Game balancing for campaign

We've balanced the difficulty of the campaign levels. Our general philosophy for difficulty levels is: for the Spicy (Medium) difficulty, new players should be able to complete it without dying, but it may feel a little challenging at times. For veteran players of the genre, Feisty (Hard) difficulty should be more your style! The Cozy (Easy) difficulty is for players who seldom/never play similar games, and would like to enjoy the game without worrying (too much) about dying.

If you find the game too easy/difficult, please experiment with the 3 difficulty modes and also the sliders! The sliders allow you to customize different aspects of the game's difficulty, ranging from the number of enemies, to their heath, their damage, attack speed, and so on!

As always, we would love to hear your feedback about the game! Please post to our Steam discussion board, about anything and everything, including which difficulty mode you like, or which custom setting you feel fits you best!

Changes:
  • The difficulty for the campaign levels have been balanced. Overall it should be slightly more difficult, with more enemies spawning that are easier to kill and give less experience. Loot drop rates have also similarly been adjusted.
  • Damage for lightning bolts have been significantly reduced.
  • The graphics for "Feisty Fauna" text in the menus have been updated.
  • Minor improvements to the UI for classic/co-op game mode have been made.

  • The dodge action now displays its cooldown!
  • At the demo level cap of 20 (the full game will not have a level cap), the experience bar now says "Max for demo"
  • Dodge and interact keybinds now show up depending on the player's input types (e.g., gamepad button icons only appear if the player has a gamepad)
  • Multi-player updates: quest objectives, coins collected, and dodge instructions now appear in each split-screen window

Bug fixes:
  • The interact icon over Chestnut's head in the campaign should no longer be twitchy/blurry
  • Fixed a bug in local multi-player character selection

Update notes for Aug 23 2023

  • Fixed a bug where multiple rings of runestones could spawn in the world. Now only a single set of runestones will spawn.

Changes:
  • Updated the text at the beginning of the campaign about how chicks were kidnapped by foxes.
  • Increased the range of interaction with other characters in the farm, but requires Peppermint to be facing in their general direction.

  • Fixed duplicate mapping of keyboard-A; keyboard-A now only moves the player left, and is no longer also used for dodge/interact
  • Fixed typos in chats and quest progress text

Changes:
  • Added dots that appear at the bottom right of the interact window when text have finished appearing
