Greetings, Renovators!

We are excited to announce that the demo for Haunted House Renovator has received an official patch 1.3.90! Your feedback has been invaluable, and we have been working hard to enhance your gaming experience. Here are some of the key updates included in this patch:

Patch Notes:
• In Wraith-related tutorials, the cursor no longer disappears when pressing Escape.
  
• Improved Performance: Optimized rendering in the camera, resulting in a few more FPS.
  
• Fixed occult garbage disappearing under the floor.
  
• Removed the digital timer in the Ancestor's minigame.
  
• Task list now hides when the player is possessed.
  
• Added `$` to item prices in the shop.
  
• Fixed bug allowing multiple rewards for picking up garbage.
  
• Resolved issue with Gremlin tasks hanging when the Gremlin was caught and treasure was taken
  before the quest appeared.
  
• Corrected various typos.
  
• Linked the Chinese room names table in the fusebox.
  
• Fixed issue where the camera frame stayed on screen if switched quickly to another tool.
  
• Added the option to change wallpaper patterns during wallpapering (previously selected walls retain the old pattern, newly selected walls get the new pattern).
  
• Improved the effect of Gremlin holding an item.
  
• Enhanced player animations, including telekinesis teleport and transitions between tools.
  
• Added SFX for burning furniture and effects for extinguishing it.

Early Access is a possibility, but we haven’t finalized that decision yet.

What’s New in the Demo?

We’ve packed the demo with even more content and polish than the Kickstarter preview version we showcased in March.

Here’s what’s new:

• A gremlin intruder to spice things up.
  
• Two new rooms to explore.
  
• A fearsome wraith that can possess the player.
  
• An improved tutorial and numerous quality-of-life improvements based on feedback from our Kickstarter backers and playtesters.
  

Stability and Bug Fixes
We've also put a lot of effort into fixing bugs and making the demo more stable. While some issues might still linger, we’re committed to addressing any problems swiftly. We might even release patches during the Steam Next Fest to ensure you have a great experience.

Future Plans
We’re still working hard on the full version of Haunted House Renovator. There’s no official release date yet, as we have a lot more content to add, including new locations, a campaign, a progression system, and even a simple pet system (teased but not shown in the demo). Dear Renovators,

We’re excited to announce that we’ve just released a new hotfix to address several issues that you’ve reported during the playtest.

We made more changes to combat the crash that occurs when entering the bathroom. Please let us know if this issue persists and continue to send in your logs using our Bug Report Form or via on DISCORD

You can find your logs at: C:\Users%user%\AppData\Local\Haunted\Saved\Logs

Here are the details of the fixes included in this update:

Version 1.3.72
• Another potential fix for the crash that occurs when entering the bathroom. If you still get a crash in the latest update, please let us know & send us your log files!
  
• Tweaked the Camera tool, allowing for more close-up shots
  
• Text clarifications (ie. changed fire grenade to water grenade)
  
• Linked buttons about wraith and ritual info in bestiary to proper cards (they were inactive earlier)
  
• Added possibility to equip magic circle through the button in the bestiary
  
• The haunted piano should now correctly reward the player with treasure after completing its riddle
  
• Turned off interaction text for the grenade (now it can only be highlighted)
  
• Teleporting the safe no longer marks its quest as completed
  
• The game is now better at detecting hardware and automatically adjusts graphics settings (only when launching the game for the first time)
  
• Changes to the fusebox model
  
• Added a sound to chest opening
  
• Fixed bug with wrong material showing on teleported trash
  
• Fixed bug with quest not noticing that you opened the bedroom
  

While we’ve made significant progress, your feedback is crucial to help us identify and fix remaining issues. Here’s how you can assist:

• Continue Playing: Dive into the spooky world of Haunted House Renovator and explore as much as you can.
  
• Report Bugs: Use our Bug Report Form or report issues via DISCORD. Your detailed reports and logs are invaluable.
  
• Check for Updates: Make sure your game is updated to the latest version (1.3.71) to benefit from the latest fixes.
  
• Communicate: Join our Discord server for real-time support, discussions, and to connect with other players and our team.
  

If your game is not launching at all (you don't even see the launcher), you can use this workaround to try the playtest while we work on a better solution:

1. Right click on the playtest in your Steam library, hover over 'Manage' and click on 'Browse local files'
   
2. This will open your installation folder. Inside, you should see a file called 'Haunted.exe'. Try launching that

We are extending the playtests for Haunted House Renovator until Wednesday, May 22nd.

We're battling a particularly pesky crash that happens when you enter the bathroom, and we need your help to exorcise this bug! If you’ve encountered this crash in the latest version (1.3.70), please send us your logs using our Bug Report Form or via on DISCORD. You can find your logs at: C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\Haunted\Saved\Logs.

To give us more time to fix this, we are extending the playtest period by two extra days, until Wednesday.

Here’s a reminder on how to launch the game:

• Download and install Haunted House Renovator from Steam.
  
• Launch the game and immerse yourself in the spooky renovations.
  
• Report any issues you encounter to help us make the game better.
  

Don’t forget to join our Discord server for real-time support and use the game widget for quick access. If you’re ever unsure about what to do next, our community and team are here to guide you through the haunted hallways.
