Our latest playtest sessions have once again revealed some mischievous bug specters haunting the shadowy corners of our eerie estate. Thanks to your bravery and keen eyes, we've identified and tackled these supernatural nuisances. While the battle against the paranormal continues, we are pleased to announce that this hotfix has successfully exorcised a new batch of spectral glitches from our haunted halls.

Version 1.3.70:

• Fix to a rare crash that could occur when teleporting an object near the safe
  
• Another potential fix to a crash that happened when entering the bathroom (we're unable to reproduce this one so please let us know if it works now!)
  
• Clues for Wraith investigation now shine, making them easier to find and photograph
  
• Gremlin should no longer put objects inside other objects and walls
  
• Restored the visual effect of breaking down the doors to the bathroom
  
• Improved chair collisions
  

Known bug - fixing the floor twice can reset your funds... so don't change its appearance while we work on a fix. Sorry about that :sadskullDPW:

If your game is not launching at all (you don't even see the launcher), you can use this workaround to try the playtest while we work on a better solution:

1. Right click on the playtest in your Steam library, hover over 'Manage' and click on 'Browse local files'
   
2. This will open your installation folder. Inside, you should see a file called 'Haunted.exe'. Try launching that

But fear not, for our team of fearless developers has risen to the challenge!

Through the mystical art of coding incantations, we've summoned forth a hotfix to banish this mischievous bug apparition from haunting our players' experiences. While our battle against the forces of the supernatural continues, we're thrilled to announce that our latest hotfix has exorcised a portion of the spectral glitches that once roamed these haunted halls.

Version 1.3.69:

• Gremlin appears after you pick up your tools (to limit the chaos a bit while the player learns the game)
  
• Gremlin should no longer throw immovable objects around
  
• Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the safe to fly away from the office before it could be repaired
  
• Potential fix to a crash that happened when entering the bathroom (we're unable to reproduce this one so please let us know if it works now!)
  
• Improved trash bag icons (they should no longer 'spill' onto the floor)

Here's what's new and different from previous playtests and the Kickstarter/PAX versions:

• Fiery Ghost: Now you'll encounter a fiery ghost that ignites objects, but fear not! You can extinguish it with a water grenade. This ghost was showcased during the Kickstarter campaign but was absent from the recent playtests.
  
• Combat Insight: Equip yourself with the camera to unveil strategies to combat certain hauntings. While this feature was introduced during the Kickstarter, it hasn't been available in the latest playtests.
  
• Enhanced Tutorial: We've revamped the tutorial to ensure a smoother learning curve for new players.
  
• New Rooms: Explore two brand-new rooms—the bedroom and the wardrobe, each with its own set of challenges and mysteries.

• Gremlin Intruder: Watch out for the mischievous gremlin, stealing treasures. But don't fret; you can also employ it to uncover hidden riches.
  
• Wraith Miniboss: Encounter the formidable Wraith, an ancestor of the player character, capable of possessing and playing pranks on the player.
  
• Magical Rituals: Delve into the intricate mechanics of magical rituals, involving clue-hunting to banish the Wraith once and for all.
  
• Visual and Audio Enhancements: Experience improved visual effects and sound design for a more immersive gameplay experience.
  
• Bug Squashing: We've fixed numerous bugs to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience.
  

During this playtest, you'll have the opportunity to explore all the basic mechanics of Haunted House Renovator, including essential renovation skills and some paranormal abilities.

Join us from May 15th to May 20th, 2024 for an exclusive sneak peek at the demo-candidate build.

Dive into all the base mechanics of the game, including paranormal skills and interior renovation challenges, along with some spine-tingling new features.

• This build precedes our main testing phase, so expect bugs—lots of them! Your feedback will help us squash them.

Dear Renovators, the Kickstarter for Haunted House Renovator has ended! Thanks to you, we've not only funded the project - we've also reached three of our stretch goals!

Our backers raised a total of 18 064 CAD. That's 180% of our original goal. Thanks to this effort, the game will get a console version (Xbox Series and PlayStation 5). We will also be able to add new features to the base Steam version of the game - a servant ghost, a hallucination mechanic, and an expanded soundtrack.

We have two very large pledges, and with the help of these two backers, we're going to create an amazing new ghost and a whole new location. We're looking forward to working closely with our generous backers on this content.

We also have a few pledges from people who will have the chance to be immortalized in Haunted House Renovator by having an in-game portrait based on photos submitted by the backers.



We can't wait to share more details with you, so stay tuned.
