Born in 1965 in Cracow (Poland), Jacek Piekara is one of the most established Polish fantasy authors. He debuted in 1984 with his short story Wszystkie twarze szatana published in the monthly fantasy magazine Fantastyka. His first book, Labirynt, was published in 1987, but Jacek Piekara is mostly recognized for creating two fictional characters that he introduced in his books – the mage Arivald and Mordimer Madderdin, the inquisitor.



The Inquisitorial cycle is one of the most popular Polish fantasy series. It consists of almost 50 stories, published in 15 books in total. Many of the later volumes are a kind of "prequels" that take place before or between the events of the previous parts, but given the episodic nature of Mordimer's adventures, this is not the slightest hindrance to the reader.



Jacek Piekara is very involved in making “I, the Inquisitor”. He is accompanying us on our quest to deliver the kind of game that would do justice to his work and the readers of the Inquisitor Saga. He is testing every build that we produce and gives regular feedback. Jacek Piekara also wrote several storylines that are included in the game.

This is not the first time Jacek Piekara has teamed up with a game developer, as he was a scriptwriter on the 1998 point-and-click adventure game The Prince and The Coward that featured the mage Arivald. Writing under the alias Randall, Jacek Piekara was also an editor in several highly popular gaming magazines throughout his career.
