Patch Notes v0.1.31 - A new Event for you!

We're back with some cool new stuff for you all!

Features

[h2]New Event: Healing Shrine[/h2]
The Zone has heard your request, and it might offer those courageous enough a chance of recuperating themselves. Are you bold enough to partake in The Zone's benefactions?

Changes

Readjusted cadence of Event Spawns
Increased Wisp Enemy model size
Adjusted Wisp flying height
Optimized the game during times when there are A LOT of enemies spawned

Bugfixes

Fixed a bug where players weren't receiving Pebbles after the match was over
Fixed a bug where the Objectives UI would break during the last Little Mac fight

Director's Commentary

This was a smaller update, but don't worry! We're working on some cool stuff! ๐Ÿ™‚ You've all already seen sneak peeks of the new Boss, new Map and more Playable characters but we do have some new gameplay mechanics coming ๐Ÿ˜„

WOAH, that is a BOLD title!
But yes, it is our biggest update yet.

Since the last time we came out of our caves, we've been hard at work reworking many systems from scratch to deliver some significant changes to how the game is fundamentally played.
This has resulted in a massive update with a lot of new content, but more importantly, the Game's main objective has changed, and that will have a lot of ripple effects going forward!

Now instead of surviving for 10 minutes, the game is now about completing objectives! There's also a completely new Game Mechanic: Devices, which are cool throwables that have different effects.
That's not all: during the match, you may stumble upon Random Events, Piรฑatas might drop some different pickups, you'll face new enemies, and more!

Oh, and did we mention you can now play all of that in offline single-player?

[h2]New Game Mechanic: Objectives![/h2]
We've completely revamped the Main Objective of a Picnic! The game is not about surviving a timer anymore, now it's about completing objectives and defeating bosses!
It's not only that but the longer the Picnic takes, the more difficult the game becomes ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

[h2]New Game Mechanic: Devices[/h2]
[h3]Device: Estalo[/h3]
This isn't your regular bombs! Estalos are special grenades that bounce and might explode at up to 3 times! Each time it explodes it deals damage to enemies inside its area.


[h3]Device: Chamusca[/h3]
Burn the world with Chamusca! A device that creates a fiery area that deals damage over time to enemies inside!


[h3]Device: Friaca[/h3]
Absolute Zero Chills with this one! Stop enemies in their tracks and make it easier for you to explode their faces!


[h2]New Game Mechanic: Events[/h2]
During a Picnic, you might encounter special "happenings" that the Zone might spawn. These are special Events that you can participate in! But beware because the Zone has a chaotic personality so be careful before interacting with Events!
New Events will be introduced in the future!

[h3]New Event: Offerings[/h3]
The Zone will hide this event on the map, you need to find it to receive its rewards, but beware! It's not the Zone who's making an offering, YOU are the Offering...


[h2]New Game Mechanic: Vacuum Drops[/h2]
Now you can find new things hidden when breaking those Yellow Rocks! These are Vacuum Pickups, they do what their name say: they suck either the XP or Pebbles on the map to you!

We've revamped how XP and Pebble drops work, now they can merge! Not only that but they are way more performant and the game should run much smoother when there's tons of drops on the map!

[h2]Match Flow Improvements[/h2]
We've removed the map that players spawned in before the Match starts. This means there's less friction from when you press Play to actually Play the game.
Now players will drop right into the map, the Upgrade popup will appear, and the match will start once everyone has chosen!

[h2]Rebalanced... everything[/h2]
Yep. Every weapon, upgrade, XP curve, drops, enemies, and enemy waves were rebalanced or changed in some way...
I'm not going to write everything here because this patch notes would be so big that you'd be spending the next 4 hours reading it. It's totally not because it's too much, and we didn't even keep track of everything...

[h2]Camera Improvements[/h2]
You'll notice that the game feels much more comfortable when fighting airborne enemies. This is because we changed how the camera behaves when looking up after certain angles. Grass won't get in front of the camera anymore, and the game will be framed better when looking up.

