Haunted House Renovator News

Development Diary #2

We're sure that you're news-hungry when it comes to Haunted House Renovator. We're happy to report that the development of the game is going well and we're bursting with ideas to make you feel like an enterprising handyman in the mission of eradicating (or hiding) the spooky threats to profit on the impressive estates they've decided to haunt!
Every job needs a proper toolset!
As it's defined by the very pitch idea for Haunted House Renovator, you will do two jobs at once. That's why the tools you have at your disposal have to be very versatile. After all, you wouldn't want to go against an aggressive paranormal activity with a plain mop, paint, brush, etc.

So we had focused on the concept of 2 in 1 renovation/ghostbusting tools, which start pretty down to earth, but gradually evolve with every upgrade to become intimidating, futuristic-looking supernatural suppressors.

For example, take a look at this wallpaper roller/remover tool. It's clear that as the upgrading progresses, it's much more fit to take on more unconventional problems than just old and ugly walls. At a second glance, it may even grow to shoot out... ghastly skulls?. Oh boy!

Of course, the evolution of tools may also improve the more standard capabilities... still in a pretty unstandard way. As you can see from the concept above, cleaning appliances can gain elaborate dirt scanning systems or even multi-dimensional capabilities (if it means other planes of existence or cleaning more than one space at a time is yet to be discovered)!

Of course, please be reminded that the above pictures are early concept art, subject to change. But they show off the direction we're going with your future renovation equipment!

Development Diary #1

Greetings!

It's time we start sharing info from the production of Haunted House Renovator! We know that there are a lot of people waiting to learn more about the game and these devlogs are the way to do it. So without further ado, let's start exploring!
We will start with the most exciting information - Haunted House Renovator is developed in Unreal Engine 5!
Our initial prototype, trailer, and screenshots were all created and recorded in Unreal Engine 4. However, since then we decided to change the game engine. It was thanks to your interest and support that we were comfortable making such a drastic switch, which marks our first foray into the amazing possibilities of Unreal Engine 5!

Let's peek at the result! Keep in mind, that we are still in the early stages of development and that everything is subject to change.

We will show you more information about the gameplay in future devlogs, so this sneak peek will have to do for now! But do let us know if you have any questions that you want answered.

The core principle of Haunted House Renovator hasn't changed. It still allows you to clean and restore haunted locations, accept various contracts, explore spooky locations, and learn their story. And it lets you perform rituals to banish ghosts! Or you could try hiding monsters where house owners can’t find them. The two concept arts below should demonstrate what kind of progress we're aiming for:

Finally, we have good news for all Steam Deck owners! Even though we're still in the early stages of development, we can already test Haunted House Renovator away from our work computers. It's always been our goal to support a large variety of hardware and guarantee that everyone gets a chance to experience our game.

The footage below shows one of our work-in-progress locations, an apartment that the player will visit at the start of the game. It will later become the hub for the players, a space safe from prying eyes. The decor and lighting will undergo some heavy tweaking but the overall shape should stay the same.

We hope that you liked this sneak peek! What do you think about it? Let us know on our official Discord server!
