Features Buffet vol. 3 - Exploring Clark's Valley! šŸšššŸ—ŗļø

Hallo, Emperors! šŸ‘‹

Last time around for Features Buffet we went through equipment inside the food truck needed for building your empire in the SPCU order. Now, itā€™s time to explore the first city at your disposal - the quaint Boulderville! Your food matters a lot, sure, but without knowing your surroundings, you will be running around like a headless chicken. Donā€™t worry - weā€™re here to help you!

The first available place for you is the Bouldervilleā€™s East District called Clarkā€™s Valley. You will be able to progress through the game and build outposts to expand your influence, but you have to start somewhere. Clarkā€™s Valley may look tame and quiet at first, especially in comparison to the bustling West District, but it has a lot of lively landmarks with hungry customers. We will be going through each of the districts to show you what type of people spend time there and how to best utilize it in your business expansion.

Itā€™s only fitting to start our journey through the town with the Boulderville Train Station. This is the main hub of transportation in the city, so obviously you can find a lot of Tourists coming in and usual residents leaving for trips and vacations, Normies in particular. This is a perfect opportunity to serve great food to people about to start or end their journey. Of course, in such a spot, timely service matters much more than the quality, so you have to adapt your mobile kitchen accordingly.

We move on to the place where most of the Tourists stay to enjoy the serene atmosphere of Boulderville, so the Quiet Cove Tourist Lodges and their surroundings. Some places of note here are the surrounding shops and the smaller basketball court. Tourists are usually up and about exploring the city and the landscapes around, but when it comes to breakfasts and late dinners - you must be prepared to provide them with such food that they will forget food delivery exists.

Serving food to Tourists is fun, especially since you can experiment a lot, but you cannot rely fully on them for steady profit, as they only visit for some time. You will have to, sooner or later, also cater to the usual residents of the city, them being Elders, Hipsters, Bluecollars, Kids, Teenagers and of course Normies. In the many Housing Districts around Boulderville you can find different groups of customers depending not only the location itself but also time of day, so be sure to adapt accordingly! Some Villas can be found around the premises as well, so you can maybe try to cater to a more ā€˜ā€™expensiveā€™ā€™ crowd.

Every respected city needs to have a school. In the Clarkā€™s Valley, you can find the Boulderville Primary School with the adjoined facilities such as a Swimming Pool and a sport Court. Obviously, the customers you want to target the most is Kids with their Normies parents as a close second. One thing to note is that no kid will be seen here after school, so thereā€™s no point leaving your truck in there for the evening unless there is an event happening at the Court or Swimming Pool. Otherwise, that would be kind of weirdā€¦

You know now where different people live, but where do they spend their work and free time? Well, Main Street is one of the most popular destinations for locals, so itā€™s less about finding the right people and more about the right time. In the morning, you will usually meet either Normies running errands and commuting to work with or Elders. The afternoon, when the majority of locals work, is a perfect time for Tourists to explore the city and try some local cuisine, but also for Teenagers starting to leave school for the day. The evening there is usually for Hipsters, because you knowā€¦ hipsters.

Clark's Valley wouldnā€™t be complete without a Cafe! Loved by everyone, but especially Tourists, Normies and Elders, the Whispering Willow Cafe is a perfect place for you to set up your truck and maybe grill some burgers nearby. By choosing an already established business site, you ensure that at least some people will show up, making it a pretty safe option for a first spot. Who wouldnā€™t want a freshly prepared cheap bite with their morning coffee or tea?

Some lots in Food Truck Empire are not the most visited for the time being, such as Calm Forest. It may happen that in your playthrough, these may transform later to other environments as time passes but also can be hubs for special events. Nevertheless, some people appreciate the quaint nature of places like that, so you can find some hungry customers there for sure in your downtime.

