Buck or Buckshot Patch Notes
Good evening, survivors. Marvin here.
The major update, "Buck or Buckshot," was released a few days ago, bringing multiple new user experiences to the Friday nights. I'd like to provide a more detailed account of the changes and additions included in this update.
New Enemy: Saltwater Crocodiles
Our main designer, AJ, added these creatures. Initially, we had planned to introduce criminals like gangsters or thugs, but AJ wanted to expedite the update. To do this, we recycled some legacy graphic resources from our debut, Flaming Friday Night.
At first, I was opposed to the idea, "Crocodiles in the Northwestern United States? In winter? That doesn't seem appropriate." AJ replied, "This is America, so it makes sense." In the end, I was persuaded.
Anyway, once you get and read the crocodile hunting guide book, you'll be able to escape when bitten by them, except when your HP is gone. Their bite damage is deadly, so do your best to avoid getting bitten.
Debuff and Buffs: Frost, Bonfire, Pizza
Yeah, Rose and Pandu bolted out of the bloody house wearing nothing but the party costumes, so they must be freezing.
The frost in the wilderness continually damages you survivors and slows you down when your Frost Resistance isn't high enough.
To deal with this, grab some pizza slices and warm up by the bonfire to boost your Frost Resistance.
Of course, other methods to increase it will be added later.
Level and Status System Now Displayed and Available
Actually, these values have already existed since FFN EVE released. Just the Santa's lovely axe is really deadly, and Rose's HP couldn't cover it. Still can't, though.
That's right, we released Frozen Friday Night: The Eve as a Horror Action Noir Western RPG, not a casual simple game. That's why we're still constructing the night.
Then, we finally added the Seasprinkle University Student ID Card to display survivor's data.
💪 Agility
It affects increasing Evade Chance.
Agility will affect reducing cooldown of dash, and others in the future.
💪 Intelligence
It influences the amount of XP gained.
Survivor can increase Intelligence through reading most books.
Intelligence will provide additional benefits for survivors in the future, especially for Pandu.
💪 Concentration
It affects increasing Accuracy and Deadly Hit.
Concentration will provide additional benefit for survivors in the future.
💪 Endurance
It affects increasing HP, Speed, and Sanity.
💪 Speed
An essential attribute in the scary game.
💪 Strength
It affects increasing melee weapon damage.
💪 Sanity
When you encounter an enemy with an overwhelming level difference, the body may freeze if Sanity is low. That means we'll add the first raid boss battle soon.
💪 Luck
It affects increasing Accuracy, Deadly Hit and Evade Chance.
And Luck also affects the chance to obtain more currency or ammo from wooden crates and to discover a four-leaf clover!
You can increase Luck whenever you discover four-leaf clovers.
💪 Armor
Armor reduces damage taken. Lower Armor value reduces more damage.
💪 Frost Resistance
An essential attribute when you're exploring Whispering Sunrise Forest and when you don't want to die by heart attack while drinking like a fish in holiday seasons.
💪 Accuracy
Higher Accuracy means fewer missed attacks.
💪 Evade Chance
Higher Evade Chance means you're more likely to evade enemy attacks when you're hit.
💪 Killing Power
It affects increasing survivor's damage output.
💪 Deadly Power
It's Critical Damage.
💪 Deadly Hit
It's Critical Hit.
💪 Cruelty
It affects increasing Deadly Power.
💪 Notoriety
We'll explain about Notoriety later.
🔥 Level and XP
You'll gain XP whenever you defeat crocodiles or the Santa Mask Suit in nightmares, which will increase your level.
🔥 Level Up Benefits
1. Restores HP to full.
2. Increases HP slightly.
3. Increases Concentration slightly.
4. Increases Sanity slightly.
5. (If survivor is armed with a firearm) Increases Agility slightly.
6. (If survivor is armed with a melee weapon) Increases Strength slightly.
Survivors will also be able to increase Agility, Strength, and most other stats not only through leveling up but also through other means in the future.
The maximum level you can currently reach is 5.
Evasion (Miss) System
Survivor and enemies now have a chance to evade when they're hit. If evasion is successful, the Miss visual effects will be shown.
Ways to Restore HP
🍕 Sleeping
It's free and provides fast restoration, but you have to say hello to the Santa Mask Suit in the nightmare.
🍕 Bonfire
It's free and offers slower restoration than sleeping, but also provides the buff that increases your Frost Resistance after waiting a few seconds.
🍕 Leveling Up
It's free, but you need to gain XP.
🍕 Pizzas
Requires payment. Increases Frost Resistance as well.
🍕 First Aid Kit
Requires payment or can be found randomly in wooden crates in the woods.
Ways to Save Data
The data is saved when you move to another place, sleep, press the ESC key, or die.
Ways to Get Money
Apologies, we intended to add looting content from crocodiles and minor quests in this update. Unfortunately, we didn't!
For now, you can loot dollars only from dead gangsters and wooden crates. Still then, someone may have lost a modest amount of money for the Whispering Sunrise Forest explorer beginners.
Mute Function for BGM and SFX
We need it when recording videos for trailers.
Survivors will use it when you'd like to listen to old jazz, EDM, rock, classic, and other genres of music while hunting crocodiles.
You can also mute it when you're just doing other tasks on the internet, leaving Rose to stand in front of the bonfire, which can increase your playtime. This may help expose Frozen Friday Night: The Eve on Steam more frequently. Appreciate it in advance!
To mute BGM and SFX, simply press the ] or [ key.
Perks
We added perks for our crocodile hunters. By hunting crocodiles multiple times, you'll unlock more beneficial perks. I felt it's really easy to slain these beasts once I became crocodile hunter professional. But it's not essential tasks, so don't feel burden to earn all perks.
