Early Access Update #2 - Full Patch Notes

Our November update is available now! This update brings with it matchmaking improvements, the post-match timeline, and lots of fixes.
4️⃣ 4-Player Lobbies
Based on player feedback, we have reduced the number of players required to start a match to 4. When starting a match with 4 players, various aspects of the match will be tweaked to accommodate:
  • The amount of materials required to repair the objective are reduced.
  • The amount of walkers across the map are reduced.
  • Turncoat, Negotiator, Bereaved, and Confidant roles will not be available.
  • Only 2 votes are required to exile a player.
👥 Matchmaking
We’ve heard your feedback, and we’ve introduced a new matchmaking system to make it easier for you to find and join matches of Betrayal! The lobby system has been replaced by two matchmaking modes: Solo and Party Up.

When you enter Solo Matchmaking, we’ll put you directly into a matchmaking queue. Once you've been matched with other players, your game will automatically start!

Want to just play with friends? We’ve got you covered! If you choose Party Up, you'll create a more traditional lobby that you can invite friends into via Steam or the in-game friend system. If you want a private match, you can start the game with just your friends. If you’re looking for more people to join you, your whole party can enter the matchmaking queue so other players (or parties) looking for a match can be added to your game!

Happy matchmaking!
💥 Combat
In addition to fixing some bugs around grappling and throwing weapons, we've made a handful other changes to various aspects of combat.
  • Fire now spreads to players when hit with a flaming weapon.
  • The damage values of upgraded spears, baseball bats, and swords have all been increased.
  • Players will automatically be released from a grapple after 10 seconds.
  • Stuns have been re-introduced -- When a player is a hit by a non-punch, non-critical melee attack, they will be slowed. If the hit is critical, the player will be stunned for a longer duration.
📖 Role Changes
• A Daredevil will now restore health if they make noise that attracts walkers.
negotiators take an additional 50% damage from players they've voted for.
  • A Negotiator will take an additional 50% damage from players they've voted for. Additionally, if a Negotiator votes for a Leader, that Leader will now get a 100% boost in max health and hunger.
🌙 Night Tile
We have added a night variant to our map rotation!
⏰ Timeline Post-Match Screen
We added a new post-match screen that show major game events on a timeline!
🔧 Bug Fixes
We fixed far too many bugs to list them all out, but some of the major fixes we made addressed:
  • Various fixes to walker behavior, particularly with walkers 'teleporting', having incorrect animations, and issues where multiple players could control a single walker.
  • Fixed some cosmetics that were not looking right either on players or when the player switched to a walker.
  • Fixed some performance issues where some players were experiencing FPS drops around large herds of walkers.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented thrown weapons from damaging walkers.
  • Fixed some incorrect stats of buffs related to Traitor Objectives. A complete Traitor Objective will give the traitor the correct reward.
  • Fixed an issue where if a player cooked food on a Stove with a full inventory, the item would drop and clip into the stove, making it stuck and unable to pick up.
  • There were a handful of areas in the map where players could fall into or clip into and get stuck; we have fixed all known instances of it.
  • Added a keybind in Settings for Slot 6 (which is unlocked when you craft Improvised Pockets) as this was missing previously.