Serenity Sawmill is the usual place of work for the Bluecollars in Clarkā€™s Valley , so you will have to mostly cater to their needs and also adapt to their schedules. When they go to work, when they start they break, when they leave - you have to be there to provide if you want your food truck business to prosper. Also, there is a Parking Lot nearby with the possibility of other customers appearing throughout the day, so prepare accordingly.
We hope this little guide to Clarkā€™s Valley in Boulderville will help you once you will be able to play through the first few hours of Food Truck Empire!
Features Buffet vol. 2 - The SPCU of the Truck šŸ”šŸ”¤

Guten tag, Emperors! šŸ‘‹

For this Features Buffet, we have decided to look closer at the trucks in Food Truck Empire Early Access.
We are going inside those trucks to be more precise.
Every mobile kitchen needs proper equipment and good work organization to prosper, so we are here to help you with the SPCU! šŸ¤“

__________________________________________________________________

Today, we want to explain each and every piece of furniture that can be put inside the truck along with their technical functionalities inside your truck. Since this game will be releasing first in Early Access, we will be possibly updating the game with more dishes, so that means more equipment as well. It will vary depending on your feedback to the game as well!

We will be going category by category, piece by piece in the SPCU order (we really tried to come up with a better acronym but we failed - so SPCU it is šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø)

In the Storage category, we have all the equipment needed to wellā€¦ store the required ingredients for your particular dishes. As in real life, some produce like meat and dairy has to be kept in fridges while others are just fine on their own in cupboards and containers. By the way, is your fridge still running? If yes thenā€¦
Anyway, in Food Truck Empire for now we have:
ā Small Container ā
A wooden container used for storing products such as grains, fresh vegetables or baked goods. It may look small, but it fits A LOT.
ā Medium Container ā
The same function as the small container, just takes up 2 spaces. Buy 1, get 1 free (not really)!
ā Low fridge ā
Works very similarly to a small container, only it is used to store products that need a cold temperature, such as meats, cheeses and milk. Ainā€™t nothing going bad in your kitchen.
ā Tall fridge ā
Identical function to the low fridge, but T A L L E R. Can store up to 2 types of ingredients. Takes up the same amount of space despite being longer overall. Did the inventor of this tall boi just slapped 2 low fridges on top of each other and called it a day? We may never knowā€¦

Once our products and ingredients are safely stored in either containers or fridges, we can start the preparation process. Depending on your chosen dish, you may need one piece of equipment or another. No real need for a blender when you are serving Sushi. Unless you just want a blenderā€¦ itā€™s not illegal or anything, we wonā€™t call the police. Once we release the game in Early Access, we will want to add more of Preparation furniture, but in the current state we have:
ā Crumbs & Herbs Breading Station ā
If you want your customers to eat and leave no crumbs, you need to prepare your food accordingly. This station is used to make, for example, your pattiesā€™ potential go from meh to awesome in just one magic click.
ā Cut-Loose Knife Station ā
ā€¦ do we have to explain this one? You have a sharp knife, a cutting board and a great mission - to cut like thereā€™s no tomorrow. Beware of fingers - health insurance not included!
ā John Basicā€™s Workstation ā
This is your bread and butter - if you want your patties formed correctly before being put on the grill, you learn how to use this workstation. It has more uses of course, but you will have to discover them on your own. Who is John and why is he basic? Beats us.
ā Blending Processing Station ā
WHHHIIIRRRā€¦ sorry canā€™t hearā€¦ WHHIIIRRR
Ah, there, finally - a worthy kitchen utensil. No, but seriously - this piece of equipment will be useful for many things such as mashing up meat to create the best patties in the city! Again, please beware of your fingersā€¦

The most vital component of any mobile kitchen is a place to cook the food. Duh. There are many, and I mean MANY, ways you can heat up your food in Food Truck Empire, so letā€™s go through them together.
DISCLAIMER: We will be adding more equipment with Early Access and beyond, so be ready for some Pizza Ovens and Fryers along the way as well :)
ā Adventure Oven ā
Itā€™s just a microwave with extra steps, what did you expect? It can actually do a lot more - bake a fish, a bun or some vegetables? Sure thing! Donā€™t underestimate this equipment, it can save your businessā€™ life!
ā Journeyman Grill ā
A single space simple Grill that does its job. Slap on a meaty or veggie patty and itā€™s grilling time, Emperor.

