It meant breathing life into a miserable world based on historical fiction. The careful balance of creativity and accuracy. The art needed to carry the weight of the world falling apart, the humanity of characters fighting impossible odds, and the brutal beauty of a land consumed by plague and violence. [/p][p][/p][h3]Aeta: The Rebel Noble[/h3][p][/p]

[p]"For her outfit we aimed to create a “travelling knight”. The red cape was there from the start, as well as the armour parts — which were then reduced to make her feel more agile. We then focused on what she would carry on her back, which to us was fundamental to convey the fact that she was on a long journey. We started with backpacks but quickly realised that they occluded the cape and felt clunky in combat. This led us to a smaller bag with accessories hanging on it."[/p]

[p][/p][h3]Bianca: Strength in Contrast[/h3][p][/p]

[p]"When we first meet Bianca in our story she is on her path to join a convent, so we mixed elements of commoners clothing with the classic nun dress.[/p][p]For Bianca’s looks we wanted something opposite of Aeta, so we naturally gravitated towards lighter hair, eyes, and softer facial traits."[/p]

[p]Ash drifts down as smoke from distant pyres stains the morning sky. Church bells toll through abandoned streets, their heavy notes echoing a world in turmoil.[/p][p]In 1348, life is tough. The plague spreads across the countryside, bandits roam the roads, and surviving takes more than just strength. At the center of our story are two people whose lives become tangled: Aeta and Bianca.[/p][p][/p][p]Aeta is the only child of a noble family, raised with tales of chivalry and honor. Unlike many in her position, she refuses to accept a fate limited by gender or birthright. With her father's support, she learns swordsmanship and dreams of becoming a knight, driven by a strong desire to help those in need. Born into poverty, she has worked as a servant at Aeta's castle since she was a child. While Aeta learned from books and training grounds, Bianca's education came from the streets and the tough realities of survival. Street-smart, quick-witted, and resourceful, she has a sharp intelligence that helps her read people and situations with ease. Though life taught her to expect little, meeting the lord's daughter changed everything.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Despite the huge gap between their social ranks, Aeta treated Bianca as an equal from the moment they met, showing her a respect that nobles rarely gave to servants. [/p][p]What started in the halls of that South Italian castle grew into something deep: a bond that neither social class nor the chaos of their plague-ravaged world could break.

But this connection is fragile and deeply human. Their bond will be tested when violence strikes close to home and Bianca vanishes from Aeta's life without warning. In a world full of fanatical zealots, ruthless bandits, and deadly plague, Aeta must become the knight she’s always dreamed of, not for glory or honor, but for the one person who means everything to her.
