end of your run on ascensions 1-4
  14. 5 new ascension levels have been added for increased difficulty

[h2]Quality of life[/h2]
  1. In Horde Mode, the Reinforcements menu can no longer be closed with the right mouse button
  2. All units that attack multiple enemies with a melee attack (Hoplite, Greek Warrior and Mayan Axe Warrior) now do a new attack animation to show multiple attacks
  3. You can now disable the opening cinematic in the options menu

[h2]Bug fixes[/h2]
  1. Fixed crash from clicking the plus or minus button in the market screen, just as the screen is closing
  2. Fixed rare crash when multiple enemies target the same unit and it dies before they all have chance to attack
  3. Farms would often lose stockpiled food when saving and loading the game. This has now been fixed
  4. When using reinforce on farms, it will reinforce all tiles of that farm equally, instead of multiplying by the number of tiles covered by the object
  5. Killing a boss with Curse by playing Delve will no longer prevent the victory screen from launching
  6. Playing Battlefield Tactics will no longer cause Grey Ones to inflict 600 Curse on enemies in range
  7. When running in fullscreen, GameMaker can lose focus when another program triggers a notification. This causes the game window to go tiny and sometimes offscreen. As a workaround, the game will now use a fullscreen borderless window as default and will, on the first load after this patch, revert to that setting (unless you are currently set to launch in windowed mode). You can set this back to standard fullscreen in the visuals options if that is your preference.

Community Update: New cards & more!

Thanks for your continued support and feedback, it has been incredibly helpful. While we're working on a much bigger update (and a brand new god - coming soon!), I just wanted to let you know about some smaller additions we're making to These Doomed Isles. 🏝️
This mini update is coming next week, and includes:

[h3]You can now reposition your units! [/h3]
This is something I'm really excited to share - you can now pick up and move your units on your island. No longer are your mercenaries tied down to one area, meaning when you're under attack you can easily scurry them towards the enemies. ⚔️


[h3]Follower growth has changed [/h3]
The rate at which you gain followers in Spring has been updated: At 90%+ you gain 1 new follower for every 2 followers
At 75%+ you gain 1 for every 3 followers
At 60%+ you gain 1 for every 4 followers
At 45%+ you gain 1 for every 5 followers
Lower than this you will not gain followers, and will begin to lose them if you have less than 25% happiness.

'Overcrowding' has been added as a mechanic - depending on the ascension level you will lose happiness per turn based on your number of followers, starting at ascension level 3.

[h3]Play with new cards[/h3]
There's four new cards for you to try out:

Just an update to replace Krampus Chaos with a non-festive Horde Mode

Community Update: Hello 2024!

Happy New Year, everyone! 🎆

Hope you all enjoyed the holidays. I just wanted to jump on here and give you a couple small updates on These Doomed Isles:

  • The Jolly Onslaught update will be taken down on the 11th January at 2pm GMT. If you haven't defended your island against Santa Claws and his army of naughty elves, then now's your chance!
  • Thanks to all your feedback on the game so far, we are going to be rejigging our roadmap slightly to make the game even better. We'll be able to share more in the near future but I wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who has continued to play and share their thoughts with us, your input has been super helpful!
  • However, exciting updates are on the horizon and as per the original roadmap...


[h2]A brand new god is coming![/h2]



We're working hard on the newest god, and we can't wait for you to be able to play as them. This new god will also introduce new cards, aesthetics, and a whole new playstyle. All will be unveiled very soon, so watch this space for more announcements!