Okay, your food is ready - now what? Well, you need those few extra pieces of furniture to make your truck interior truly remarkable. As in with every other category, we want to update this along with Early Access in the future by adding, for example, Fire alarms and more, but for now we have:
ā Countertops ā
Apologies, we have completely forgotten to mention countertops yet - silly us! Anything that needs to be put on a table of some sort, like an Adventure Oven or a Cut-Loose Knife Station, will require you to buy a special countertop of your choosing. There are 2 options: A and B. No, weā€™re not joking - these are the names, deal with it. A is more rustic while B has a more modern sleek. Moving onā€¦
ā Serving Counter ā
Once your food is hot and ready, then you need a way to give it to your customers. Thatā€™s where the Serving Counters come to play! You have 2 options - a single counter with a cash register or a more expensive version taking up two spaces with drinks on the side. Whatever you choose, you will be looking for spare change anyway, so donā€™t dwell too much on this.
ā Tools ā
You may want to boost your reviews a bit more or just add some spice to the interior design of the truck. Well, tools would be perfect for the job. You have plenty of options - a special Seasoning station with all the spices needed to increase the overall quality of your meals or maybe a one-armed Joe Magnetic Knife Strip for all your cutting needs. You have plenty of options, so take your time!

_________________________________________________________________

That would be all for now, Emperors. You knew your ABCs and now you know the SPCUs as well! The inside of the truck is not so difficult to understand anymore, is it?
As mentioned before, we would love to add more dishes and thus equipment later down the line in Early Access. We have a lot of ideas to implement, but we want to focus on delivering the best Early Access build first and then? Sky's the limit!

Features Buffet vol. 1 - Know the Basics šŸ”šŸ“

Hi there Emperors! šŸ‘‹

Youā€™ve probably noticed some changes around Food Truck Empireā€™s page on Steamā€¦
Thatā€™s right, we will have news about the game coming to you VERY SOON

However, we also wanted you to get a glimpse of the gameplay mechanics, so we got into the nitty-gritty of them to present you with the most important information regarding in-game mechanics!

Managing food trucks seems easy enough - there is only so much space you can manoeuvre, what can go wrong? Actually, a lot.
For you to get happy customers and great 5-star reviews, delicious food is important but not enough. Who would want to wait in a long line for a mouth-watering burger just to then wait half an hour to eat it? You need to make sure your service is fast enough for people not to get frustrated.

How to do it though? Well, first of all - the order of operations. If preparing a patty starts in one corner of the truck just to grill it in anotherā€¦ well, thatā€™s not efficient at all. You have to make sure that you are setting up your truck for success. Make it seamless to transition from one operation to another without having to run all around the space like a headless chicken. From ingredients to preparation and cooking, straight to the serving counter and hungry bellies of your customers.

Another crucial factor to keep in mind is the complexity of the dishes served. Maybe you donā€™t need every single thing under the sun in this one burger to satisfy your customers. While some clients will appreciate a hand-made, gourmet, grass-fed, free-range burger patty, others prefer just an old-fashioned grilled meat piece without the steep price tag. Optimise your pipeline by removing ingredients or steps accordingly to make the process much faster for your customers. With more ingredients and dishes, you have to take into account the frequency of possible refills to your station.

Donā€™t forget to make every step of food preparation beneficial to your business and your customers. Focus not only on the food itself but also the pipeline of production.

Alright, your production is perfectly optimized, but you are still getting bashed online? Well, then maybe your food is bad.
Harsh as it may sound, you cannot build a proper empire on premade patties and frozen vegetables. You need to listen to your customers and see if they actually like your food. In Food Truck Empire, the review score is influenced mostly by your food, but also very heavily by the particular food preferences. Kids will like different food than Hipsters do and that will affect your reviews.

