The Awakened One Arrives!

[p]Thanks to the efforts of new community contributors - primarily Blue Guy - Downfall returns to the scene with a brand-new playable boss! The Awakened One arrives, with a full suite of custom card art from our amazing art team!
[/p][p]Play as the leader of the Cult of Mazaleth itself - a powerful spellcaster in a former life, turned into an avatar of dark magics through a ritual of sacrifice. Awakened One’s mechanics include:[/p][p][/p][p]Conjure - Draw powerful Spell cards from your Spellbook and unleash them on your enemies.[/p][p]Power cards - Play tons of Power cards to activate Chant effects on your cards to make them stronger for the rest of the fight. If you play enough Powers, you enter your second phase, empowering all of your Conjured spells![/p][p]Voids - Turn the negative of losing energy into a potent but highly risky upside. This archetype is high risk, high reward but allows for a lot of strategy to evade the downsides of losing energy entirely or even turning it into a pure positive given enough support and effort.[/p][p][/p][p]The Awakened One also represents a new general target of balance for Downfall characters. Much like the original cast of characters, playing the Awakened One successfully requires experience and understanding of mechanics. We have had a history of releasing characters a little too strong and then have needed to backpedal in post-launch updates, and we’re trying to avoid that going forward. The Awakened One has been in testing and has had more runs than any character we’ve ever made, and we’re confident that it is reasonably close to the “core 3” (Ironclad / Silent / Defect) in terms of power. Success is most definitely possible, as we have A20 Awakened One streaks on record, but does not come without understanding how the draft comes together and how to shore up any weaknesses you encounter.

Downfall Major Update Beta In Progress

[p]Hello all! There's a new Beta in the works for an upcoming Major update which includes the next character coming to Downfall - the Awakened One. The character is still undergoing art, tuning, and gameplay iterations, but we welcome all to join our Discord https://discord.gg/tFy4Cdts6M and head to the awakened-one-beta channel. Testing in Beta does require using Steam Workshop (meaning launching original Slay the Spire and using the mod support system), but we still wanted to invite the Steam standalone players to join in the beta.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

Downfall 5.3 Update, ft. Snecko Rework, now Live!

Downfall 5.3, featuring the Snecko Revisit, has been released on both Workshop and Steam Standalone! Full Patch Notes here:

This update is fostered primarily by community member Blue Guy, and features:

  • Complete top-down rework to Snecko, all new mechanics and cards
  • Balance & Tuning for all characters
  • Adjustments to some character bosses
  • Changes to Champ's Counter mechanic
  • Changes to Guardians' Defensive Mode mechanic
  • Changes & many new additions to Boss Cards system

Fixed Russian localization not functioning in the new update

Silent 1's Poison now triggers after Ethereal (and more importantly, after Afterlife effects)

Fixed a potential crash in the new Watcher 2 fight

Fixed a text issue with Silent 1's Poison

Added some new beta arts

Extra Crispy buffed to 10(14) Soulburn

Buffed Second Seal to 18 (from 15) Gold

Fixed an issue with the Soul Stone relic

Neow's God of Life power can no longer go negative.

Consult Playbook now states the updated cards amount of 3 (instead of saying 4 still)