[h2]Visual Improvements[/h2]
Lots of visual improvements on the map
  • New Graffiti Decals
  • Better 3d Models
  • Improved Textures and Shaders

Added a new Dither Effect for grass and the player character when the camera gets too close.

We've done a ton of optimizations, and the game should run much better on low-end machines!

This was a big one!
The team is super proud of achieving so much in such a short period of time. And it doesn't stop here! Did you notice a small easter egg plastered across this entire update? No? Go back and look at all the GIFs and see if you notice something...

Yep. That's our new map!
This new map will be coming soon to the game, so you can expect more info to drop in the coming weeks!

UI IMPROVEMENTS, ART AND CAMERA!


We're back... back again!
We took some time to add a highly requested feature: you can now see which Upgrades you've picked up during a run and, if you press TAB, you can see an expanded description of each Upgrade! There's also some more stuff!

In the Top Left part of the HUD you can now see which Upgrades you've picked up! If you press TAB you'll be able to read a small description of each upgrade!

[h2]Enemy Art![/h2]
Added final art for some enemies: Fly Bomber and Ground Launcher!

[h2]Camera Distance Camera Effect during Air Gear and Gear Dodge![/h2]
We've changed the main camera a little bit, it is now a bit more distant! Enabling you to see more of the map around you!
When using Air Gear and Gear Dodge there's new camera effects and you'll be able to see a bit more and get some extra juice for that game feel!

[h2]VFX![/h2]
Added some new cool VFX like enemies dissolving after they are defeated!

[h2]Known Issues[/h2]
The AMD Crashing issues are still being worked on, we've already identified the problem and are working with our testes to properly solve it! This issue happens on AMD Radeon 6600 and below only.

Back to work now that Not-E3 is over!

We finally added some features that you've been asking us, as well as made the game a bit more juicier and prettier!

We're working on some huge features for the future, our biggest one is a revamp of the main game's objective. A new System that will enable us to add events, procedurally adjust difficulty, rewards and even more, it's super cool!

Also, Boss Fights!

FIXING AND OPTIMIZING!


Hey everyone! As you all must've noticed, we've been VERY BUSY showing up in the Future of Play Showcase, OTK Games Expo and the PC Gaming Show! This means, a TON of new players, so we had to stop and work on dusting up some cobwebs and making the game easier to run on slower machines. So this update focus on this! But rest assured! We're working on some cooool new features!

Features

[h2]New Air Gear UI![/h2]
We brushed up the UI for the Air Gear, now it has its proper place and has a charger count as well as a very nice VFX to indicate when it's ready to use!

[h2]Map Changes![/h2]
We changed a bit of the map (near the mountains) to make the flow more smooth and reduce the amount of invisible walls.

[h2]Upgrade Toast![/h2]
When you get a new upgrade you'll get a notification at the bottom of the HUD showing which upgrade you got. You know... in case you forgot.

[h2]Optimizations![/h2]
A ton of optimizations were made, it mostly impact lower-end machines

[h2]SFX![/h2]
We added some new SFX to the game! Enjoy

[h2]Fixes and Improvements[/h2]
  • Fixed some issues with movement where the player wouldn't be able to climb and walk through certain small objects.
  • Currencies UI won't appear at the start
  • Added animation when you pick up Pebbles and Cores
  • Added Pebble icon to Item Shop upgrades tooltip
  • There were some Mementos Upgrades that weren't working properly, fixed them!
  • Cooldown Reduction, Damage Reduction, Move Speed, Max Health Increase
  • Fixed controller support behaving strangely
  • Improved visuals of all explosion VFX, should be lighter on the GPU and easier to see when there's too many of them
  • Added a small delay to the Air Gear where you cannot activate it sequentially (some people were activating it two times by accident a lot!)

We're so happy by the reception the game has been receiving online, thank you all for the support!

So, this update right now was a bit on the smaller size, but rest assured we've been working super hard on MAJOR features. As you saw on the new trailer there are multiple new Characters, Boss fights and even some new secret gameplay mechanics coming to the game!
