Plan B: Terraform News

Plan B: Terraform at Paris Games Week (November 1-5)

The game will be presented at the Paris Games Week (a video games festival in Paris, France) from November 1 to 5, so if you happen to be in the area, please come and say hello! It will be in the "Games made in France" area. More info here.

We've now completed what was planned for the v0.7 update (it's all in the beta branch, which you can activate from the game's steam properties), the dam pumps being the last addition. At last, you can (try to) get rid of all that water...

But in order to enjoy a steam daily deal we have postponed it to November 6th (with a -20% discount, before the game price rises to $12). So we are now working on other features to be added in this v0.7 update.

Team

After a few weeks of vacations, i'm now back to work on the v0.7 - to be released early October. Feel free to help test it by activating the beta branch, to test the depots priority system for example.

But for now, i wanted to take a few moment to introduce the people who worked with me on the game.

- Marion (artstation) did pretty much all the art for the game ! All 3D models come from her.
I was able to hire her for two years, thanks to the success of my previous game Dig or Die, and a french aid fund (FAJV from CNC).
When you've been a solo dev for years - unable to do make decent art yourself - working with someone who can make your vision of a game a reality, who can transform what you had in your head, into a real, living 3D world... it's such an incredible feeling!
And very good news, thanks to the success of Plan B Early Access, she's back this week for one more year! So she'll be able to add more models to the game, like more variations in the city, or the new items planned for the v0.9.

- Camille (soundcloud) composed all the musics for the game. Game music is something incredibly important to me, and i'm very picky in the music choices and quality. So I think I was so lucky to be able to work with Camille. I instantly loved some of the musics she'd done before, and i knew it would fit very well with the game. And i'm so happy with the result - i hope you are too! The musics really adds something to the game.
And as for Marion, thanks to Plan B success, she has started working on additional musics for the
game!

- Romain worked as an intern for a few months, helping me on the programming of the game. And teaching me modesty when taking some breaks on https://code.golf/ or https://www.codingame.com/ ;-)
And he too is back this week to work on the updates!

That's it for this little news. Thanks again for your support. The next news should be the V0.7 update, early october. As explained in the roadmap, I'll set a small discount for the occasion, and then the price will rise from $10 to $12.

-15% for Tiny Teams 2023 ; and dev progress news

Plan B: Terraform has been selected for the Tiny Teams Festival, with a discount of -15% for the occasion!

Tiny Teams regroups a lot of great games developed by... tiny teams ; and livestreamed by Yogscast during the next few days: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/tinyteamsfestival2023

I also increased (permanently) the discount of the bundle of my two games (Plan B + Dig or Die) to -10%.

Now about the game dev progress : as explained in my previous roadmap news, I'm now working on the v0.7 update.
New languages, world generation options (including infinite minerals), and a performance increase in late game are done and playable on the beta branch.
Depots priority system is in progress - you can follow it on discord. It should be very useful to make drones movements much more useful (move the containers toward where they are needed) and let you easily prioritize recycing over new production.

And as planned, i'm going to take a few weeks vacations. I'll be back to work on september to complete the v0.7 (planned for early october), and Marion and Romain will be back on the team to work on those updates :-)

Roadmap

Hi everyone!

Here is the detail of the timeline of all planned updates during the Early Access period. Of course it's only a projection, so it could change, but it's what i wish to bring to the game. As a remark, those list contains only the most important changes, there will be other minor or unplanned changes in each updates.

Same as for my previous game Dig or Die, the price will rise with each major update until the release. This way you "pay only for what is already done", no promises, and all future updates are free bonus. I'll increase the price after a week of discount (probably -20%) for the update's release.

I'm sorry for the lack of updates (especially in Beta) recently, as I have had to do some heavy refactoring to prepare the new updates, which will be all regrouped in a big v0.7 release instead of multiple minor ones. And it should not improve much before september as i'll take a few weeks of vacations in August (sorry!).
v0.6.4 - Early Access Release - 2023-02-15 - $10

v0.6.x - completed on 2023-06-02
This first series of updates were the most urgent fixes and improvements. Most notable changes:
- lines creation and vehicles UI rework

- autormatic vehicles rerouting
- production limit
- building & duplicating UI improvements
v0.7 - Early october 2023 - price up to $12 (edit: 2023-11-06)
v0.7 will bring the other (and bigger) most requested gameplay improvements:
- terrain generation option (infinite minerals)
- dam pumps walls
- graphic options
- depots automatic priority
- achievements
- more languages (already in Beta): Ukrainian, Polish, Turkish, Thai, Italian, Czech.

We'll also try to include as many of those other updates as possible, otherwise they should be in v0.7.x minor updates:
- shortcuts for cities & landmark towers
- better tooltips
- warnings icons
- avoiding destruction of containers when removing depots
v0.8 - Q4 2023 or Q1 2024 - price up to $14 (edit: 2024-06-27)
- better oceans and mountains generation
- additional musics (and soundtrack sold in steam)
- more 3D models (cities buildings, etc.)
v0.9 - Q2 or Q3 2024 - price up to $16 (edit: Q1 2025 ?)
This one is the biggest update, with the content I really want to add to the game, especially for the mid and end game, to make the objectives much more interesting and diverse:
- story, with lot of specific items & objectives. Some surprises :-)
- more 3D models
v1.0 - RELEASE - Q2 to Q4 2024 (edit: Q2 2025 ?)
This v1.0 will basically be the v0.9 after it's well tested and polished, ready for the final release!
- additional musics
- new launch trailer

Plan B - v0.6.9 build 701 (hotfix : build 702, 703)

Sorry for the long wait, here is the update! Production limit (click on the items quantity counter to set it) to very easily prevent useless resources consumption ; and a major performances increase on the depots. If you like building hundreds of depots, you probably saw that created a major framerate drop - it should be much better now!

Also, you now need to press Shift to overwrite a building by building over it, to avoid deleting some by mistake. Same when you want to delete a line full of vehicles. And finally, you can now rename your cities.

This was the last of the v0.6.x updates, now starting to work on v0.7.0 with very . Complete roadmap until the release is about ready and I'll detail it on the next news.
