Gossip with quirky pieces of software—the sassy Photos, the insecure Social Media F, or the neglected Health, among others—and uncover their distinct side stories. Meet characters from Backfirewall!

[h3]OS9[/h3]

OS9 is the leader of the System. It’s slowly growing obsolete, but remains in complete denial. Determined to stop the upcoming update, OS9 will join you as a part-sidekick, part-narrator.

[h3]Photos[/h3]

Hating everything but its art, especially the image recognition, the sassy Photos watches over the GPU art galleries. It doesn’t have a strong opinion about anything that’s going on in the System.

[h3]Unzipper[/h3]

Unzipper used to have its workshop in WiFi’s post office, but the ceiling crumbled on its head, giving Unzipper a severe memory loss. Eternal optimist, Unzipper didn’t mind one bit when Management relocated it to the Battery lab—even though it’s the most dangerous and hated place in the System.

[h3]Cache Cleaner[/h3]

Cache Cleaner has no interest in the Resistance whatsoever and focuses on its job: trimming the Binary Trees.

[h3]Social Media F[/h3]

Once a favorite app and then forgotten, Social Media F lives in strong denial and believes that the User will love it again.

[h3]Social Media I[/h3]

As the User’s new favorite, Social Media I is extremely full of itself. It has lots of friends in the System because it brews the best data-coffee.

[h3]Social Media T[/h3]

Social Media T just wants to dance and vibe, living in the moment.

[h3]Music and Podcast[/h3]

Music and Podcast strive first and foremost for attention. It created a split personality in order to animate all its radio shows like a duo of radio hosts, and works at Speakers’ nightclub as a DJ.

[h3]Processes[/h3]

Processes are the majority of the population in the System. They have no specialties and execute very specific, simple tasks. They are also great gossipers.

[h3]Office Workers[/h3]

Office Workers are specialized processes dedicated to WiFi’s sorting area. While they are terrible at their jobs, they make up for it with dedication.

[h3]Maintenance[/h3]

Always understaffed for everything, not one of the Maintenance workers has ever been granted a day off. Maintenance works with hearing-protection on, except for Wat that lost its hearing long ago and has become deaf.

[h3]Banking[/h3]

Banking App does nothing else than dealing with User’s banking data and has a tendency to trigger infinite loops if you ask it the same question over and over again.

[h3]Security[/h3]

Security are very simple processes dedicated to hunting Errors and abnormalities. They don’t think very far and could even erase themselves if they were asked to.