Try different dishes at different places at different times and see what works best for your business.

Hunger never sleeps, so you ainā€™t got time for slacking around!
Sometimes in the wild, you may come across a quest or a bigger city event that will require you to, for example, serve a certain amount of customers or a certain type of food for some time. These quests may seem limiting at first, but they can become a blessing if done correctly.

You get rewards for completing those tasks - they vary from quest to quest, but you can get f. eg. money or fame. However, the decision to take a quest is ultimately yours. If a quest requires you to serve 10 Grilled Cheeses to Kids, is it really worth investing in a whole new truck just for that? Accepting such a city event is a kind of commitment. In those hours, you have to be in this place for a certain amount of time and have to provide for a certain group of people.

To grow your empire, you needā€¦ well, buildings. There are several options available for you in Food Truck Empire to invest in real estate that will help boost your sales or production output.
Headquarters
The most important building in the game - literally! The tutorial tells you so at least. HQ is your general hub of operations. Your empire starts here, from one humble food truck. You can not only buy parking spaces to accommodate new food trucks but also equip trucks with proper equipment. Not only that, you can develop whole faculties dedicated to specific research projects like new recipes or technologies.
Outposts
Outposts are the refill stations that also allow you to explore different districts of the town. Just imagine - you have a sweet deal to cater to workers during their lunch hour, but there is one problem. The office is at the other end of town, making it nigh impossible to keep up with the demand without refilling. Thatā€™s where Outposts come into play - build your station somewhere close to the office so you can quickly restock there and come back to your spot to bring even more profit.
Food parks
Once you get more comfortable with setting up proper routes for your food trucks and bringing enough profit, you can start creating a special place for your customers in the neighbourhood - a food park! Food doesnā€™t grow on trees there, but itā€™s still beneficial to your business. You can set up your own usual spot for up to 4 food trucks at a time, making it possible for different people to enjoy your food. It also makes it pretty convenient for you - long are the days of you chasing every single hungry customer with your truck. Now they can come to you! Once you serve enough customers, you will be able to improve and upgrade your food parks to accommodate larger crowds and more food trucks.

That would be all for now, Emperors. If you have any questions regarding this post or Food Truck Empire in general - let us know below in the comments.

Where to look for food truck festivals?

Short answer: EVERYWHERE!

Long answer: There are a lot of places worldwide where you can find fantastic food trucks to try out different kinds of street foods. But where best to look for interesting food truck events?

Best place to start is actually Malaysia. Penang International Food Festival organised in the capital is a food truck festival proudly wearing the title of the Guinness World Records largest food truck rally. In 2018 they gathered 158 food trucks from all around the country! Every year a major event is scheduled typically during the summer but there are a lot of mini festivals as well so if you ever visit Malayasia for your holidays, be sure to check them out!

Next up is the melting pot of all cultures: the USA. There are several bif food truck events organised throughout the country in all the states but the most notable ones take place in Los Angeles, Chicago, Columbus, Atlanta and Sea Isle City.

For example, the LA Street Food Fest is one of the biggest food truck festivals in the world and gathers dishes from all over the globe. Every year there are over 100 vendors present, and you can listen to live music there too!

What if you live in Australia? Then the best place for you is the Melbourne Street Eatz which rallies dozens on food trucks to the Yarra riverfront. And it lasts for a few months each time!

And if you happen to visit Europe, we can wholeheartedly recommend the Festiwal SmakĆ³w Food TruckĆ³w food truck festival in Poland, which travels all around the country and visits all major cities. There is also the European Street Food Festival which drives around Austria, and Streeat, another mobile food truck festival which currently resides in Italy.

Have you been to any of these festivals? Or do you have any other recommendations youā€™d like to share with us? Comment below!

All that talk about street food has made us hungry. See you soon!
